The equipment at this Gold’s Gym is decent, but there just isn’t enough equipment for all the people who come here. Overall, in my opinion, they don’t have very much free weight equipment compared to the number of members that they have. They have only 2 squat racks and 4 Olympic platforms. That is not nearly enough equipment for the number of people who use their facilities. This gym gets very crowded in the afternoons and evenings. 6 – 10 am on weekdays is really the only time when I didn’t have to wait to use a squat rack or Olympic platform. I’ve come there in the afternoons on weekdays and waited 20 minutes to use a squat rack on several occasions. That is just a huge waste of time. I recommend that people shop around for a better gym in College Station.

Pros: 1) great fitness classes. Anything taught by Yvi is beyond expectations and probably why the review has even 3 stars(she in herself is 5 stars) 2)Nice aura 3) when cancelled membership online, I had absolutely no faith in system. I was pleasantly surprised. They didn’t charge me after my last due payment and I had no trouble with anything at all. Very efficient. Cons: equipment in the ladies area sucks Equipment in the main floor can use upgrades Water fountains suck

Eh, they addressed some of the issues I had in my last review. Lady Gold’s is finally attempting to be «separate but equal.» I still have to bring my own jump rope to the gym, because I can never seem to find one for my height, even out on the main floor. Can’t win them all, I guess. I still really wish they’d update some of the equipment in Lady Gold’s by including a walking treadmill or one of the high-stepper ellipticals. Those are the only factors keeping me a 3-star instead of a 4. I also highly recommend the kickboxing class; the instructor is very encouraging and motivating. And the class is challenging in a good way. She also remembers my name! I also really enjoy the woman who teaches body pump on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Even though I can’t go anymore because of back problems, she’s an excellent instructor!

Run down equipment and staff is generally friendly but most have that«paid to smile» vibe. If you are a normal working-age adult, probably not the best place. More for college kids and professors wives.

Signing up to join the gym was super easy, the staff was very nice and informative. I worked out here for a year with a signed contract and enjoyed the facility. My 12 months ran out and I began their month to month billing. But once I moved away, I was no longer interested in working out here anymore, so I canceled my membership. Which means nothing because they will still bill you for the next billing cycle which makes no sense because I don’t want to be there anymore. Why would you charge me an entire month? Then once that is all said and done they told me my membership ended on March 5th. So I worked out March 4th, and came in the next day on the 5th to get my last workout in,. and they wouldn’t allow me in and the older lady was quite rude about it. If I wasn’t going to be allowed in, doesn’t that mean my membership expired on the 4th then? After paying these overpriced pricks for over a year and a few months I can’t get one more workout? Awesome equipment, a lot of gym rats. Gains for days though. Loved the actual gym, Hated the policies and staff.

Worst customer experience ever. Ive never been to a gym with such rude front desk employees– absolutely no clue what’s going on with unbelievably rude attitudes. I really wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone unless they enjoy dealing w such people.

I personally didn’t have the best experience during my year at Gold’s. I was happy to see they had a women’s area in the gym because honestly, the main part of the gym always felt like it had people standing around and not doing a lot. Their«resting» between sets was extremely long and I always felt like I was waiting to use everything… so I settled for the less crowded women’s area. Everything was decently clean, especially the bathrooms. That was always a plus for this Gold’s. I attended several of the classes, including Step, Zumba, and the Power/Strength class. All of these I had also attended before, so I had experience in all of them. I was disappointed in each. The Step class was the same every single time I attended and the steps/combos weren’t challenging enough for anyone who wasn’t a beginner. I usually don’t get bored in a Step class, but I was bored in this one. For Zumba, it was kind of the same thing, especially since the instructor wasn’t the friendliest and I didn’t feel very welcomed in the class. The Power/Strength was ok, but I also didn’t feel like the instructor pushed me enough, so I never felt like going back. I love classes and was supplementing my Gold’s membership by taking random classes at other places. It was more expensive for me, but I was much more willing to pay other gyms for day-passes than not have any classes at all. What really turned me away from this Gold’s was the personal trainer that I signed up with. When I signed up for Gold’s, I got 3 free training sessions. I did my first(and only) session about two months after I signed up. I was excited because the trainer had stated he was a cyclist as well and we could work on building up that strength. But I was so disappointed in this training session. It seemed like he just went through a «normal routine» that he would do with any of his clients. There didn’t seem to be anything specialized about the session and I also didn’t feel like he taught me anything that I could take back and use during the days I wasn’t working with him. Also, a big red flag, he didn’t allow any time between a huge bit of cardio and ab work that had my head going below my heart. I nearly fainted and then he was confused when I wouldn’t finish with that part of it. He also talked about himself the ENTIRE hour and a half. I pretty much knew his whole back-story, why he was there, what was important to him, and that he had gone to Northgate the night before. Never did he ask me about my background, my goals or what I wanted to accomplish, or something that would have helped him in my session. Overall, I was disappointed in this Gold’s and was so excited when my year contract was up so I didn’t have to pay anymore. I will never join a Gold’s gym again.

