This morning I wanted some grits for breakfast so I stopped by here to get some. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a woman who was cleaning. I asked if they had turkey or chicken sausage. She said no. I told her that I wanted grits with eggs. I need the eggs scrambled well. She asked if I wanted cheese in my grits. I told her no, but I do want some in my eggs. This man came from the back and she told him what I wanted. He came to the register and repeated my order and asked if that’s correct. I nodded my head and said, «yes». Apparently, he didn’t hear me so he nods his head in a mocking way and asked, «are you sure» you’re nodding like.. .” I nodded my head again and said, «I said yes». He holds his left hand up and points his finger at me and says, «well, how about this, no thank you I don’t want your money.» I responded with, «no thank you too, I can eat elsewhere, I don’t NEED to eat here» and I turned and walked away. He yells, at me, «F*CKOFF» and then says, «Now, watch this.» and then says to the guy waiting in line behind me, «Hi how are you today, what can I help you with?» I told him, «a lot of my colleagues eat here, I will be sure to tell them how you treated me when I came in.» He points his finger at me and again yells«F*CKOFF.» I told him that he was very rude and I told him that he is an A-hole. A person with a temper like that has no business working with the public if he goes batsh*t crazy because of a simple misunderstanding.

I enjoyed the lunch special of baked spaghetti with salad, garlic bread and tea. Employees were pleasant and professional. The food is very good and comes out fast and HOT. Tea glasses were kept full and we were sent on our way with«to go» cups. Restaurant seemed popular with the lunch crowd. I enjoyed lunch here and would certainly eat here again.

You would never find Tony’s unless you were looking for it. Open for lunch, they’re a lovely little den away from the hustle and bustle of the downtown work day. Just off main street and beside a city garage, down a few stairs and in a windowless room, they’re worth venturing out for if you want an intimate homey setting with tasty Italian standards. Their baked spaghetti makes me feel like I’m at my grandmother’s kitchen. It’s hot and tasty. Their salad is simple, chopped, and delicious. I’ve also had a focaccia sammich from there that was lip licking good. For around 10 bucks you’re full and happy, and you’ll have gotten to talk to lovely waitstaff who’ve been a part of this family run business for ages. They have desserts and breakfast, too, so make them a part of your restaurant repertoire, or visit them if you’re staying in one of the lovely downtown hotels.

Incredible salads! Very tiny hole in the wall, but worth it.
