So we checked out Mayo’s O’ Taste and See based on Unilocal reviews despite yesterday not working so well. Thank you. Awesome family run restaurant. Okay, so none of us liked the way the green beans were done, but the main dishes more than made up for it. The kids didn’t like the Mac and cheese(they weren’t fans of the black pepper) but oh my, the BBQ ribs were enough Pointe. My chicken fried steak? So, right there. Try it, you’ll like it. They are super nice as well. Big pluses.

Absolutely awesome place! The son helped me pick out a pork chop that his mother cooked to perfection! True definition of a mom and pop restaurant. If you’re ever in the area come to mayo’s! Wish it was 24⁄7! Btw Banana pudding was delicious!

Have to give Mayo’s a 5\5 and oh we’ll be back soon and tell all of our friends and family in the meantime! It was our first time dining here on a late Saturday afternoon. We were greeted immediately. After admitting we were new, we got a rundown of the menu, best sellers, suggestions for the kids, and the specials. I felt like I could order with confidence despite it being my first time. We ordered the half rack of ribs, seafood gumbo special, and an extra side order of macaroni and cheese. We shared all this between our family of four and still had enough for another meal! For dessert we ordered the peach cobbler and sweet potatoe pie. Plus drinks and all of this only cost us 38 dollars! The ribs are enormous, mouth watering, and had an awesome smoked flavor. The macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes have an authentic home cooked taste that reminds me of family meals in Pennsylvania. When I mentioned this they let me know they’re also from PA! The gumbo was packed with seafood and so flavorful with just a hint of heat in the background. Since they serve it with a heaping helping of rice, you can mix it to your tastes spice wise. My favorite of the meal has to be the peach cobbler. Warm like it was right out of the oven and so indescribably delicious! Definitely grab dessert while you’re there and at the price of 2.50 there is no reason not to! We will be back soon and be recommending this great place to family and friends.

I went here for lunch today. I ordered the fish, fried okra, corn bread, and collard greens. The person I was with ordered the ribs, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, and sweet potatoes. For dessert we ordered the peach cobbler. Everything was fresh and was pretty good. The macaroni could have used more salt, but the person I was with liked it. The only thing that I would change(I’m high maintenance) would be the sweet tea. It is not homemade and is the bottled Arizona sweet tea. Other than that I have no complaints and will definitely return. I almost went back for dinner just to try the gumbo and banana pudding.

Good old fashion home cooking. Delicious food all around can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Definitely try the catfish, ribs, and on Fridays the gumbo. Very courteous staff that wants to make sure you are taken care of and leave happy.

Mayo’s is pretty close to the real thing. I went for the second time, my first time was about 6 months ago, I work downtown and always forget about this place. On my first visit, I had the chicken wings. They almost reminded me of my Mom’s, speaking of my Mom, I think I’ll take her there. On my recent visit, yesterday, I had the catfish, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens. The catfish was seasoned and cooked expertly. The mac and cheese could use a little more cheese, but had a good flavor. The greens were good and you also get a piece of cornbread which was light, fluffy and slightly sweet. If you are looking for good soul food in Colorado Springs, aside from cooking it yourself, this is the place to go. But get there early, they close at 5:45 and are not open on weekends and holidays.

This place is great! Got the Friday gumbo special and might get another for dinner. It’s that good. Also, the cornbread is the best I’ve ever had. We recommend this place to everyone

Passing through and looking for a local place to get some lunch. Not expecting to find good soul food in Colorado but this place didn’t disappoint! We had a group of about 15 and everyone found something they liked. Clean bathrooms and the service was also exceptional!

Love hole in the walls that you can enjoy the food and not worry about your stomach later that night. Simple menu cooked fresh on order. Clean restrooms. Great okra, fries, sweet and savory collard greens. Get the Thai chicken Philly and ask for it spicy. Just the right amount of spice and so good!

Wasn’t too sure when we walked in. .. only one other couple there. ‘Course it was 3 in the afternoon too. Was definitely sure when I walked out if not a bit over-full. Ordered the fried pork chop since I wasn’t real hungry. It was huge! Collard Greens, Okra, cornbread. Thought for a minute I was back home in the south. Now, I want to go back and try some of the other menu items. Just got to meet one staff – the son of the owners. Great guy, friendly and helpful. Oh, and they had Lumpia. Haven’t had Lumpia since I was in the P.I. almost 50 years ago. I felt like tinikling! We’ll be back!

I stumbled upon Mayo on Unilocal and I’m so happy I did. I have been trying to go here but they close at 5:45 and not open some days, but I was super excited when I called and they were open. I got the ribs which came with a selection of two sides. The ribs were delicious! I got the collard greens and fried okra and both were also very good. You also get your choice of cornbread or rolls. All of this for $ 8.99! And it’s legit. I also had to try the banana pudding which was also pretty tasty. Nothing on the menu is over $ 9.99 and it’s all homemade deliciousness. The guy working in the front was also very nice and friendly. I will certainly be back and I would recommend you to give it a shot as well.

Real food with lots of flavor. I got the fried pork chop with collared greens and mac n’ cheese as sides. They close pretty early for dinner and everything is in a to-go container, but they are very friendly, the food is outstanding and the price is right. More than just BBQ.

Everything is delish! The food is homemade and you can taste the love. This is a family run business that cares about customer satisfaction. The ribs are fall off the bone, finger lickin good. The baked beans and corn bread pair perfectly with any dish. You would be a fool to pass on the homemade peach cobbler. The sweet potato pie is great too. Come in on a Friday to try the gumbo special. I WILL be back!
