Nonnah’s is a dessert and coffee bar. Originally, I balked at $ 22 dollars for a dessert, but it wasn’t just dessert. It was an experience. I enjoyed watching the preparation for the fire desserts and coffees. Our table also had the turtle cheesecake, which was a beautiful combination of cheese, chocolate, caramel, and nuts. Can you say yummy? If you’re in the area, Noonah’s is a place to check out after a scrumptious dinner in one of the area’s many yummy restaurants.

Popped in for dessert… Plenty of choices, I chose a slice of the red velvet cake and my husband got the carrot cake. I definitely had food envy when I saw his slice. The slices are huge, and very rich so in hindsight we could have shared. The red velvet cake was delicious and moist, I was expecting cream cheese icing but it was more like a buttercream. So slightly disappointed, but still very good! Carrot cake was a moist European style, filled with nuts, sultanas, and raisins. Cream cheese frosting with white chocolate flakes for added panache. So good. We each ate half a slice and enjoyed them at home the following day. Service was friendly and attentive. A little pricey, but I think it’s justified. Will definitely be back to try some of the beautiful coffees that were leaving the bar, we just found ourselves there too late in the evening to partake.

Great place with a new chef! New menu items makes this an excellent place for lunch or dinner. Friendly staff, locally sourced fresh menu items. Would definitely go back. Still a perfect place for dessert!

I need to update my view to reflect the improvement I saw since my experience just a month ago. It looks like some major changes have been made. There is a new name on the door. I’m not sure if that means new management, but whatever it is, it is working. This trip I enjoyed a celebratory lunch with a bottle of bubbly. I was impressed with the shrimp bisque so much that I ordered a second cup! Apparently Monday was free cookie day, so I appreciated the opportunity to sample their various kinds(sugar cookie, chocolate chip, and oatmeal raisin). All were delectable and a nice way to keep the kids happy. Dessert was good as always and service was friendly. Nonnah’s is definitely heading in the right direction.

Went for lunch today, my first visit. WOW, it was great. Excellent service. The shrimp and grits was outstanding. Tender shrimp with spicy sausage, house made bacon and yummy brandy cream sauce! My friend loved her scallops and risotto. They were perfectly cooked and the plate was beautiful. We were happy to get lunch sized portions but frankly dinner would be even better! Was able to meet the chef, just a perfect time and overall experience. I will return and recommend that you try it.

My husband and 12 year old twins went Friday night at 6. We ordered chocolate cake, lemon pound cake, and bread pudding. More than enough for 4 people. All the food was fresh and perfect. 6 was a great time to go with the family to miss the crowds.

Incredible! Nonnah’s has a new executive chef and holy moly the food is to die for! We ordered the tasting menu which consists of 5 courses of whatever the chef thinks will be amazing and he personally brings each dish to you to describe it and chat. He ended up giving us 7 courses and they were all insane. I can’t say enough great things about this place, they have always been my go-to spot for dessert and now they are my go-to spot for brunch, dinner, and dessert I might as well move in.

Went to a special Unilocal event here and it was wonderful. The desserts are incredible! I look forward to coming back when the new chef had started!

We came expecting amazing deserts and coffee. Our waiter didn’t even know what was on the menu. We ordered coffee and a whit chocolate ginger cheesecake to go. I know delicious right. Wrong. It was like eating a block of butter and cream cheese. Not in the least good. At 8.95 for a slice I would have expected better.

As I am still currently sitting at my table I decided to write my first ever review. We decided to venture into Nonnah’s for brunch before heading out of town. To be honest it looked cute, there were people present inside and I love little spots like this. Just don’t bother. The service was slow at best, the staff seemed completely uninterested in the tables let alone communication with the patrons. I asked for my eggs to be egg whites and she stared at me like I was crazy. Egg whites. Just don’t use the yolks. Same process otherwise. Anyway, we received our mimosas and then waited. And waited. And waited. I had to stop her to ask for water. And then we waited some more. The food came out, one order of French toast missing syrup and the side of bacon and one order of corned beef hash. The bacon when we got it was burnt, two pieces of French toast burnt, potatoes burnt on the outside almost raw on the inside and way too much oil used. Once we had the food we never received a refill and only once did she even acknowledge us. When trying to pay the bill wasn’t ready and took another 10 minutes. All and all the food was decent, service sucked, and since I am probably moving to Columbia in the next several months, I won’t be returning. Too many other options in the vista.

