I have seen several shows at the Mezzanine. I saw a live music experience and most recently a musical. I love the simplicity of this black box theater. The space is flexible to whatever event they are having. This is a place for people who love the talent and are not needing to be dazzled by an elaborate set or props. I think the beauty is that the simplicity allows you to focus on the raw talent which is amazing. Many of the performers are currently in the Colorado Conservatory or alumni.(The night I went for the music it was an alum who had been in multiple large name musical productions on Broadway.) They have several options for tickets. You can buy a season pass which allows you to come to as many shows during the season as you like to see, or you can pay for tickets individually. Be forewarned that some of the more well known events do sell out, so plan ahead if you are dying to see something. I found the individual ticket price to be very reasonable.(I have never paid as little as $ 20 for a musical.) They have a drink menu that has some really unique cocktails. There are some hors d’ouvres on the menu, but if you are looking for a heavy dinner, you might eat somewhere in the vicinity before or after the show. I like that they start their shows earlier than traditional theater. The traditional 8 o’clock start time at other theaters makes for a late evening. It is nice to have energy for dessert or coffee after attending a Mezzanine event. They also have some really unique offerings as they are not trying to cater to the masses that they would need to fill a house like the Pikes Peak Center. All in all — its a great place to take in a nice night of theatre.

Excellent night at the Mezzanine! I came to see the Fantasticks, a show I am very familiar with. I was very impressed with the level of talent and the overall experience! This was my first time at the Mezzanine. The Mezzanine is more of a black box theater, so shows here aren’t typically going to have elaborate sets.(Which is why The Fantasticks was a great show to see.) Seating is regular tables and high bar tables. For our show the seating was assigned, which was nice. I imagine for jazz nights, etc. this may not be the case. We were seated at one of the high tables, which were surprisingly very comfortable. The chairs had backs and I was comfortable throughout the entire show.(This is a big deal for me because I have a bad back.) I don’t have a subscription, but I found the $ 20 ticket price to be quite reasonable for the experience. If you are going to one of the more formal shows with assigned seating and are wanting to eat and drink I recommend getting there a little earlier. I had no issues ordering my drinks, but with a musical going on the servers do their best to be unobtrusive. I ordered the Malbec, which they happened to be out of. I said to just substitute something comparable, and I was very happy with what they brought. I wish I would have asked what it was because it was very good. The pour was generous and served in a nice glass. They have an AMAZING Unilocal check in offer right now where you can get a free glass of wine or beer the first time you check in. I look forward to seeing other types of shows here. The acoustics were great and it was such a warm welcoming place to enjoy a glass and watch some talent. The Springs was definitely needing a place like the Mezzanine!

Hackneyed amateurs playing around as make-believe hipster artist elitists. The genuinely bizarre, unprofessional waitress and bartender do their level best to avoid serving you or even acknowledging your existence. One hour and twenty minutes after arriving, with three separate attempts to independently order at the chaotic bar, our drinks arrive. I ordered the $ 10 Blood & Sand Cocktail that came warm in a martini glass and tasted horrendous. The supposed wandering emcee was this utterly talentless, Texas guitar player who fancied himself one of those poseur madrigal cowboys, whilst the perfectly charming, scantily dressed, 65 year old, eight foot tall Amazon woman/Vegas Show-Girl throw-back and her well-intentioned, erstwhile childrens’ magician-husband, lamely torture the audience. This freaky, surreal disaster incessantly drones on while two highly accomplished accordion veterans at least add brief moments of genuine talent, and turn out to be the best part of the otherwise horrifically painful, alleged«vaudeville review.» Picture a small warehouse space painted entirely black, a handful of groupthink sextegenarians, woefully incompetent management divas willfully ignoring poor treatment of the clientele, and a 6’x 6′ projector screen, upon which they debut obscure 1960s drug-culture horror flicks. You can’t make this crap up. It’s stupid, the staff are rude and incapable of taking care of their patrons, and there is a strong whiff of self-absorbed, artsy-fartsy arrogance in every claustrophobic corner of this pathetic, Pseudo-Manhattan, hip bar wannabe. Sheer idiocy. Don’t waste your time.

Don’t bother going. Sat on barstools to see show. Very limited seating in regular seats Miserable experience Located on second floor. Overcrowded for room size and firetrap. No windows. One. Exit out down long flight of stairs.

Not sure what this place is intended to be. Sleazy bar? Performing arts theater? An extension of the Mansion? At any rate, it fails as a theater, so it must be a sleazy extension of the Mansion. Too bad. It would have been nice to have another classy performing arts center in Colorado Springs. This is just a weird venue where people who actually appreciate theater would not feel comfortable. The owner should stick with what he/she knows: hook-up bars.
