Took my wife and daughter for Sunday Brunch. Very disappointed with the food. Hopefully it was a bad day in the kitchen

Spit out food 3x’s at the brunch buffet. Spit. It. Out. Paid $ 47 for my boyfriend and me(plus tip). Spit out: Roast beef, sausage, white cheddar mashed potatoes. I suspect a lot of it was purchased with very little cooking. At least I hope so because otherwise the cooks there HAVE to b punking me and anyone else paying over $ 21/person(only water to drink). Our server was very attentive with an almost apologetic look in his eye. I will end with this: Guys, i spit. It. Out. $ 47(plus tip). Seriously, Guys! SPITITOUT! 3TIMES! 3DIFFERENTITEMS. Don’t do it.

When ever I come to Columbus for work I always meet my parents here. We always get incredible service and the food has always been great. The French onion soup is a must. We like to try different things and we continue to be impressed. The creamed spinach as a side is very good and is perfect to dunk the fresh bread in. I had the prime rib this evening and it was one of the best prime ribs I have ever had. The au jus was nice and salty so there is no need to salt the meat, it also came with a creamy horseradish which was also nice. My dad always has the Normandy chicken and loves it. My mom had the shrimp scampi and thought it was great. The stuffed mushrooms were awesome too!

Well it was quiet when we walked and it’s really nice place to take your time and look at the scenery and I love watching the air planes go by. I ordered a New York strip and it was sizzling and it was the delicious I only have one complaint which is the knifes wouldn’t cut through the steak that easy I had to put a lot of force into it other then that it was a good place to go.

The food was a major disappointment. The eggs, fish and meat were below standards, and were not worth the price paid. I went during brunch and will not return.

The location is pretty cool and the property itself has an interesting ambiance but the disrepair of the parking lot reflects pretty accurately the quality of the food. It’s muddy, full of potholes and you can see where it was nice at one time before ambivalence and time started the decline, so goes the food. Everything egg was awful, from the scrambled eggs with a brown, crunchy crust, to the made to order omelets with a brown, crunchy crust to the pre-made eggs Benedict with hard cooked eggs and grey, flavorless ham. The fried chicken, mostly wings, was cold and wasn’t battered but merely dredged in plain flour and deep fried. The fried potatoes also were cold, the mashed potatoes were real but dry and gluey. There were cooked oysters, served on half shell and cold on ice(cold cooked oysters??) and the shrimp was served in she’ll and required de-veining at the table. The dessert offerings were the frozen cheesecake you can buy at the grocery store; pre-made and frozen then thawed custard and an assortment of cakes. Only tried the chocolate cake and it was dry and meh. The final disappointment was that for 25 dollars a person, the carving table was offering nothing more than your local golden corral, roast beef and ham, no prime rib.

Nasty. I was probably biased to the whole dining experience when I walked in and saw the employee at the carving station digging in his teeth and rubbing his face. Food was sub par. I personally couldn’t eat much because I stayed far away from the carving station. Vegetables were too salty, rice was bland. Chicken was overdone. It’s too bad because this could be a really cool restaurant. Definitely won’t be back.

Disappointed to say the least. I will say we went later in the night, but when we called to schedule a reservation they said they took reservations till 9. That being said the money we spent was not at all worth it. The restaurant itself was dirty and there were cobwebs everywhere. I got the surf and turf and they didn’t let the filet sit before plating so there was blood all over my plate which subsequently leaked into my vegetables and baked potato. The vegetables were luke warm and my lobster was very very tough. My wife got the Normandy chicken which was supposed to be battered chicken over creamed spinach and cheese with white cheddar mashed potatoes. The potatoes were instant, and the«creamed spinach» was leftover spinach artichoke dip. Just disappointed overall.

