Had a lot of great gear and anything you would need for any outdoor adventure! Friendly staff. Brandon was very helpful and answered all of our questions. We’ll be back for some gear!

I work kind of across the street from The Backpacker, so I stop in frequently, but I don’t know why because every single time(Every. Single. Time.) I do the employees will all be grouped up together at the register talking and they’ll stop just long enough to look at me then turn back to each other and resume their discussion. No «Hi. How are ya?». No «Anything I can help you find?». Nothing. I don’t know if they’re assessing me or judging me and determine that I’m not worth the effort, or what. And I can’t imagine why because I never walk out of there with less than a 3-digit sale. Well, that’s not true. The trip before last I was needing some new hiking boots in a hurry and, after spending 25 minutes standing there at the boot wall(I knew exactly what I wanted before I even walked in) without any sort of acknowledgement I went over to the counter and waited 5 more minutes for a break in their conversation to ask for assistance. They weren’t interested so I went to Mast General and gave them my $ 489(I got a few items other than just boots). Now with Mast in place, I shouldn’t have to bother with the very poor customer service at The Backpacker(not to mention Half-Moon Outfitters re-opened in their new location, and Sportsman’s Warehouse is just up the road to fill in any gaps). If they don’t address this issue, others will soon follow suit.

As described below, The Backpacker is an outdoor clothing and accessory store. They have several racks of winter jackets and a knowledgeable staff who are willing to help recommend products to first time users. They’ve had 10% off coupons in a the USC coupon book the past year, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check those if you’re a student. I saved 20 bucks on a jacket that never seems to go on sale in my size.

Love this place. They have great outdoor clothing, etc. for men and women, and I must say the women’s clothing is some of the cutest anywhere. Make sure you check the sale racks when you go because you never know what great deals you’ll find. I found a pair of $ 65 shorts for $ 15. We used our Groupon for a big savings when buying a new pair of Mountain Khakis and a kicking Keen over the shoulder bag, which Tracie just loves(and could sleep in). This store is much larger than the store in Mt. Pleasant. They have more climbing equipment and a good variety of just about everything you would need for an adventurous day out and about.
