Called on a Saturday to schedule an appointment with Brooklyn after another salon that I had made an appointment with on Friday didn’t have the proper dye on Saturday. Spoke with Brooklyn directly about getting purple highlights, made appointment for Monday. On Monday Brooklyn was sick. Rescheduled for Thursday. On Thursday, went there and she didn’t have dye for purple highlights. Tried to blame it on the front desk by saying they didn’t copy my request down when I’d spoken directly to her on Monday in the first place. I was rightly upset and left in a huff after she suggested I «come back on Saturday.» I had a backup appointment on Friday but mysteriously on Friday that stylist there was sick, too. I suspect there was something going on there. I found a stylist that did a great job at the last minute. I will never, ever recommend this place to my friends. An unfortunate update: I posted a copy of this review to facebook. Marc Salon not only posted my personal information, but I began to get harassing messages from a woman on facebook(who had also added some of my professors!) about removing the review to both my personal and professional facebook account. This woman had liked several things on «The Marc’s» facebook page. I asked her to stop, she would not. I called police and spoke with an officer about filing a complaint. At the officer’s suggestion, I’ve blocked the offender on both accounts. She also deactivated her account. I hope this sort of unprofessional behavior stops. EDIT: As a second update, I am now the victim of extortion. Text below. It’s essentially a threat to remove the review or forward slanderous material to my Departmental Chair.(I am a PhD student at Mizzou.) Note the your/you’re error–«The Marc» has a habit of making the same error on their facebook page. Not definitive proof, but suspicious. «As a member of the community of Columbia Missouri and a PHD candidate at the University of Missouri, I’m sure you are aware of the university’s social media policy. I quote „be transparent and using you’re real name and title, keep in mind that what you say officially represents the university.“ I am disappointed that you are abusing social media to falsely attack local businesses. Including the fraudulent names of [online usernames.] I politely ask you delete these false fraudulent and mean spirited posts immediately. Any further social media or review attacks on local business will result in a complaint to your department chair, including this message and screenshots of the posts and reviews discussed. Thank you for your time and understanding of this difficult matter. I wish you the best on your academic journey. Regards From : This is a one way, anonymous message. I’m new(ish) to town and hadn’t found quite the right place for me yet. One day I was walking toward room 38 with my shaggy hair and was surprised to see the Aveda salon right next door, which I had never noticed. So I decided to try to walk in and take care of my hair(it needed a clean up so badly) instead of going to happy hour. Brooklyn had a cancellation that day and was able to take me. I am so glad. She is the most gentle stylist I’ve ever met. Seriously. Hair doesn’t get down my back, and when she washes my hair and puts a towel on it, the way she tucks it in is so comfortable and gentle. The haircut lasted way longer than a short haircut should because she is very educated and pays attention to detail. I’m super grateful. So… Go say hey to Brooklyn! Love this place.

I got my haircut here and I love it! They were able to fit me in last minute on Saturday. I saw Brooklyn; she was very nice and definitely knows what she’s doing! I will be returning here next time I need my hair done! I was nervous about going to a new salon but my experience was great! Very reasonably priced too.

This was hands down the best experience I’ve had in a Missouri hair salon. I moved to Missouri from Los Angeles and had gotten pretty spoiled with high end salons on the west coast. After a horrible experience at another salon, I was left with major bleach damage and uneven locks. I called on a Saturday and they not only got me in immediately, but put me with a stylist named Brooklyn who was absolutely phenomenal. She not only listened to EVERY detail of what happened to me, but I brought in three separate photos of what I thought were good options to change my hairstyle. The previous damage left me little choice but to chop my hair short, and she made me feel so comfortable I didn’t even freak out when we cut over 8 inches off. I felt like we had been friends for years, and I left feeling pretty and confident for the first time in MONTHS after countless attempts to correct the messy mop on my head. I have since recommended Brooklyn and The Marc to all of my coworkers and friends and cannot wait for my next appointment. I would absolutely suggest them to anyone in columbia for a reasonable price and a high end experience!
