Since Squeak is closing it’s doors on August 17th, we stopped in for our one and only visit recently. Squeak is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall which is located behind a Safeway. Not a stellar location. The lady who waited on us was extremely nice and cheerfully explained the works. I decided on a float and my companion got a cone. We both thought the ice cream was delicious. The blueberry cheesecake ice cream was soooooo good!!! The ice cream was actually reasonably priced. The bulk candy along the wall was approximately $ 2.80/quarter lb which seemed a bit steep. Many of the candy options were understandably out of stock, due to the store going out of business soon. Too bad they couldn’t make a go of it because I would definitely make the trek up this way, if only for the ice cream.

A previous reviewer said to go to the more others location, so you might want to check that out first. This location looks and feels very worn. Like they just had a party but haven’t fixed up afterwards. Girls are very nice at the counter. All the pictures on Unilocal of all those different soda bottles must be at the other location? None for sale here.

Definitely a kids hangout… We’re an early 30’s couple and had a recommendation to see this place while we were in town. We had a Butterbeer soda and some candy. The drink tasted good, but was flat right from the beginning so we only drank half… not really all that impressed. Small selection on candy, but that may have been because of the holidays. I might try it again if I lived here, but I don’t see that happening while we’re on vacation.

Oh Squeak… Why could u have a shop in the DMV… While visiting Colorado I found this jewel… The have about 40 different flavors you can choose from… I decided to go with a blueberry cheesecake float w/blueberry soda… A-freaking-mazing! I wanted to give this place a one star for the simple fact there only one shop like this! But I’m not a hater! Lol

We are regulars here. My son especially loves to introduce his friends and family to Squeak when they come to visit. What a great hang out for tweens and teens. Not too big of a space, so large groups might be slightly uncomfortable. Regardless, when they have the ice cream called«Breakfast» we LOVE it! I love the cucumber flavored soda. My son has all the propaganda, the hat and the tshirt, which he sports with pride around town. I’m so glad Squeak is in this town. Great concept! Every experience we have had here has been phenomenal.

So we took the kids on the 4th of July thinking it would be a treat. Not so much. Everyone who got a soda ended up throwing away at least half — none of them were very good at all. They were syrupy sweet, but the flavors were all a little odd. Even the kids didn’t like them. Also, extremely overpriced.

Great place if you LOVESODA! The owner was sooo nice and awesome. He had excellent customer service and was very patient with us. The shop is very unique, you come in, and could pick from over 70 flavors of soda and have them bottle it right then and there. I got a 6 pack and an extra bottle because I noticed that they had butter beer. My favorite flavors are: Pear, Watermelon, Peach, Cucumber and Green Tea.(Pretty much all of the flavors). I didn’t like Blue moon and Black Cherry as much because the flavor was a little too strong… but the rest were just awesome. I would definitely stop by again to try the root beer floats and ice cream!!! By the way, there’s a Wii there too, if you wanted to wait while he bottled up your sodas. You could also buy soda from the fridge… I also liked how you could pick the color of your soda and whether or not you wanted to take out or add preservatives, sugar or splenda in your soda. Just awesome.

Didn’t really like any of the sodas I had… root beer or orange cream. I didn’t realize that they just used droppers of flavor, soda water, syrup and food coloring to make their 50+ flavors of sodas. I ordered both sodas in the large size(about $ 2.80 each) and wished I had ordered small instead. The sodas also came out tasting a little on the diet side… not sure what kind of sweetener was used, but I just didn’t like it. The place is okay… I wouldn’t come here without children though… it’s very geared towards families… Wii game console, board games, colorful mural on wall, and a place for kids to draw/color on a chalk board near the back of the restaurant. Panini’s took longer than I expected too… tasty, but not motivating enough for me to return. If only the sodas tasted better. Similar to other reviews, SSS does have an array of candies, ice cream and other sugary pleasures, however, the name«soda shop» mislead me to believe they’d have the best sodas around.

