Cool place, great drinks and food, and their tables rock! Unfortunately, I mean that literally; the tables are super unbalanced.

Friendly workers, indie coffeehouse/rock/pop songs(so much hipster vibe, imagine yourself at sxsw), and yummy drinks. Fast wifi. I was impressed by the quality tea they used: mesh teabag with whole flowers/tea leaves, compared to paper teabags with chopped up tea leaves that only release flavor and caffeine when immersed with hot water.

Yikes. This place just has kept getting worse since the last time I came here. It’s a bit hipster, but it hasn’t been well maintained for quite some time. I came here the other day and it was just too overcrowded. I guess that’s what happens when you come to a coffee shop near an major University during finals week huh? The coffee was just mediocre. I normally drink it black, but even the slightly milky/sweetened drinks weren’t quite too my liking. So, just mediocre coffee and extremely crowded — literally no where in site to find a seat. There were some broken tables outside, but who wants to sit there in the pouring rain and when it’s super cold outside. All in all, this place has turned from a coffee shop to a library in the last few times I have visited.

I wanted to try something new. But because they only have regular and soy milk, we turned around and walked out. Even Starbucks has milk alternatives(although poor in quality). We ended up heading to Sweet Eugenes since they have more variety. Almond and coconut milk lasts forever in the fridge, it’s not hard to keep on hand or expensive.

I got the iced coffee and it was so watered down it tasted like water more than coffee. It seems to me like they add extra water to make the coffee go a bit further… the guy said that thats just the way they make it and that i have to get the iced espresso or whatever if i want it stronger… I just think its ridiculous because I get iced coffee everywhere else and it’s always so strong… Other than that everythings pretty yummy and theres a really pretty outdoor area to study in… However, theres this«really cool dude» who is ALWAYS outside on beautiful days chain smoking cigars. CIGARS. Really?! It makes it really hard to enjoy a peaceful day of studying outside in the really cute garden. Cigarettes are one thing… but cigars are STRONG and last forever, and he smokes them there for hours. Just a warning for those of you who dont want second hand lung cancer.

Mugwall’s is definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in BCS. I don’t think it’s as busy and cluttered as other coffee places here. The place is very chill and workers are always very friendly. All orders come out pretty quickly. Overall this is my favorite place to study and read. I like the dark/low key lighting and how they have seating area outside! When the weather gets nice sitting outside is an excellent option. Love this place overall and I recommend this place for anyone. Especially college students who’s looking for a place for all!

Coffee is pretty good. I got the regular coffee, and had some ice added. No it wasn’t the«iced coffee». I was going to get that, but that’s about $ 2 more. Just a heads up. Not sure why that is. I’m pretty sure it’s the same coffee, amount, etc. Anyways, it’s pretty smooth. Pretty cool looking place too. They have a second story overlooking the main café and a courtyard in the back. Haven’t tried the food so I’m not sure if my rating is accurate, but it seems like a good place so far. Thanks for helping me out Allison

In love with their Roman Breakfast Tacos! And they have a nice selection of fresh teas. It’s always nice to come in here an chill by yourself. Lovely study environment as well.

Given the popularity of Mugwalls, one would assume it to be a good place to get coffee and just relax or study, right? I’ve never been a fan of Mugwalls, despite having friends that came here often by preference. As such, I’ve gone to Mugwalls a lot over the past few years. Beverage-wise, I don’t think the drinks are anything special. They’re not good, but they’re not bad, and they definitely don’t warrant the prices in my opinion. During busier hours, it also takes a while for the order to get ready. However, my biggest beef is with the environment. Perhaps it’s personal preference, but I don’t think Mugwalls is very comfortable. It’s two stories high, with a good amount of tables and chairs on the second story and couches and larger tables on the first floor. However, I feel like there’s too much seating. What I mean is, it can get crowded. Not only that, but the furniture is decidedly low quality — what’s there is uncomfortable, and a good number of the furniture is also in bad shape. Tables would shake excessively, making it a bad choice for actual writing on. The couches all feel excessively cheap and not maintained well at all. The atmosphere is also something that Mugwalls can’t seem to get right. On the second floor, I’ve either been burning up because of how warm it was, or freezing to death. Apparently a comfortable temperature is impossible to maintain, at least on the second floor. Despite having free wi-fi, it’s probably the worst free wi-fi I’ve experienced around here. For some reason they have three access points despite the small size of the store, and then the speeds are pretty atrocious. Some days, I wouldn’t even be able to get a connection. Everything being said, Mugwalls is still a decent establishment that’s limited in numbers in College Station, especially so given the most popular demographic — college students. It’s just there are much better options in my opinion, and I’ll always prefer those compared to the stuffy, uncomfortable store I view Mugwalls as.

