We stayed here for a week. The house is close to plenty of rec areas and could be a great place to stay. However, the owners have not taken care of the cabin and it is gross. The entire place has years worth the dust and grime built up. Two of the three showers don’t work, the bathroom window leaks water onto a sketchy, old heater, and the mold in all the bathrooms is frightening. The pans in the kitchen aren’t usable due to years of scraping the Tephlon to the point that they are hairy due to it peeling up. The owners have so much kitsch it is impossible to clean, eg decades old potpourri in each room, fake floral arrangements with so much dust built up that I venture to guess that these were put out sometime in the 80’s and forgotten about thereafter. Speaking of owners, the woman in charge, Marie, collected my deposit twice, illegally, and still has not returned it as of 3 weeks later. Do not trust these people with your money. They also collected $ 125 for cleaning in a home that hasn’t been cleaned since the turn of the century. We left the place cleaner than when we got there, which was not hard to do considering the piles of dead flies that had accumulated over the years in the window sills. If you have children, be warned that there are so many dead animals strewn throughout the home that there is literally no escaping the carnage. Our kids were terrified of the dead bears and«Santa’s Reindeers» hanging on the living room wall. My friends, family, and I have stayed in many cabins over the years and this one is by far the worst. I do not recommend this cabin and feel ripped off by the Peter’s dishonest website at . The Pinecrest area is beautiful and we all loved our time spent away from the cabin. I would never recommend Peter’s Cabin, but would definitely go back to Cold Springs for vacation.

Stayed here for a weekend ski trip up to Dodge Ridge. On the plus side… it’s very close to the slopes and lake. Location is great. And the not so good… The cabin showed signs of neglect and lack of proper basic housekeeping. Snow had not been cleared from any of the decks so we could not use them. In fact, so much snow had been left sitting for so long on the decks, that it was melting — and water was seeping into the walls of the lower bedroom and running all over the bathroom floor. For the prices charged, I would have a hard time recommending this place to anyone wanting to stay in the Pinecrest area. — — — — — REVIEWUPDATE — In response to the owners comment — — — — — I am surprised to be threatened with baseless legal action by Marie P — owner of this rental cabin. All of my comments are based on my personal observations and opinion from being a guest for 2 nights at Peter’s Cabin in Cold Springs. My review is not a personal attack on the owner. I respect her right to disagree with my comments about housekeeping but I would hope that she would understand that Unilocal is an open and safe place for consumers to be able to speak up and voice both positive and negative experiences with businesses without fear of retaliation and threats. I’m glad that Peter’s Cabin has many return clients, unfortunately for us, we did not find the cabin to be a place that we would ever return to, or recommend to our friends or to readers of my review.
