Located just a short train-ride outside of Philadelphia in a quaint South Jersey town, the Pop Shop is a modern take on the old fashioned soda shops our grandparents would have frequented as teens. Know for their grilled cheeses, the menu is long with lots of clever(i.e, pancake fries) and some even nonsensical dishes(i.e, mac n’ cheese grilled cheese). Considering it is mostly a kid-friendly establishment, I was surprised that they have an entire vegan section on the menu. I opted to try the Vegan Cheesesteak. It was giant and stuffed full of seitan, mushrooms and onions. I just didn’t really care for their homemade soy cheese. Would have been better with daiya cheddar. Just be warned, it’s noisy. And if there’s a child birthday party going on, you might want to bring ear plugs or check back in an hour.

The food was great, service was fine, but the place was filthy. The bathroom in particular was disgusting.

Great food; nice atmosphere outside the usual rush times when the kiddies take over.

Waving the white flag of tasty goodness. My boyfriend and I went here for the dinner portion of put date. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly. The fried pickles were delicious, and the helping was huge. It was obvious that there were made fresh. The grilled cheese sandwiches were well priced and so yummy that we could barely touch the parmigian garlic fries… so we tool them to go. We were so full we couldn’t have dessert. Although I did use the Unilocal coupon to get a NY chocolate egg cream. Growing up near NYC, I can say this was the real deal. I have the Groupon voucher for a weekday meal and I can’t wait to use it!

The place was very crowded if you don’t want to hear screaming kids this might not be the place for you. Honestly half the restaurant has kids under 2. Our food was ok. I ordered the bananas foster waffle. Sounds yummy. but when I came to my table honestly looked liked someone threw up on my waffle. The taste was ok but not what I expected. My son ordered the same thing but with French toast needless to say he felt the same way. Maybe if u stick with bacon and eggs. But one good note was our waiter did a great job and was very nice.

The Pop Shop is one of my favorite restaurants EVER. I live in Florida now and I still crave a plate of bettys(pancakes) from here! Yes, it is very loud and kind of cramped — but it’s because it’s so popular and tasty! It’s totally worth sitting close to other people while you’re eating your meal! Some of my favorite things on the HUGE menu are: — Bettys(pancakes) They are the size of a plate — and you get a stack of them! The Hawaii Five-Oh or Banana Walnut ones are the best! — Grilled Cheeses(of course!) The Pop Shop is known for their plethora of grilled cheeses. I love the Haddon and the Park(it’s on a Philly pretzel!) –Appetizers for sharing! My favorite is the Mac ‘n Cheese Sampler. You get a taste of all their mac and cheeses served with pretzel crisps. You need to try the Pop Shop!

Had dinner here last night… ordered a burger with raw onions, lettuce and tomato. Was given carmelized onions by mistake, omg… the burger was delish and the onions made it better. My daughter had an omelet(breakfast all day) it was huge and she said delish as well. Kids had you know kids stuff(same everywhere). Service was great! My only complaint the place could be cleaner. That’s the managers fault.

Staff was friendly and helpful eith extensive menu. We enjoyed our grilled cheese on sourdough with tomato soup. We loved the cheesesteak fries! Served with cheese whiz-also how we like our cheesesteaks :)

Probably about the 3rd or 4th time I’ve come here. Food is good and moderately priced, great tasting desserts also. Staff is friendly and polite. It can get pretty busy at times during lunchtime & after the local schools end classes. Personally I’m not a fan of the tables/seating arrangements but it’s not that big of a deal when it’s fairly empty. The noise level can be a little excessive, but service is usually fast. PROS: great food, polite staff, good prices CONS: noise level, seating arrangements, gust of wind from that front door whenever it opens lol

I went with my husband and 2 small children. The place is NOISY and HOT. it’s an atmosphere that is kid friendly though — can’t go wrong with chicken tenders and ice cream. The food was good, for diner food. The service was not. After a lengthy wait for our lunch, we had to ask the waitress for napkins and silverware. She looked at me, when we made the request, like I had two heads. Sure, my 2 year old could eat his turkey and mashed potatoes without a fork and napkin — have fun cleaning that up! After we got the much needed utensils, we never saw her again. She never checked on us, no drink refills, totally MIA. We finally got her, ordered ice cream and she brought the check. Again, ignored. We were ready to go, so I took our check to a girl in front of a register. She snapped that«I had to pay my server». So we waited… and waited… we weren’t the only ones with this issue either. There was a couple of older women who were also in distress at the confusion of who to pay, and her current location. Sad. This could have ended so much better.

Pop Shop at home in five easy steps: 1) eat a whole rotisserie chicken 2) insert firecracker into chicken carcass 3) place carcass under table 4) pour soda on lap 5) light firecracker KABOOM you’re at the Pop Shop now! You’re welcome. Would be one star but, for some reason, my kids like it.

There have been no times in which the boys did not ask for more… today was one of those days. Actually heard the statement«We are full» All the food was great, the description in the menu being spot on. Everything was delicious and even had a to go box for tomorrow I believe one of the owners(a nice lady) walked around checking on everyone, even cleared our table and got a bag for our boxes. Patrick our server was great! He was attentive and checked on us regularly. He was particularly patient because we had a hard time deciding since there is a large menu. There a little something for everyone. Will definitely be back. We tried: the haddon and colling to start; the black and white pancakes, the inferno burger, the arlington and the dayton for the mains; the shaken bacon milkshake and the cookie dough poppers.

