Had dinner Saturday and it was Amazing. APPETIZERS: calmari w light tomato sauce, mixed exotic mushrooms and not pictured is the burrata w brocliRabe. All of the appetizers were outrageously presented and each owned it’s distinctive taste. … As entrées we both had the hen stuffed with forgras mash potatoes and greens also ordered the risotto w peas delicious … There was simply empty plates … their staff was as always very attentive and professional. RAFAEL, our server, is extremely polished and very personable w us … we love him !!! As well as the rest of tge staff !! 5 stars … see you soon. And remember I was just there for lunch last Sunday … Yummmmmm!

Had lunch here today while in Cold Spring on business. It was a light lunch and all positive. Service was fast and pleasant, food was good. That’s good enough for me

Cathryn’s feels Tuscan. It’s over-grown, cramped, colorful and tasty. Food has beautiful presentation. Lots of shaven cheese and wines used in cookery. Beautiful table settings, elegant with table cloths. Delicious desserts, Italian coffee. Small town makes good waiters hard to find. Adapt accordingly. Expensive for few choices. Location in the weeds, bring GPS. Rebel Reviewer says: 3 stars.

Ignore that haters here and give Cathryn’s a try if in town and looking for a nice place to eat dinner. KInd of an upscale looking restaurant, clean, with plenty of seating and cool art on the walls. During nice weather there is even some outside courtyard seating. Even though we did not have a reservation we ended up getting a table after a short wait. After a long day trip here in Cold Spring it was actually a good choice to sit on the couches by the lounge area and enjoy a glass of wine. Oh, and they pour a full glass here too, not the half glass crap that many places offer when it comes to wine. A win. Food was tasty, portions were solid, and prices were fair for what we received but maybe a bit pricey for some. Polenta with sausage, rigatoni in brandied cream sauce, and penne with shrimp were all prepared well. Not a drop was left on any plate. The service here was terrific as our waiter was more than attentive and offered good advice on the menu options. Also, we met the owner who chatted with us a bit and seemed pretty nice. We’ll definitely be back here for a meal next time in town.

The food is always great! The exotic mushroom appetizer is off the charts. Lots of interesting décor and space makes it very comfortable! Don’t be shy with the real aged parmigiano reggiano on you homemade pasta! Try the pulled rabbit with grappa sauce on Pappardelle…

We come here every time we end a hike… and it appears it has become a tradition, not only with my boyfriend and me, but also with a few friends in our hiking circles. We come with our sweaty clothes and dirty gear… and they welcome us warmly, as they do with everyone. The entire staff is great! We come for Raphael… and the poetic way he delivers the specials. We like to point at random items on the menu just to hear him pronounce it for us. We come for the food… and although we have our go-to dishes, we can say from what we’ve had, they’re frickin’ good! My BF’s go-to is the rigatoni with sausage and peas. I switch off between the squid ink linguine with shrimp and the pappardelle with rabbit meat, but I can also vouch for the calf liver and duck dishes. Honestly, we’ve never been disappointed. I may have tried some items that didn’t suit my palate(items not mentioned here), but I still cleaned the plates! There has never been any food left behind when we come here… NEVER! The menu is not basic and I love that.

Wonderful late dinner after a longer than expected hike. Staff was extremely friendly, and we both ate from the restaurant week menu(had no idea it was restaurant week). It was cozy, warm, and the menu was lovely. My husband had the mushroom soup as a starter, and the burratta was lovely, creamy, and delicious. We both had the duck, which was accompanied by wonderful mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, and i finished off with a nice ricotta cake, and my husband inhaled his tiramisu… I was very satisfied with my meal and the value, and look forward to dining here again on another trip to this cute little town.

We made a reservation, a good idea, for last Saturday which was a very busy day in Cold Spring. After a short walk though the Foundry Historic area on the Hudson we were ready for an autumnal lunch. Excellent apps of white bean soup and the polenta with tomato sausage sauce was delicious. Must say I enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli in a butter sauce more than he did the gnocchi with bolonase. Excellent glass of a french white wine with the ravioli accompanied my meal. Service a bit slow but they were packed and the chef must have have really had to hustle. A leisurely lunch was enjoyed in the front room by the window. Put Catherine’s on your list.