This was a fun place. I just wish the had a sampler of some sort. I wanted to try a few flavor so I had t buy a $ 12 six pack to do so. It would be fun if the had a flight like wineries and breweries have. That is my only suggestion. I took my two kids there yesterday and it we all had fun. We tasted each others choices and so far coconut is my favorite. They also do floats, ice cream, candy and have small menu for lunch and dinner. We will be going back soon.

Very unique. I would give it 3.5 stars, but 4 stars would be more appropriate than 3 since we can’t do half stars. The butter beer and watermelon sodas were pretty good. The watermelon may have been a tad too much on the sweet side. We also tried a shake and malt. Nothing over the top, but they were solid. This appears to be a popular teenager hangout for the area and has a draw of board games and a Wii that the kids can play while hanging out.

What a fun place! We were in the Springs for a spring break staycation and looking for a place to take the kids for a casual bite. The owner was great – walked us through the extensive soda menu and made the sodas just the way we wanted them. The kids had a great time drinking soda, playing Wii and relaxing. Wish it was closer, but we definitely plan a visit next time we’re down in the Springs.

Go for the Butterbeer, stay for a sandwich. Hopefully a grilled cheese sandwich. If I lived in Colorado Springs I would go to this place all the time. I am allergic to Aspartame, and it excited me to no end that you could pick your own sweetener, and that it could be Splenda! I had a hot butterbeer, and it was so amazing. Exactly like what I have always imagined while reading the Harry Potter books.

I had never been to a «Soda Shop» before until I found this place on Groupon in early spring. The location is horrendous – it’s impossible to find unless you’re intimately familiar with the Rockrimmon area. But if you can actually find it, you’ll feel like a kid in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. This little soda shop has over seventy flavors of syrup and you can create just about any customized drink you want. Want a Green Apple ice cream soda, with Butter Pecan ice cream? You got it. Nice tall glass of Buttered Popcorn soda? You can have that too. Yes, I know, it’s a novelty and nobody really wants soda that tastes like, say, Fresh Cut Grass, but still… I bring my kids here and they have a great time, but I think I just use them as an excuse – I’m the one that really wants to go here. It’s like the little shop I used to dream of when I was a kid but didn’t really exist. They have jars full of candy that you can buy in bulk, ice cream, popcorn, sandwiches, and more. And the artwork on the wall is amazing… brings back a lot of memories of being a child and having a wild imagination. There are plenty of seats, and there’s a Nintendo for public use near the door. My kids aren’t old enough to use the Wii, so we usually try to play any one of the board games. …which brings me to my only real compliant about Squeaks – all the games are broken. I know that happens with board games, but it’s frustrating to find a board game that you and your three small children can play, only to open it up and realize that it’s missing crucial pieces. It can really kill the excitement, especially if – as happened to me last time – the first *three* games were broken. Fourth try was the charm, I guess. I’d rather see fewer games that have all their pieces than so many that don’t actually work. That aside, this is the neatest place to take kids I’ve ever found since becoming a parent.

Ambiance: Brightly colored, candy-themed soda fountain. Lots of candy for sale along the wall. A Wi is available to play. About six tables to sit at indoors, and another six outside. This is a place to bring the kids(I was the only child-less patron during my visit), so get ready for lots of kids running around and a very high noise level. Order at counter and wait for your order(no wait service at tables). Service: Chirpy and upbeat. I did have a 15 minute wait for my order, though no other orders were ahead of me. Food: Besides the candy, they also have popcorn and pretzels. The big deal here are there sodas(over 60 flavors to choose from). Either get the Italian-inspired soda, or as a shake or float. You have about a dozen ice cream flavors to choose from. I ordered a Float with the Coconut Ice Cream and chose the Cinnamon flavor to be added. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. I knew I was at a kid-oriented place, when the countergirl asked what«color» I wanted in my soda(I settled for no color). I was impressed with their sandwich selections. Besides catering to the youth clientele, there were several adult-oriented options. I chose a turkey and bacon pannini with swiss and dijon that was better than average. Also, besides the standard grilled cheese, there are several more gourmet options with different types of cheeses and breads. Overall, a fun little place for kids or people with kids. Otherwise, a pretty good sandwich place with just«ok» fountain options.

