This I.O. Metro is located in Carriage Crossing Mall. I stumbled upon it by chance one day while visiting, and decided to look around as I had never heard of this particular furniture store and Vern Yip’s HGTV-y head was smiling at me from advertisements all over the windows. Vern Yip can do no wrong, and far be it from me to pass up an opportunity to see the furnishings he is advertising that I need for my home. This is my new favorite furniture and accessory store. I spent a good 2 hours in here just roaming the store, taking photos of different pieces to get an idea of what would work once I got back in my space. The furniture has a modern, yet retro vibe to it. Most all of the furniture and accessories here would work in either décor. My tastes are more of the retro/vintage/classic look. There were a lot of chairs, sideboards, ottomans and the like that were borrowing lines and patterns from the 50s era– and I was in love. I felt like everything was priced pretty decently. Sure there are dressers and dining room sets above the $ 1,000 mark, but those that were had the quality to back that price tag up. I fell in love with quite a few pieces, but only took home a down filled chair with a clearance tag on the arm. Slate grey, overstuffed and squishy, yet still has a solid shape to it. Regularly $ 650, marked down to $ 350. Seriously?! I needed an armchair of sorts for the nursery we are decorating, and this was perfect. When I sit in it, it hugs me and will look wonderful in our living room once it has served its purpose in the baby’s room. I love this chair and still(months later) feel like I’ve in some way reaped more benefits from this sale than Metro. They have options for upholstery. Oh the freaking options. If you cannot make decisions, don’t even begin to look! If you like a certain chair, ottoman, love seat, couch, etc but not the current fabric residing on it, you can have one specially ordered in the fabric of your choice. The ottoman that was supposed to go with my clearance chair was far too big for my liking. I decided to wait and come back for a custom upholstered one once I figured out the color scheme in the room. They also have an insane amount of accessories– lamps, mirrors, art, canvas prints, vases, pillows, bedspreads, curtains– the list goes on and on. I have found that their accessories are extremely reasonably priced, much cheaper than their furniture. I look at it like their gift to me for purchasing the larger, more expensive items. Thanks for playing Erica B. Come again soon!
