Wingate Inn South Carolina

Wasn’t impressed; don’t see how his is a three star hotel. Booked through Hotwire. My TV was not even facing the bed, it was literally facing the door of the room, some of the light fixtures didn’t work. Housekeeping was so loud in the morning that I didn’t even want to stay any longer. Not pleased with this hotel.

It’s a solid 3-​star facility. Perfect location (near the mall and restaurants), close enough to downtown and the airport, and accommodations are what they advertise. Fresh fruit always available, free breakfast is basic but sanitary and well stocked, parking lot has had a huge pot hole for a year (they really need to fix it). Will continue to return to this hotel as long as rates stay below $ 100/​night ($ 80 during non-​peak).

Justin, a general manager, was very helpful in assisting me with setting up a stay for business. He was prompt and saw all my issues through.
The stay was enjoyable with the continental breakfast, fridge in room, and a mall across the street for shopping and food. The area over all did not have many sidewalks so not everywhere was walker friendly.

I’m only giving this hotel 2 stars because that’s exactly what it is. A 2 star hotel. I paid for a 3 star hotel but the amenities that are normally considered 3 star were not offered to us. The whirlpool was closed, the pool was closed, and the breakfast was wiped out at 9am when it’s supposed to last until 9:30. The only feature I had a chance to utilize was the free wi-​fi. Big deal.
When we first arrived to check-​in, there were about 5 employees behind the counter that were having a meeting in the office near the counter. They looked at us when we walked in but evidently they felt that their meeting was more important than helping the guests. So they let us stand there at the counter like idiots until they felt like there was an appropriate stopping point in their meeting.
Ridiculous.

I’ve stayed here a couple times while visiting family in Columbia. I believe the Wingate is a much better bargain than other hotels in the Irmo area, especially when booked through Priceline. The Wingate has plenty of parking, free WiFi, a bountiful breakfast, close to restaurants, shopping, movies, and the interstate, large rooms w/​refrigerators, desks, and ample power outlets. The staff is courteous and professional.

I’ve stayed here a few times and it’s a decent value. The rooms are clean but maid service is slow around the holidays. Breakfast includes hot items like waffles and eggs. The location is great! Walking distance to movie theater, sports bar, banks and shopping mall.

Decent hotel. Ask for Laura. She is great. The attention to detail by the staff there was appreciated. Had the suite room which is nice to invite folks up for after hours party.
