Antique Alley

Compared to the rest of the shops and small boutique stores along Main Street this facility just seems out of place.
Kind of a mishmosh of small shops thrown together into tiny rooms along a narrow corridor to walk through.
Not much to really see here and some of the places in this alley weren’t even open the afternoon we dropped by. The only people in here seemed to be the store owners with a few family and friends chatting with them.
Wasn’t impressed at all by the selection of goods offered here. We looked around and left within a few minutes. It’s kind of sparse.
Don’t waste your time, especially when there is so much better shopping to be had while walking along the open air of Main Street.

Tiny storefront that has divided antique shops inside. It’s very small and cramped. Nothing really special in here and a few of them were closed when I visited. It’s on Main St. The hallway is narrow and each shop in the alley has no specialty. It’s a neat idea that has potential but the lack of quality and quantity pushes me away. Cold Spring is nice little town but it hasn’t been the same in years in my opinion.

Inside this cute group of small shops is one called «Cold Spring Coins & Currency.» I stood in the coin shop’s open doorway for approximately ten seconds before the owner came up and commanded me to move out of his doorway. There is another open doorway into his store exactly one foot to the left, by the way. There was also zero traffic, nobody trying to get in or out. Absolutely NO reason for him to be so aggressive to a young lady like myself. He thought I was alone, though, and spoke to me in a very demeaning way. When my short, gay male friend remarked that that was a rude way of speaking to customers, the owner came out from behind his counter, chased my friend down the hall, and said he was going to «kick his ass.» My boyfriend (6’3″) came out from another store and had to step in front of the crazed man and tell him to calm down and go away. The man backed down at the thought of getting his old grumpy butt kicked and went back into his sad coin hole. What a horrible, sad experience. Wouldn’t be surprised if this poor wretch treats all people who he perceives to be «less than» him this way.