Check out their site for all they offer — handmade sodas, homemade icecream, floats, shaved ice(coming soon), old-fashioned candy(Alexander the Grapes, anyone?)…great place all around. Wii w/an HDTV setup for everyone to play; only 2 controllers, but bring another 2 from home and you can play their games w/4 people. The atmosphere is perfect for that. My buddy and I stopped in about 10 minutes to closing, and the owner was awesome. He gave us the tour of what he had to offer, we chose our flavor(3 ice cream flavors and 2 sodas btw us), and everything was delicious. He then proceeded to ask us to be his taste testers for some new ideas he was working out. So we tried some shaved ice, and his homemade recipes are going to be incredible when he adds it to the menu. I won’t blow the surprise, but let’s just say that shaved ice + ice cream = tastebud heaven. 30 mins after closing we left completely satisfied and on a sugar high… There are not enough places like this in the Springs!

Oh. My. Goodness. It was 97 degrees today and I was in the need of a cool treat. I perused Unilocal and found Squeak. Squeak’s delivered. I don’t want to be redundant and echo all the other reviews, so I will just say this place met the expectations you would have for it after reading all the 5 star reviews. The flavors are awesome, the service is awesome, my float was awesome, fencing and doing archery on the Wii was awesome. I find myself invigorated after being thrust into a world of delicious possibilities. I made my own float concoction: maple cream soda with vanilla ice cream. YUM. The maple soda itself was surprisingly light, paired with vanilla ice cream it was delectable. My boyfriend had a float with blueberry cheesecake ice cream and graham cracker soda. Also incredibly good. Free wi-fi with purchase, .75 cent popcorn, a candy wall… heaven.

My first impression was, «Definitely hitting my sweet tooth.» One of the coolest hidden places in Colorado Springs! Soda pop… cotton candy… floats… ice cream… candy grab bags… snow cones… flavored milks… and even a collection of board games and of course, the wii! If you want to feel like a kid again, or if you know a kid and want to take them in for the most massive treat, this is the place. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted with the friendliest crew of soda pop makers, and you won’t even know where to begin! Make your own concoction, and choose two soda flavors from the many choices. You can try the favorites like strawberry and lime or make and mix it with an original like green tea, anjou pear, and chocahula chip. 60FLAVORS to choose from! Or take home a old fashioned pre-packed bottle! This place is seriously one in a million, why didn’t anyone ever think of this before? Everything and anything sweet all in one place. You can even customize the labels for your customized sodas to give as gifts. To contrast all those sweets they have a good selection of paninis, pretzels, and popcorn as well. The lasting impression? «Every sweets enthusiast should check it out, no matter how old!»

Love Love Love it! Seriously. It made me feel like a kid again. What I ordered: handmade in store cotton candy. This was AMAZING and I am a self proclaimed cotton candy connoisseur. Seriously though, I worked at the State Fair of Texas. I have street cred here. I would definitely go back just for this item. Peach Fuzz soda(small). I really liked this flavor of soda. It wasn’t too sweet which the marshmallow flavor really was for me(tried it my first visit). Peppermint Ice Cream: my friend claims the expertise on ice cream, and she declared this ice cream delicious. They use gelato equipment to make it, but its creamy like ice cream.(yeah, i asked) and to top it all off: a caramel covered apple sucker. I haven’t had one of these since my third grade teacher had to bribe me to run laps in P.E. Nostalgia on a stick… I’m in love. If you go, you’ll probably see me attempting to study/write my thesis in the corner while devouring sugar in all of its forms. Sit down, say hi… distract me for a while… I’ll appreciate it.

As east-siders, we made a special trip over to Squeak after reading about it in the Indy, and weren’t disappointed. From the retro candy(yum!) — to the soda fountain options(I had a purple birch beer while hubby had a red lemonaid) — to the kids Wii bowling up front — the whole place just has a fun and lighthearted vibe that brings a smile to your face. We’ll be back.
