This place must have been sold because the food is no longer good. We have ordered out tried and true Chinese noodle soups, etc. and all of the food is just bland and not made correctly-with the exception of the General Tsao’s Chicken – everything else is just a hodgepodge of mush for their lunch menu and dinner fare is very pricey.

..got take out from here and was less than thrilled. chicken fried rice – chicken was limp and didn’t seem to be fully cooked. shrimp roll – over fried and slimy inside. shrimp rice noodles – ok but lacking flavor. it got 2 stars for the portions but it didn’t really matter bc we didn’t even finish the first plate… you can do better some place else :/

Thieves! Ordered food through grub hub, an hour later, called to check. Reply was«we are very busy». No apology, no information. Said there was nothing they could do. So I contacted grub hub– that’s a whole different nightmare…

I ordered via grub hub and the spivey beef was delicious as well as spring rolls. I would keep it as a favorite. One star less just because they sent me sprite when I wanted a coke :) I also wish they do open later in night.

They could do a whole lot better. I was so disappointed at the ‘shrimp’ fried rice. i’d rather you go somewhere else.

The bean curd I ordered was well mushy. The fried rice was soggy. The cashier was crabby. The guy could not communicate well and was very rude. He did not treat us like customers. He seemed to have salivated in our food before he gave it to us. He did not give us red chili sauce. They also charge $ 0.30 per credit card transaction under $ 10 which is illegal by the way. Avoid this place at all costs!

Let me start off with saying this is the worst service I have ever encountered in my life. Even by cultural differences this place is the worst. I will recommend that EVERYONE avoid this place. They forget your food, tell you you never ordered it, then claim they will deliver it(NEVERHAPPENED), and then wont refund your money with the receipt. On top of that if you ask for chopsticks he gets an ATTITUDE. This is the WORST business I have ever had the misfortune of going to. Avoid at all cost if you actually want the things you paid for without an asshole response to anything they messed up!

I honestly did not know Chinese food could taste so revolting. Been warned about this place, but thought — meh — how bad could it be? I found out. Unspeakably, irredeemably, unfinshably bad. I would rather skip a meal than eat their«cuisine.» I’m putting«not good for kids» because even Damian from the Omen or Chuckie don’t deserve this food as punishment.

This place was horrible!!! I ordered delivery. The guy was a real jerk and was snippy with me because he had to wait a total of 2 minutes! To make things worst, the food was terrible. The shrimp and scallops were over cooked and rubbery. The sauce had absolutely no flavor. This place sucks! I will not be eating here again.

If you want cheap chinese food come here, plus they offer free delivery. So that’s a huge plus! I ordered from Yum’s Express before and they were HORRIBLE. then I found out about Shen Yang and order from them multiple times now.

I didn’t understand why there were some bad reviews here, but now I think I get it. Their TVP orange chicken is AMAZING. Best deep-fried-something-covered-with-sauce I have ever had. The rice is good quality/fresh/moist and the lunch specials are a great value. However, I don’t think they necessarily know how to make half of the items on the menu. I once ordered Szechuan Tofu and it looked/tasted exactly like Kung Pao, just no peanuts. Neither were great either, which is disappointing. Perhaps it was foolish of me to order something from Southern China when the owners are obviously from the North. So I am a little afraid now to try new things and sort of stick with what I know is good. My omnivore husband does not like the quality of their meat and prefers the tofu/vegetarian options — in spite of having no intentions of ever becoming a vegetarian.

I made the mistake of picking up my food at this joint rather than paying for delivery(my office is a tad outside their free-delivery zone) and if I had the food delivered, I’m sure I’d give it a better review. The food wasn’t bad; it was fine, actually. Service was good. But I can’t get passed how the«front of the house» looked and wondered how bad the kitchen might’ve been. It’s times like this, I wish all food establishments were like those in California with the health inspection grades prominently displayed in their window.

The best Chinese I’ve had here yet. It also doesn’t help that it’s maybe half a block away from where I live. The General Tso’s chicken is so darn crunchy it’s awesome. Accepts credit cards, just bring your photo ID when you use it.

Yes, another Americanized Chinese carryout in the CP/Greenbelt area. I guess being situated here, you tend to try out different places, even if there are great similarities between all these places. This place is a hole in the wall. The décor inside is forgettable. There is literally ONE table there, and I don’t even think you can dine in there(I mean doubt anyone would want to anyway). The chicken was somewhat bland, and tough. It does fill you up, but you will surely not feel good afterward. I’m giving this place 2 and half stars, but I’ll be generous and round it up to 3.

YUK! Spending money at places like this makes me angry! What a waste of money. The food was mostly tasteless, except for the Salt. This is some Ghetto Chinese Food. My bland Kung Pao Chicken could’ve been called; whatever you want to call it(see photo). With all the fillers, it wasn’t Kung Pao! Sure The Orange Chicken was decent, but everything else SUCKED, including the Fried Rice. The House Lo-Mein was bland and mushy(the noodles were overcooked). Also, the Hot & Sour Soup was watery and bland, just like everything else I ordered. This place gives Chinese Food a bad name, and the people who think this is good Chinese Food don’t know what they are talking about. It’s places like this that make it so that I rarely eat Chinese food. To get decent Chinese food you have to go to all the way Peking Gourmet Inn, Mei Wah, or at least to a P.F. Changs or something. Most places use too much filler. Such as the chunks of broccoli stalk(trash food) in my Kung Pao. I threw most of the Kung Pao away. Decent Chinese Food is the exception, not the norm, these days. I’d say that 95% of Chinese Restaurants in the DMV should be avoided. Only a select few have decent, non-ghetto, food. The generic picture menu on the wall, the same one used in all ghetto-Chinese carryouts, is usually a good indication that the food is bad. I should’ve known better. The six previous Unilocal Reviewers gave me false hope. Oh well, now I know better…

I saw the reviews for their orange chicken here on Unilocal, and I was blown away. The chicken is great quality, the orange sauce is extremely flavorful(there are bits of orange rind in it!) and the portion is massive. I also got the crab rangoon, which I’m obsessed with and test with every new Chinese restaurant I find. It was definitely in the top tier of what I’ve had before. The worse crab rangoons are just cream cheese with a hint of crab, but that definitely wasn’t the case here, and the dipping sauce was a different take on the usual sweet sauce. They deliver very quickly, which is great. This is definitely my main cheap Chinese restaurant from here on out.

Yeah, I’ve eaten carry-out here a few times in past month or so in my desparation to find some decent Chinese food. I tried the orange chicken based on the recommendation and it was good. Decent sized portion in the lunch order. Frice rice was a bit on the overcooked/sitting around side. It would probably taste better delivered, if you didn’t see the hole-in-the-wall where it was cooked! I’ll go back.

This place is in a shady spot and the actual restaurant itself had a single table to eat at. HOWEVER, the orange chicken was amazing. The orange glazing was practically dripping off it. I got some yesterday and reheated the left overs for dinner a few hours ago. Still just as good! I’ll definitely be coming back!

I dont like giving not so great reviews. but the 2 other reviews raved about this place and it is close to my house and I was in a chinese mood and wanted to try and find something good nearby. Got the cashew chicken. but the not listed ingredients of veggies were peas and carrots, the chicken was hot and cooked but really had no coating and the sauce that was there, which wasnt much and just basically on the bottom didn’t have much of a flavor. The Egg rolls weren’t much to write home about, they were just okay and just egg rolls. The girl was friendly and the food was very hot and the wait was not bad, but the food itself, just not wonderful. I prob wont’ go back to this place.