This is an adorable popular spot for desserts and coffee. It was packed at 11pm! We had the apple pie which was amazing! I am dying to try the red velvet cake. Their cakes are huge expect to share or bring them home!!! Recommended!

Had an office lunch there last week. Service was horrible, coffee cold and meal below average. Deserts were good, but my last time there.

This place is overall a great concept; come in for a slice of cake and maybe a latte. However, when I went last Friday night it took us 45 minutes to get a few slices of cake when we only ordered a water beforehand. I got the carrot cake, which was great, but I’m not gonna lie, I have had better icing(Bonbonerie in Cincinnati). Some of my family got the red velvet, and chocolate cakes. They were both great, however not sure if they were worth almost $ 10 a slice and the 45 minute wait…

I think Nonnah’s finally figured out that the college-kids-on-a-first-date demographic isn’t exactly the most discerning, and just went ahead and threw in the towel. The quality has PLUMMETED since their move across the street. Cakes that are past stale are regularly served without a second thought. And the core menu hasn’t changed in 15 years. What used to be a semi-respectable wine list is now a dumping ground for Aleph(the only distributor they buy from), with several closeout items dotting the list. This used to be a fun spot, but they’ve stopped trying. Columbia diners thrive on mediocrity, so Nonnah’s won’t be closing anytime soon; but you can cave to your sweet tooth in more satisfying ways.

This is my favorite dessert place in Columbia. Whenever I have guests in town we will always go to Nonnah’s just for dessert. They have great coffees which can be prepared in front of you. It’s kind of cool seeing everything they put in their drinks and put on a little show for you by setting some of their drinks on fire. They have a different coconut cake that changes and I have always been very satisfied. The coconut cake special is always my go to.

The desserts were great. Tried to go across the street bit too many people so we came here to their new bigger location. Had the salted caramel cake which was awesome. Just the right amount of salty and sweet. He bartender was fun to sit with and gave good recommendations. If you are looking for a place to have a great dessert, this is the place to go!

Nonnah’s moved its location to a newer, larger location just a couple blocks away from its old location. The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner with separate menus for each meal but it is really know for its desserts. They have a variety of cakes, cheesecakes, and pies on display as soon as you enter the restaurant so it catches your attention right off the bat. I have never dined here for lunch but have had dinner multiple times which is good but this review will be focused on its specialty: desserts. Each one of its desserts is about 8 to 9 dollars that has a wide variety of styles and flavors. The restaurant has its own dessert menu that has its own full page with about 20 different choices. I am a chocolate lover so I always order a chocolate flavored dessert when I come here. I have had the chocolate temptation, chocolate raspberry fantasy, and chocolate chocolate cake which is my favorite since its pure chocolate with ganache. All of their cakes are delicious and sliced large enough for 2 people to easily share. There has only been 1 instance where I was disappointed in the quality of the dessert but every other time it has delighted my taste buds and satisfied my sweet tooth!

Nonnah’s gets a solid 4 stars. It is a delicious dessert spot that is great, especially for a late night sweet craving after a nice dinner downtown. Very unique. Had to take off one-star due to the street only parking situation with no valet. I would highly recommend this restaurant for dessert. It is great for groups or a romantic evening out.

Since they moved Nonnah’s is larger and more enjoyable. The coffee there is spectacularly good and you can even order your own single serve french press! A lot of reviews complain about the price but the servings are usually quite large — one piece is usually plenty for two. This is a post dinner date night dessert place and I go fairly often. Only once was I not completely satisfied by the dessert, A side note, the waiting staff for some reason always seems to be a bit shy or awkward. Not in a bad way, just a noticeable one. It might just be me… UPDATE2⁄6 I came here the other day because Kaminsky’s was PACKED. Both the host and the waiter did a poor job of explaining the special but we ordered it anyway. Nonnah’s now serves alcoholic ice cream cake — we got a sampler of 1 coconut and 1 mocha. They were pretty good even though it was freezing cold outside! Coffee is still delicious.

Dined here on Saturday with six other friends. My husband and I split the turtle cheesecake that was so so good. The cheesecake was divine. I liked that they served wine too. We watched them make the bananas foster which was really cool and smelled great. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the goodies! The ambiance is really cozy, low lighting makes it really romantic. Nice place to end the night after a great meal.