Honestly, even compared to The Village and Harvest, Mugwalls has hands down the best chai latte I’ve had in BCS.(Oh, and I’m not even going to bother with a comparison to Sweet E’s. You know better. Don’t go there.) Mugwalls is literally always packed to the seams with studying college students. I rarely, if ever find a seat here. And the parking situation looks easy, but it’s pretty bleak since most spots are reserved for retail. Anyway, back to the shop. The coffee takes a while to get(~15 min) when it’s at its peak business(which can literally be at any time, because you know how we students do). My favorite thing about Mugwalls, other than the drinks, is that it’s open so late. The Wi-Fi is reliable, and the atmosphere is great for studying. It’s crazy cold every time I’ve been though, so bring like a down comforter and your best parka to avoid frostbite. 5 *‘s for the coffee. 4*‘s for the studying(if you can even find seating). 3 *‘s for the number of times I’ve come here to study/hang out only to find a whopping total of 0 seats. It’s an obvious BCS fave, so I tend to favor the less busy shops in the area if I’m not getting a drink to-go.

It is so strange to me that this place has worse reviews than Sweet Eugene’s because Mugwalls beats Sweet Eugene’s by a mile. Or a thousand. That being said, I don’t think Mugwalls has the best coffee, but it does, at the least, taste like a cup of coffee. Based on espresso and coffee – their brew is pretty decent and kind of strong. I can definitely taste it in most of the drinks I’ve had there. I don’t recommend any of their specialties(honestly, what is up with College Station coffee shops and all these freaking specialties) unless you like super sugary coffee. Too much cream, too much sugar, too much chocolate – I think I got the iced mugwalls, and it tasted like iced hot chocolate. Not my cup of tea(or coffee). The decorum inside is on the verge of being cute, but at the same time, they took all the mugs off the wall and since then, it kind of looks like a warehouse. Which brings down the ambiance and the mood by a LOT. But that was back in the beginning of December 2014, so maybe it’s changed since then. There’s an upstairs and a downstairs, and the space is still kind of small. It gets busy pretty quickly, so a lot of the good seats to study get taken up rather fast. The service has always been nice. All in all, I think Mugwalls has some of the better coffee in College Station. But really, there’s not much to choose from, and I’ve only tried two coffee houses. Hope to think better the next time I visit.

$ 3.50 for a 4 shot latte! No foam art, but you can get a ceramic cup if you insist. I had avoided this place because it is in an unprepossessing strip mall sandwiched between two rhinestone-peddling boutiques. Inside is surprisingly bohemian, with sturdy secondhand furnishings and a nice upstairs area where you can avoid the theology discussions.(I have nothing against it, I just need a quiet corner to contemplate lesser matters.) Interestingly, the sister shop in Bryan is pricier and more upscale, with slow-brewed coffee and organic muffins. The only thing missing? A stage area for poetry slams and semi-homeless blues guitar players to distract us evenings. Pretty nice place to hang out, and the price is pretty unbeatable. The lattes are a bit on the quantity over quality side.

Espresso shots only in doubles, least fav espresso in town. Every time I have gone in here there has been one guy just standing at the front counter talking his brain off, even when you try to order he just keeps going. It trips me out, I think it’s the 3rd time this past visit I have witnessed him. No staff or anybody tells him to stay away from the ordering counter, very bothersome. I also ordered 3 espresso shots and the dude told me they only come in doubles, I said OK I will take two doubles. He confused the heck out of me after that by saying you want 4 or two doubles, and I kept saying I want 4 total espresso shots brosive, and hes like so you want 2 doubles or 4 espresso shots… it seemed like he was messing with me, but none the less good riddance I am a UnilocalER brosive. Their espresso is by far the worst, lack of flavor, lack of WHOOP in a coffee in College Station, Tx. My knowledge of espresso in CS is by one day we went to 10 different coffee shops in College Station, TX and got one and left, Mugwalls was #10 on the list of espresso quality. I also tried Iced Coffee here which tasted watered down and flat, If your looking for a place to study, loud guys chattering their brains off, and okay espresso Mugwalls is for you. Will not be going back anytime soon. Though their interior is pretty awesome, and I would study here if I was in College.

I’m definitely going to miss Mugwalls when I graduate in just a few weeks. The parking lot is stupidly annoying during peak hours, but that’s not their fault: p My favorites are the chai latte and caramel macchiato. Greg D. brought up a good point — why hasn’t anyone reviewed the food?! They have a pretty extensive menu with sandwiches, quesadillas, breakfast tacos… the pulled pork taco is different but still really good. I think they have free wifi if I remember correctly. And the staff is always super friendly without being fake… haha. I’ll miss you, Mugwalls!