I can’t believe I’ve never been to this Columbus institution before tonight. I’ve lived in Columbus for 42 years and I can’t believe it took me this long to come here. I I had the chicken Normandy and my man had the jumbo shrimp scampi. Both were wonderful I can’t believe somebody would come here and give them two stars people expect way too much in this day and age. The décor is a serious throwback to the WWII era but totally awesome. The music is great and definitely fits the era. I got a moscato and my man got a Columbus IPA. The shrimp scampi had to been colossal and he got 8 on his meal. I poured the extra sauce from the scampi on his leftover potato for work tomorrow. The chicken Normandy was wonderful. The crispiness was perfect and I only ate half of it and I’m full. So there’s plenty of leftovers to take to work tomorrow, even better

Coming«home» after being gone for 30 years, I was looking forward to my visit here. Picked hubby up from the airport and we booked over. It was 8:45pm and wasn’t aware they closed at 9:00pm. However, the Manager seated us without hesitation and put us at a table with the dirtiest window in the restaurant. You couldn’t even see out of it. We moved to a different table. The waiter was an extreme delight; he’s worked there forever and was just wonderful to talk to. We apologized for being so late and ordered drinks and appetizer platter and shrimp cocktail. Wine and drinks were good, but that appetizer platter — OOH! YUK! Shrimp cocktail was great. Crab(?) stuff clams with brown goop on top — could not eat. Calamari that obviously came out of a frozen bag as they were all EXACTLY the same size and breading like low-priced onion rings — YUK! Chicken was edible. Sorry to see they great place is a dump now and a Manager who seats you at the filthiest window in the place?! I think he’s in the wrong business. Loved, loved, loved the waiter. He was a nice man. Wondering how he does on tips because the place was pretty dirty and food pretty pathetic.

Still my favorite place to dine before we fly out of Columbus. Needs a little face lift with a redo of the old Memorabilia — keep it just relocate it around for a new look. Have always had a very pleasant experience there. Some people just want to rush to much for this place to have a good effect. Liked to listen to the flight tower in the old days.

This was my first time dining at this restaurant and I was pleasantly impressed! I saw that they had a Groupon and was eager to try it out. My 2 daughters(4&11) dined with my husband and I. The signage and even the building itself, is «blink and you’ll miss it» as the location sits back from the road(at the middle of a bend, no less!). There is plenty of parking in front and we loved the military vehicles and the plane, which are also out front. I adore the cottage-like atmosphere and historical elegance of the interior. The lighting was comfortable and beautifully accentuated the many antiques. My military history lovers(husband &11yr) were in heaven! We were fortunate to have a table next to the window over looking the runways. My daughter were delighted to watch the planes prepare to take off. The menu offered a well-rounded selection of entrees. My husband and kids had the prime rib(which smelled so delicous!) and I had the filet mignon. The meat was tender and cooked to perfection! Mine was rare and theirs were all medium. The sides were delicious with nothing over nor under cooked. Our food arrived much faster than we anticipated and was perfect temperature for eating. This is important to us as many places serve dishes that are too hot or cold. I appreciated the attentiveness of our server. He was there to assist us with the most cheery, upbeat, professional demeanor. As we left, my husband commented that he would love for us to come back for a romantic evening.

The place is dated, but that makes it unique with aircraft memorabilia. It is musty, like any old place. The only nice thing we can say about the food is the bread was good, and the French onion soup was hearty. Service was brusque, bordering on rude. The cook needs to learn that browning adds flavor — I had a chicken dish that was closer to something you would get at a school cafeteria with mushroom and leathery sun dried tomatoes added. The Ceasar salad was ok, some brown aging on the lettuce. Go to see the airplanes and memorabilia have a drink, but eat somewhere else.

Came here for mother’s day brunch. The restaurant location on the runway and history is really the appeal of the place. The food was unfortunately not worth the $ 30/person. It wasn’t bad, just mediocre. Can’t comment on the regular menu but don’t know if I’ll be back to try it! Service was good. Décor cute but a little run down.

Salmon dish was severely over cooked and was bone dry. Vegetables were cool when plate was delivered, making me question how long it was waiting before it was picked up. Dined with a large party, who had staggered food delivery. People had to wait approximately 10 minutes before the entire party had food delivered, and one order was forgotten entirely by our server. I’ve eaten here many times over the past 20+ years, but today’s experience convinced me to never return.