I enjoyed Gold’s Gym until It came time for me to move. They made it sound extremely easy to get out of a contract when I first signed up. but let me just tell you, it is anything but easy. They continue to charge your account 30 days after you turn in your cancellation slip. In order to cancel they need a piece of official mail addressed to your future address. Which means, by the time you have official mail going to your new address, chances are you are no longer living in College Station and no longer able to use the gym you are forced to continue paying. They will give you a blue form upon canceling, KEEPYOURBLUEFORM. A couple of weeks after canceling I called to see when the last charge would be and the employee said they«forgot» to process my cancellation form. She proceeded to tell me that they«forget» to process paperwork frequently. I then had to go in and take my blue form in person in order to ensure cancellation. Now 30 days after canceling, they are continuing to charge me. Ridiculous. Think twice before giving them your credit card information.

Somehow Unilocal has filtered two other negative reviews that say the same thing, so I’m hoping that won’t happen to me as well. This gym is seriously not worth the money that you will end up spending for services not used or cancelled. They will do anything they can to make sure you end up paying even after you have decided to stop using the gym and cancel your services. An acquaintance who works at a bank in town says that they regularly tell their customers to close the account associated with Gold’s gym and just go ahead and open up a new one because that’s the only way they know that Gold’s won’t keep taking money from that. Please please please do yourself a favor and check out the other gyms in town.

I would not even allow for«one star» except they make you. This place is as incompetent as they come. If you sign a contract, bring a lawyer to review the fine print for you or it will come back to haunt you. I purchased personal training sessions with my membership– after 6 of my 12 sessions my PT stopped returning my calls, I called the office and somebody took messages for me, etc. finally 3 weeks later I find out the trainers visa had expired and she had been in another country entirely. Nice. They asked if I’d like another trainer, I said sure. The only one who could work with my schedule had an opening in 2 weeks I signed up for it showed up 2 weeks later and wouldn’t you know my 6 sessions had expired so now I couldn’t use them despite the fact my trainer went MIA(and that they NEVER told me my sessions expired before my year gym membership was up!!) then we move with about 2 months left on the contract and figured we’d just finish it out yet after the year I am still getting charged. We call and cancel it now 6 months later we get a call from a collection agency bc we did not«mail in a letter to confirm our cancellation in writing as part of the stipulations of our contract» which nobody at this lovely establishment bothered to tell us. Needless to say it was hundreds of dollars wasted, and a VERY negative experience. I couldn’t ever even get a manager there to take my call which is seriously poor reflection of their staff.

Go to Aerofit. They have the same equipment, plus a pool and tennis courts, AND they won’t charge your card over and over even after you have cancelled your membership

This is the best gym I have ever been a member of! Everyone that works here is super nice, it’s clean, the equipment is all newer, and the location is great. I’ve never had trouble finding a parking space and can’t recall ever having to wait to use a machine. They have a wide array of group classes offered at various times during the day which makes it easy on people with busy schedules. The only downside is that if you go during peak hours(ie– right before or after work) the classes tend to get crowded so show up early to ensure you get a spot. There is also a women’s only workout room straight to the back, so if you’re a chick and can’t find a machine you need in the main area you can head there.

Compared to the location in Bryan, TX., this gym has way more equipment and extended hours. More meatheads at this location but I got love for everyone. ahaha
