the prices are a bit high but they are not making it up when they claim to have delicious fish tacos. the cabbage slaw on top of the fried fish put its over the top. for $ 12, you get two fish tacos… i would have liked it more if they included a side for that price. the store is cute and sells a variety of other local foodstuffs.

The carrot cake is the best on Long Island! The restaurant should call this famous, more than the fish tacos. Fish tacos not bad, chill was very fresh. Grilled cheese traditional and gooey.

Very cute place situated in the heart of the historic and beautiful town of Cold Spring Harbor. They reopened this year under new management and have made some delightful changes, including a new menu, including breakfast. If you like egg sandwiches, Sean makes the best, their rolls are so fresh. They have everything from ice cream to turkey burgers to homemade fudge and beer cheese. They recently also started selling milk, eggs and yogurt. They pride themselves on their fish tacos and let me tell you they ARE amazing. Only thing is, it’s a pricey little joint, but you really get what you pay for.

The GW is a great breakfast and lunch spot. All of the food is well done and the service is exceptional. The staff are conversational but not intrusive. They made my kids feel welcome and almost part of the GW family. Today we had their squash soup, vegetarian chili, and chicken sandwiches. All were great and then we had there home made ice cream and hot apple cider.

The Gourmet Whaler was recently renovated and is soooo much better than before! It is now bright and spacious inside. Before it was cluttered and dark. The food is delicious. The fish tacos are the best my fiancé and I have had, and we go out to eat a lot! We had coconut ice cream cones for dessert and it is now my favorite flavor of ice cream. We also bought the beer cheese to snack on at home later with crackers and it was delicious. Word is out about the Whaler because it was packed! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The owner Denise is a lovely person and has done a wonderful job. We will definitely be back!

Drove past this place and someone said this was voted a top place to eat at in Long Island… yeah not at all. The menu is limited to casual foods: fish taco, salad, pull pork sandwiches, chicken tenders, lobster rolls(special), etc. I ordered the fish tacos. The two tacos came with a pile of red cabbage on them. I mean tons! And a small slab of fish. I don’t think there was a way I could possibly hold my tacos. I had to eat it with a fork. The mango sauce it came with was good. The chicken tenders for kids were 3 little pieces of chicken and salty chips for around $ 8. It did taste good but not worth 8 dollars. The $ 22 lobster roll special was not worth it. The store sold cute country like things and food. With an ice cream stand and a fudge counter. The strawberry ice cream was ok. Not my favorite. Would I spend another $ 70 here for lunch? Probably not.

Amazing place! The only restaurant I could find two of my favorite treats — Greek frappé coffee and an acai bowl. Friendly service, delicious food.

Stopped in for an iced coffee for myself and some ice cream and fudge for my brother. The iced coffee was probably the best iced coffee I’ve ever had, it was delicious! My brother devoured the ice cream and then decided to get an iced coffee too after trying mine. The fudge was also really good. Our server was really nice and he was helpful too

Awesome place located right in the center of town. Have eaten here plenty of times and could not be happier! Great staff, owner is always present and smiling :) Highly recommend an acai bowl or smoothie if your not looking to sit down.

Absolutely solid lunch spot wih a small gift shop and candy. Serve yourself soup. Three home made varieties — today spinach and lentil, chicken and a third…(???). Serve yourself sodas, coffee and water. Be served sandwiches and food. A simple menu with choices from fish tacos($ 13.95) to hamburgers, chicken salad to pizza. All simple but done well. The fish tacos are crimped and breaded deep fried in fresh oil. They are topped with snappy purple coleslaw and a side of mango salsa. The turkey club($ 11.95) is built with he usual suspects however the turkey? Fresh sliced thick cut slabs of moist meat piled on top of each other. One of the best renditions I’ve ever sampled. A 7oz burger is mad formed and prepared perfectly medium according to the party consuming it. Well seasoned is the beef. Polite service and a quite setting right along a very busy stretch of road.

Stopped in for lunch after a visiting Caumsett Park horse stables. Really cute place. café, little knick knack store and bakery in the back. Don’t expect table linen or even real silverware. You serve yourself soup, grab your soup container and plastic spoon and sit yourself. then server comes and takes entrée order. Homemade tomatoe soup was excellent. Ordered Grill Cheese sandwich which was also very good. However is was served with Lays potato chips and slice of pickle. Server was friendly. Seemed family run and very«homey». Good comfort food. The little bakery counter in the back was cute. Good truffles and cake pops. They have pie pops that were a great litte treat for my sweet tooth.

If you’re in the area, you have to come to the Gourmet Whaler. 1) Connie is amazing and 2) if you want to feel Main Street USA, then you want to experience this restaurant.

Came here for lunch today after paddle boarding at the harbor with the bff. This place is super cute. Think random, but not disorganized. They have knick knacks for sale, and you can dine in as well as take out. Ordered a burger with the fish tacos, both were great! Both the owner and the servers were wonderful and pleasant to interact with at every part of our meal. Will definitely come back here for the lobster roll as they ran out right before we came!

Gourmet Whaler?! You snagged us hook, line and wallet. Need water, tea, lemonade, ice coffee — you’re good to go. And, I do suggest that you only get drinks and go. We were graciously told to go pick out our meals from the cooler — initially this was a turn off since I could not find a price anywhere — but figured if they are pre-packaging their meals they shouldn’t be THAT expensive. When I went to pay — I was told we could settle up after we ate. BIGMISTAKE. While the glorified chicken salad sandwich was tasty, that and the ham and cheese with two drinks that we got wasn’t worth the $ 32 we paid! For that money, I would have expected a more ‘gourmet’ sandwich and not something that was slapped between two pieces of store bought wonder-bread with some prepackaged bag of chips. Too bad they were the only place in town that was open to grab a quick bite to eat.

Cold Spring Harbor’s place you always stop in for something. The original ownership had changed years back and added a lot to their menu. It to me is still more of a coffee to go place, but has its lunch fans. They used to have some great flavored coffee(chocolate rasberry long gone) and the best french bread on Long Island… I kid you not. They would sell you buttered pieces of it, along with their homemade cookies when buying coffee. They still make great homemade cookies to go with your coffee. Ice cream in summer(not homemade but convenient) and chocolate candy on high chocolate holy days… ie: Valentines and Easter. lol