Decent food. Had the potato crusted chicken. I would get it again and I would recommend it because the price was right.

Well this was a disappointment. We went here with a large group of friends(about 14) for New Year’s Eve. Due to some miscommunication, we did not get our reservations for the NYE buffet and big band celebration, but for the main restaurant. We ordered an appetizer of fried calamari and what we received was sorely disappointing. For $ 11 we received rubbery, previously frozen calamari served on a plate with a paper doily. I was a bit confused how a restaurant that can charge so much wouldn’t have better plating. Also, they served spinach and artichoke dip(that was actually okay) for 11 — not something I expect to see from a really expensive restaurant. When I think spinach and artichoke dip, I think Applebee’s or something along those lines. Anyway, on to dinner. The husband ordered the prime rib dinner medium rare with mashed potatoes and veg. I ordered the grilled king salmon dinner also with mashed potatoes and veg. Now I get that we had a very large group, but the waitress did have us paired off in couples so she should have known what meal went with whom. But this is what we heard for about 10 minutes while she was serving food(yes it took almost 10 minutes to get each of us our meals) «Prime rib medium with mashed potatoes…» :Silence: «No medium prime rib with mashed potatoes? Oh wait I mean medium rare, they didn’t put tickets with these. Medium rare prime rib with mashed potatoes.» Somehow almost every steak that came out she first called out as medium — well no one in our group ordered anything medium(okay maybe one person, but still) then everything was corrected to medium rare when no one claimed it. I don’t know if that is bad service, lack of communication, or a ticket printer’s fault, but either way when my husband got his ‘medium rare’ prime rib, it was not medium rare. It was medium to medium well– which is what she called it out first before correcting herself to medium rare. He actually ended up sending it back to get a medium rare piece(he used to work in a steakhouse as a cook so he knows what it should be) — and we’re pretty sure they just took the old piece off of his plate and put a new one on — instead of giving him an all new plate. To top it off, the prime rib was pretty tasteless and not good. Sigh. My salmon thankfully was a little easier to get to me since only three of us ordered salmon. I really like to order salmon when I go out to nice places, I love salmon and it’s usually done some justice when it’s 26.99 on a menu. Sadly my salmon looked like I ordered it blackened, but in reality that’s just how charred it it got on the grill. It was so overcooked, dry, and chewy. I was really disappointed. The other salmon’s looked like they had been cooked better than mine had but my husband did notice on one of the other pieces the albumin was present in a surprising amount– so the place is definitely lacking in consistency. The mashed potatoes were fine, though I guess I expected my mind to be blown and it was not. They looked like an ice cream scoop had been used and had no creamy quality to them at all. The best part of the entire meal was the broccoli(which was the only fresh vegetable in the mix) which was really good. It was served with some zucchini which was either frozen or waaaaay over cooked and a slice of un-ripe warm tomato. The tomato confused me to no end. For an evening where we spent just a few dollars shy of $ 100, the meal did not stand up to those prices, it didn’t even sit up to those prices. By the end of it I was angry that we had paid so much money and were served such mediocre food, so we left and didn’t watch the big band with our group. While the inside was kind of cool and the memorabilia interesting, I would never, ever go back here. So 3 stars for the atmosphere and décor but 1 star for the food.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Columbus. The food is top notch. I had shrimp and scallop penne while my wife had the prime rib. Both were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is unique, but there is a lot of potential with regards to signage out front, parking lot lighting and the condition of the outdoor artifacts. I would recommend for larger groups or romantic dates.

This atmosphere of this place can best be described as «Grandpa’s basement», and I mean that in the best possible way. All of the history and antiques at this place is what makes it such a unique dining experience. My boyfriend surprised me with a date here and I was so pleased, I loved watching the planes take off while we ate. I had the tempura battered chicken that was quite tasty and our waiter was very friendly. The only negative thing is that the place is just kind of old and musty, I would like to see it tastefully updated and promoted towards younger people, it has a lot of potential
