The staff is hit and miss very unprofessional and also very unobservant, just because I’m not your table doesn’t mean you can help when the waitress who is serving my table is overwhelmed with a party of 10. I just need to say I given this place 3 try’s and each time it’s been something different, 1st time I had plastic wrap in my sandwich(my $ 13 dollar sandwich) also had to listen to one waiter chewing out the waitress who was just standing around not doing anything and unable to ring things up right, side note, this is the same woman standing around the second time I went in and didn’t offer a helping hand when the waitress was overwhelmed. Second visit, waited 30 minutes before we even got water and another 10 before our beer even came. 3 waitresses and only one dealing with all the big tables and overwhelmed. Other two had the not my tables not my problem attitude! Really?! Food was okay but it seems the sauce they used in the Cottage pie is the same as cheese beer soup, how creative?! All in all its gonna be hit or miss if you choose to visit this restaurant, I think they need a serious overhaul in their wait staff and a little more team work and professionalism. The cook might also take a serious look at remembering that you are what you serve and slow food is better than fast food it’s up to you to lead your kitchen and your staff, even when overwhelmed never let them see you sweat! My 3rd visit was for drinks only and you just can’t really mess up beer’s at the bar cause then your right up front and center, seem to be the best of all experiences, at the bar for beer!

A fun, local place in OCC. I’ve only ever been here for after dinner drinks, so I cannot speak to their food, but their drinks are always great and the service is wonderful. A neat atmosphere, will definitely be going back.

Alchemy is where Gertrudes used to be. We stopped by to have a look at the brand new location. The food was amazing! Tough to spell out the unbelievable combination of flavors on a sandwich. Lunch or dinner is essential for people who adore amazing food and great libations.

Love the drinks. They have a great selection on brew. But they also have great non-beer beverages that they actually use fresh ingredients and muddle them into amazing adult beverages. Perfect for those days when you don’t know what you want to drink. They have a wonderful selection for the picky palette. The waitstaff and other customers were so friendly and welcoming. I will go back every chance I get.

I bought the fifteen for twenty two Unilocal deal after driving down from Boulder. I called to order pickup. They informed me the kitchen closes at 1:30. When I pointed out it was only 1:18, the gentleman on the phone replied«not on bar time.» I really wish I was allowed to do that at the restaurant I work at! I’d kind of like my 15 dollars back since these guys apparently exist in a slightly different, more dickish timeline, and I’m leaving in the morning to head home to New Orleans. As an actual Irish citizen, I’m saddened but not all too surprised by this behavior.

Stopped in after visiting the Garden of the Gods. Turkey melt special was very good. Had the home made mustard instead of mayo. Awesome. Nicole is very friendly.

Such a great pub! Wonderful mixology cocktails and a huge menu that leaves no taste bud undazzled. I will come back every chance I get!
Excellent fresh food with lots of flavor, really nice wait staff, and fun atmosphere. Really interesting menu that they change seasonally. We went for lunch and weren’t drinking, but I can’t wait to go back for a night in the town. Highly recommend!

This place would get more stars if it weren’t for the insanely loud jazz musician. He’s a decent musician, but I came here for the drink, food and atmosphere. Turn it down man!

Knock your socks off good beef stroganoff and shepards chili. The pretzel appetizer was great too! Good daft beer selection in this cozy little pub. Definitely coming back!

I went to Alchemy for a Christmas Party last week. It was great! The staff was friendly and helpful but not overly invasive. The appetizers were tasty especially the beer cheese soup paired with the pretzel sticks and, the scotch eggs were spot on. And that was all before the duck entrée that was one of the pre-ordered selections for dinner. Delicious! I’m including a picture.

Atmosphere and appetizers mix together in a great way… Quail Scotch Eggs, The Hen sandwich and a twist on the Reuben sandwich… all great tasting — dessert Death By Chocolate martini finished a great meal… local pub atmosphere had friendly and attentive staff… prices were VERY reasonable

Really cool pub in downtown, not very large but neat décor and they had a really good milk stout on tap from Colorado. Started with Scottish quail eggs. Two eggs total cut in half with two halves with mustard sauce and two with gravy. Rosemary sausage is excellent and the sauces compliment but the eggs themselves could have been regular eggs and would have made it a little better for portion. Shepherds pie is excellent with potatoes that are actually mashed instead of instant potatoes and all the veggies and meat tastes fresh. It was like a beef stew with potatoes in the middle. no puff pastry, but I forgot about that as soon as I started Gf had the duck sliders and when I looked up they were gone. Apparently they were incredible. The only thing that lacked was we tried the guacamole potato salad and it tasted like a cheap guacamole packet with some potato chunks in it. We ordered it as a novelty item anyway. If you’re in the mood for some pub food, this is the place to come.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. It was not very crowded and we got quick service. They had a good, but pretty short beer list — it did have a little bit of everything, the basic, locals, and Irish beers. My husband had the alchemist which was light, unique and very delicious. We started with the duck sammie sliders. My husband generally does not like relish and loved the relish on these. These were rich and flavorful with a good pop and balance from the sage aioli and relish. My husband had the beer cheese soup. It was one of the best beer cheese soups I have had. The addition of the sausage adds great flavor and texture. I had the special warm turkey sandwich with prosciutto and bacon. Definitely one of the best turkey sandwiches I have had. The addition of the pork adds great crunch and flavor. I got sauteed vegetables on the side which were green beans and carrots in butter making them delicious, but definitely not too health. Old Colorado City is cute and this is great irish pub for a drink and/or a quick meal. We will be back if we are in the area again.

This place was so fun! The atmosphere is really cool with old alchemy bottles along the walls and on shelves. The staff was so nice and very prompt and the drink menu was amazing! All of the drinks had fruit or mint frozen in a ball of ice instead of ice cubes so it melts slower. The menu was delicious, especially the shepherd’s pie!

Two stars because: 1. Every period of time between when we were seated, ordered drinks, got drinks, ordered food, got food, asked for check, got check, and paid… took ten minutes for the turn around time. BTW I was with my 85 year old granny who was very thirsty, and said as much… but still waited 20 mins for water. We would have left but she badly needed a break from walking and the sun. 2. My aunt ordered a whole salad but got the side salad(as her whole meal?) and when we asked about it — the waitress assured us we were mistaken, we ordered a side portion mmmhmm 3. The food was not great, but prices are cheap so… 4. Maybe this place is much better at night? We went for a late lunch.

Went on a night that there was a festival going on, so parking was not pleasant. Ended up in a lot down the street where they let me park for free. Sat at the bar and felt comfortable. Had a couple wonderful beers. Ordered their salmon plate(sort of lox and bagels, but with nicely prepared salmon). It was heavenly! Smallish place. They had the front door open and enjoyed the fresh air coming in. I left happy!

Alchemy is a great addition to the Old Colorado City area. The draft beer menu is small but well selected, and the food is quite good. Service was great, even with a packed house. Daily happy hour from 4 – 7! House wine $ 3 glass/$ 12 bottle, wells $ 3, $ 1 off drafts. Alchemy would be my choice to go in OCC over the other pubs.
