Just spent two nights here with the family and it was wonderful! The parlor is a lovely place to relax and play games, and the deck is perfect for morning coffee and people watching. We loved the décor and immersive atmosphere and being able to just walk downstairs to enjoy the town. The staff was very friendly and informative. The only reason I am giving 4 and not 5 stars is because the beds were super uncomfortable as were the pillows.

We stayed at the City Hotel at the end of June, so it was hot! But the modern aircon(ceiling mount) kept everything cool and comfortable. 5 stars for the staff and service; Cee Cee and everyone was so nice and accommodating and were dressed in wonderful period dresses and outfits. The room was lovely; beautiful headboards, and small WC with sink and toilet. Shower is down the hall, as things used to be; not a problem for us. There were two twins in our room, mattresses were not outstanding but we slept fine. Nice parlor stocked with games and couches. NOTE: if you’re going to arrive past closing, it’s really important you call the front desk before 5 – 6 to make arrangements. It’s a very small town so there’s not 24h desk service. Overall we had a great time and would def. come again.

We stayed in cottage 3, which was perfect. Great deal. My kids slept on the couch cushions in the living room and the staff wad happy to provide extra linens for this. Such a cute little cottage. The kitchen is well stocked and even has a toaster and coffee maker. The bed is really comfortable. The bathroom was adequate. The only thing I didn’t like, honestly, the tv. They mount a tv on the wall for use with dvds, if you bring your own. I frankly feel like you come somewhere like this to escape technology, and aesthetically the tv ruins the illusion of old fashioned living.

We loved our room and private balcony overlooking Main Street. This is the place to stay if you are looking for a authentic historic experience or a romantic getaway. The hotel common areas and rooms are furnished in beautiful period antiques. Yes the shower is down the hall, but that’s how old hotels were! You do have your own private half bath and nice fluffy robes are provided. There is no TV, so do what grandma and grandpa did– bring cards, books and other things to enjoy together. Beds are comfy and the AC works great, the AC is installed high in the ceiling where it doesn’t ruin the ambiance of this wonderful hotel. The staff were all so nice and they bent over backward to make sure we were happy. The newly reopened restaurant downstairs serves good food with friendly service. I can’t wait to go back!