I’m not a big breakfast fan, but this place makes good breakfast. I will have to come back and try their lunch items next time. Ordered the cajun benedict, and my oh my did it have a nice kick(I liked it! lol). The only thing I would change is how thick the biscuit/bread was that the poached eggs were served on top of. I also tried the lobster benedict. Although I really enjoyed both, I enjoyed the lobster one better. I guess I’m just a seafood kind of guy! Service was awesome. Everyone was very nice, upbeat and extremely helpful. Price was also very reasonable for the size of the entrees too. SCORE! Overall — I will be back, especially because they are so kid friendly here.

Mmm! This place is awesome. I love the milkshakes, the food, the service, and the environment. Such a great place for the kiddies. They get to draw on sailor hats and wear them. And, to make it even better for them, they’re allowed to grab a balloon upon leaving the restaurant(my son popped his in the car and was all sad afterwards, but it gave him great joy when he first received it). Came on a Sunday morning, and although crowded, I was greeted and seated within 5 minutes. Server was awesome and very patient. I had my 2 year old son with me and trying to decide what he wants can be a lil time consuming, so I was happy that the server didn’t seem irritated that we took some time before ordering. Lobster benedict — So yummy! Chunks of lobster meat and the price for it wasn’t bad. Butterfinger Milkshake — ordered this for my son. He didn’t drink much of it, but I thought it was great. Chocolate fudge volcano cake with a scoop of vanilla — OMG, this was heaven! So nice and moist and rich. I would come back and just eat this by itself. I was so stuffed from my meal that I couldn’t finish it though. So so sad :-( Only one thing I would change… that the kids drink didn’t come in paperlike cups. Once the drink started condensating, it made the paper very weak and felt like it was getting very thin and about to tear. But besides that lil small item. everything was 5 Stars!

It’s hit or miss here with being able to get a table quickly or not but its worth the wait. My usual here is the New Jersey Grilled Cheese and Gravy Fries. The NJ Grilled Cheese has provolone, grilled chicken, tomato, and pesto on ciabatta. Delish! This time, I went for brinner. I got Yo Scrapple Benedict. AMAZE-BALLS! I didn’t even get to the hash browns. This was poached eggs, scrapple, on a south Philly pretzel roll with a hollandaise sauce. It was so good! I was so full from half of it. I’ve had a few of their desserts and they are all good. You definitely need to come here with an empty stomach.

My first time trying the pop shop was for my daughters Birthday breakfast. We ordered the S’mores French toast. It was good, but the description on the menu says it has marshmallows & graham crackers on top. Ours did not have marshmallows & I didn’t taste any graham crackers at all. It tasted ok, not as good as it sounded. I ordered the oatmeal, another huge portion of mushy sweet oatmeal served with a side of brown sugar. No need for the xtra sugar it was sweet enough. I don’t see what all the hype was about. Enormous portions of unhealthy crap! The bathroom was filthy when we were there. Don’t think I’ll ever be back too many other good choices out there

I have been here plenty of times and the food is always delish. Today I got the usual 5bs no tomato! Brie and goat cheese as a grilled cheese! Noms! I’ve had breakfast before and sometimes I feel the portions are too huge. Like jokingly huge. It’s packed on the weekends and definitely a family place with lots of kids. Gets noisy most times. But whether your 5 or 50 you definitely wouldn’t want to miss this place.

Another perfect Pop Shop visit. I’ve been several times since my initial review and this place never disappoints. I love breakfast here — the Peggy Sue Got Hungry omelette is awesome. The Black and Tan sundae is very good, too as is the cheesecake churro. The fries and grilled cheese sandwiches never disappoint! Yesterday I dined alone prior to meeting up with friends to paint at All Fired Up and I had a lovely meal and conversation with Aislinn(not sure how to spell her name). I didn’t know that I could get a one scoop sundae until yesterday so kudos to her for sharing that info. Their desserts are enormous!

We came here because my cousin was raving about it with the different styles of dishes they offer. Checking in got me a freebie in a specialty fountain soda and cherry cream coke was her name. I love the freebies when checking in, what can I say. Newspaper style form as a menu, are handed to you so you could peruse the different options Plate fillers basically, They pretty much made sure every square inch of your dish was covered. The quality though was a little on the«eehh«side though, but the quanity was there. Line was formed outside, call ahead for reservations, even then you still could be waiting outside. The Pop Shop is great for kids as they get to enjoy themselves with what they have to offer. Grown-ups, make sure you are not hung over from the night before, the high pitch screeching will feel like knives entering your ears. The food again was«eehh» but the desserts were GREAT this is why they get star number 3. I suggest any of the milkshakes, you’ll be happy with it. Again I leave it up to you with the desserts, thats my preference. It would make the noise of the kids seem like a walk in the park. Great for the kids, like I had mentioned earlier. Pop Shop even will book parties for your kids, with the second room located in the back of the establishment. Myself I’d come back, but only for dessert.