This was our go to place in Cold Spring which we visit 3 – 4 times a year from Rockland County. My wife and I really used to like this place but fear that they have gotten too successful for their own good and have lost touch with their customers. The last time we ate there we were there for lunch. We ordered appetizers and wine as this was to be our main meal of the day. Wine was expensive but lots of options. However, I ordered a pasta dish entrée and while tasty, the portion was more like an appetizer and the price was quite high for a lunch. I was still hungry afterwards. Server was very pleasant but the service was slow. The busboys were hard working. We left feeling that it wasn’t worth the price and not sure we’ll go back. There are many options in Cold Spring.

I’ve been visiting Cathryn’s Restaurant consistently for 19 years now. It has grown and developed beautifully. Always a consistently wonderful experience. Boasts a spectacular wine selection, solidly sourced menu and several seating areas. Bravo! Well done! Not to be missed.

Nothing bad to say about this place. The wait staff is great the area very scenic the restaurant itself is decorated nicely. If you have a chance and the weather is nice it’s an absolute must to sit and dine in the garden. I very strongly recommend eating the rigatoni buttera

Absolutely delicious! The burrata was out of this world. I had the spaghetti with cracked pepper and cheese and it was spectacular. Simple. Al dente. Perfection. The service was also spot on. I would drive 45 minutes to get back here in a heartbeat!

When I checked in here I commented, «better not disappoint me». Maybe I jinxed it? Let’s start off with the gross part – FLIES. Everywhere. I know they have open doors and an outdoor area, but then buy one of those zappers and handle your situation. This is not appetizing. Nor is the stale, rock hard bread on which I almost broke my teeth. Our server was only able to tell us what he «thought» the specials were. Really? Is there something in the water here?! Everything here was just barely passing for ok. The only reason they will maintain their two stars is that half of our 4-person party ordered salads(as I should have done) and were totally satisfied. However, two people ordered desserts, neither enjoyed them. And the remaining entrees and appetizers were bland and so bleak. Why on earth did we stop here when there’s that cute, little French restaurant across the street with the sweet aromas permeating Main Street here?! Why did I allow my hunger to agree that this first place we saw should be our lunch destinaton? Why? Just Why? I ordered the Linguine nere, served with shrimp in a cream sauce. The pasta was fresh and actually not horrible. I was in the mood for some squid ink. The shrimp were pretty damn small in this $ 22 dish and the cream sauce didn’t taste like a whole lot of anything. The pasta itself was meh, and I guess given the quality and taste of everything else was decent in texture and execution(didn’t expect that they could deliver fresh pasta. Couldn’t finish this as the sauce was god awful. The spinach and ricotta raviolis in a brown butter sage sauce. They just tried to make the food sound really nice and then attached reasonably high prices for super subpar Italian fare. The polenta was awful, and allegedly served in a «savory» sauce that seemed like unsalted beef broth and overcooked mushrooms. Gross. Seriously… no. $ 9.50 a piece for chocolate soufflé(served with nothing, not even a dollop of whipped cream) that looked and tasted as though it came out of the Easy Bake Oven. SMDH. Get it together. Their apple dessert, which they claim is «just like apple pie» really resembles a nasty, store-bought pound cake with apple slices mixed in. Not impressed. What a rip off. Four people, $ 159 later… we all ran away and got ice cream at Moo Moo’s.

Excellent food and wine, attentive wait staff, lovely ambience. And they were great about accommodating gluten free and vegetarian needs in our party. Authentic northern Italian cuisine and one of the best risottos we’d ever tasted.

I LOVE this restaurant. Classy setting with compelling art on the walls, handsome bar, attentive service, warm welcome at the door but most importantly GREAT food. From our visits we give a 10 out of 10 for the local cheese plate, buffalo mozz appy, Insalata di Giorgio, Orecchiette con Gorgonzola e Noci, Fettuccine ai Fiori di Zucchini, Rigatoni & Sausage, and the italian red wines have us coming back.

Amazing Italian restaurant in Cold Spring… truly authentic and delicious food, and I know, because my friends and I decided to eat family style, so we each tasted everything we ordered: Insalata Romana Insalata di Giorgio Penne con Gamberetti e Verdure — DELICIOUS Risotto of the Day — Porcini — TODIEFOR Orecchiette con Gorgonzola e Noci Tagliata di Manzo And for dessert, it was my friend’s birthday, so we got the Chocolate Lava cake! Service was so perfect… they even helped split a number of plates for us. I wish I lived in Cold Spring… I would be there every week!
