I joined the Blackbox as an overweight stressed out joker. I was an out of shape 220lb half-a-pack a day smoker. I did basic lifting and light running before but with no real lifestyle changes. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Danny, Jordan, Jack, Josh and the rest of the Blackbox family turned my life around. From the coaches to every participant, thehy made me feel welcome from Day 1. They started out with a get-to-know you session where they get a feel for your goals and lifestyle. This was followed by a few one-on-one session to teach me the basic movements. In no time at all I was working out in the group classes. Every class had one or more coaches there paying close attention to every person’s lifts. They’d address your weaknesses and point out your strengths. Every person that attended the box quickly became a second family. They would host potluck meetups to get to know each other, share recipes, and keep every one motivated. I can honestly say the entire Black box experience was the best thing to happen to my physical and mental. In less than 6 months I dropped to 185lbs and ran in the 2012 Chicago Marathon. When it came time to leave college station it would be a gross understatement to say I would miss this place. Everyone here took a personal interest in my well being. The lessons I learned here affect me to this day. Since then I have completed 2 more marathons, a 70.3 Ironman and a Ragnar Relay. The fitness mindset that they preach has become permanently ingrained in me. If you’re looking to make a lifestyle change, or take your fitness to the next level I guarantee you the Black box team will help you get there. I can’t thank them enough!

Looking to change your life and the way you think about diet, exercise, fitness, and well-being in general? Your search ends here my friends. When I came to Black box, I was too fat, drank too much, stressed to the max, and out of shape. Now, I am the opposite of those things. Jordan and her team of trainers will help you reach your goals and change your life. They will be there to mentor, guide, and coach you every step of the way to the new you. They will push you when you need to be pushed, and rest you when you need it. Jordan & Co. are all about feedback, sometimes even scaling the workout on the spot. The exercise part is based loosely on cross-fit but with the flair of Dutch Lowy. The theme here is fit for life. Not he-man woman haters or what I like to call«the meat market.»(You know, places like the Rec, Golds, etc– where people occupy space, look in mirrors, and very little work is done.) It is really a place for the whole family for whole fitness. There are also really good sport specific trainers.(You didn’t hear this from me but there may or may not be an Aggie football player or two– maybe some Rugby studs in the gym regularly…) This gym is the whole package. It is not the classic give you a piece of paper and turn you lose on the equipment. Jordan & Co. work on every aspect of your life and fitness. They do nutrition counseling and programming, they will work on your posture, stress management, balance, and flexibility. Hell, they even offer Yoga classes from the lovely Val Smith! There are always challenges to participate in, a fun atmosphere to work out in, and welcome faces when you walk in. Everyone from the staff and clients gets five stars. I know, I am a VERY satisfied customer.
