Tony’s Pizza Palace

The most generous gyros I have ever had. Ever. We had the gyro dinner + gyro for $ 20 and could not finish our meals. There was so much meat on the gyros, we put it on the salad and made a delicious gyro salad. I never even got to my gyro sandwich. Portions are large, for sure. I can’t claim it was the best gyro I’ve ever had, but it was the most generous portion. Our meals were to go, so I can’t comment on service (which is big for me). In terms of quantity, quality, and price, however, I’m impressed with my first visit to Tony’s and will be returning soon!

Our first time here. We are new to the dining scene in CoMO.
Tony’s was pretty much what I expected.
The Zeus was very good. I had a friend tell me to order extra meat, I will definitely do that next time.
The gyro was the best gyro I’ve ever had… I have had A LOT of them… schwarma (sp) was visible from the dining room. The meat is fresh and it has great flavor. The pita was fresh and the texture was perfect. The tatziki sauce was a bit bland but the gyro didn’t really need it. The gryo dinner is served with fries and a salad. The fries are skinny shoestring style potatoes. They were perfect. The salad had soooo much feta cheese on it that I saved the bowl and put the cheese out of the bottom on my fries.
We will be back!!!

There is no coming to Columbia without eating Tony’s pizza. They have the best greek gyro’s in town hands down. Give a gracious amount of meat, and the pizza’s are nice and thin crust! My kids love it! They are pretty convenient as they are right down town but I will say parking is a pain in the tail — you have to park in the back and walk around. Also the interior definitely could take some updating but hey– why fix something that ain’t broke!

On my list, Tony’s is the best place to grab a pizza in CoMo. I’ve only ever done carryout, but every time the pie has been perfect, and hot. You will continue to get my money!

Great pizza. Always make time to visit when we are in Columbia. Service is excellent and choice of toppings the best I have ever seen. Pricing is reasonable too. Recommend it highly. Best there is,

The food here is really good, but the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. We have made allowances for this but over our last couple of visits we have encountered such poor service we will no longer patronize this restaurant. We come in on Friday afternoons at lunch and our last visit we encountered such poor service we almost did not return. On that visit there was one empty booth which the waitress completely ignored, even though I stood beside it and she walked past several times as my partner went to the counter. It took forever for her to clean. On that visit they were busy, so why did it take someone to yell in the back room for another person to watch the register? Why were they not positioned there beforehand with strict instructions not to move? Then while we ate we never once were asked for refills or how we were doing, although the waitress did find the time to chat with friends who hugged her during this busy time. Why was she not focused on her job rather than idle chit chat?
This Friday we called in our order and mistakenly asked for pick up. When we came in we decided to eat in since they were not busy. The same waitress asked if we had called in our order since we were there often and we said we had. A minute later I went to the counter and asked whether they had it for here or to go. She was not sure so hollered in the back and they swore it was for here. We waited awhile more and the waitress then came over and asked what we had ordered. She then realized they had them bagged to go and they had been sitting on the counter since before we came in. The kitchen then proceeded to unbag our meal and she brought it out. The fries were ice cold and we did not even bother trying the gyros. We sent it back and after looking at each other decided we would never return. This was the last straw. We walked out, making sure the door did not hit our backsides on our exit!

Good pizza place, but the location could use a makeover. Menu has a few other options other than pizzas.

Much to love about this place! Recommended by a Greek woman I met at phone store earlier in the day. I asked for best gyro and she sent me immediately to Tony’s. Simple looking and easy to miss but impossible to forget now that I’ve eaten there. Very personable crew when we got there past the lunch rush. Got the gyro and my Marine son had pizza. Both were excellent.
Pizza had palatable char on a thinner crust comopliments of the vintage brick lined oven. Great assortment of meats and cheese.
Gyro had a huge amount of meat sliced fresh from the vertical spit, copious onions and authentic, yogurt based cucumber sauce. The pita was crispy on the outside, almost buttery, and delicious. Entire gyro was huge. I’m a big guy, but I boxed the fries to go.
Check hours of operation, though. Closed from 2−4pm. Orders after 1:30 are carry out only. Later in the day I found out my friend Jim used to get his favorite pizza at Tony’s while in college at Mizzou about 40 years ago.

Best «Greek» style pizza in town! Perfect cracker crust and good ingredients make for one of my favorite pizzas in town. The Gyros are great too in fact I don’t think there is a bad thing on the menu. Its kind of a dive in the restaurant but the staff is friendly and usually prompt (it can get slow if they are really busy.) They deliver too.

Underrated pizza place in downtown CoMo! Tony’s serves what would be best-​described as a Greek style pizza and they make them well. It’s just a couple of blocks off of the beaten path in an older brick building.
This isn’t part of any scene (a la Shakespeare’s), it’s just a neighborhood style place that’s been around for a while, laid back atmosphere — good place to grab a pie!
