They ladies that work here are so sweet, and the food is always great. Slightly pricey but still worth it.

I must’ve walked past this place a dozen times before stopping to check out their menu. I try not to eat terrible very often, but I was giving myself a break on this day. I went for the chili cheese dog, and it was amazing! The chili had the tiniest hint of sweetness to it– which was fine since they balanced it out with diced onion, yellow mustard, and of course, cheddar. The dog itself is all beef, and very clearly good quality. Dang, I want another one:( Oh! Warning: it’s super messy. Worth it though.

I’m a pretty big fan of Best of the Wurst, and if I somehow convince myself not to get HCT when I’m at the North Market, then I’ll usually grab a hot dog or brat from here. It’s actually one of the easier places to over look, since their signage doesn’t pop out, but it’s on the North side of the building right next to Lan Viet Market. The Pittsbull dog is my favorite with a slaw and a nice tangy BBQ sauce. It’s absolutely delicious. The Chicago dog is great as well and so are the brats. If you get there early, you can get a breakfast sandwich, but they don’t serve them all day. The one I had came on a croissant and was one of the better sandwiches I’d had in awhile. So why not 5 stars? Two reasons: 1. The service can be ridiculously slow and for what appears to be no reason. My friend ordered the grilled cheese with double smoked bacon(which was absolutely delicious by the way), and it took close to 15 minutes for them to make it. There was no one else in front of us, and it’s a grilled cheese! 2. This place is just flat out over priced. You’ll get a good dog, but it’s not nearly worth the $ 7 – 7.50 price tag. These aren’t oversized dogs, and you don’t get anything else with them. I can go to Daredevil and get bigger, and arguably better, hot dogs for less than that. A Po’ Boy at Loops, which is essentially the Pittsbull Dog, is just as good and twice as big for under $ 6. I remember the pricing here being a lot less in years past, but it looks like they shot up when they switched locations in the market and put up a new menu. Overall, expect to get some pretty good food here that may cost you a little more than you’d like. It takes me a couple dogs to fill up, and that’s costing me about $ 14. If you really want a dog that bad, there’s other places in town that can fulfill your needs.

Best of the Wurst is like every other stand in North Market where they take your order then you take it upstairs or outside to eat. I got the Reuben sandwich which was pretty good and basically had everything you expect in a Reuben sandwich, except maybe lacking a bit of meat but I’m not a huge meat eater anyways. I was a little confused since it’s listed as a Monday special but the exact same item is listed on their regular menu as well. The sandwich alone came out to be $ 10.50 which I think is a bit overpriced for just a sandwich but it is a big sandwich, big enough that I couldn’t finish it.

Excellent breakfast sandwich. We ordered the special which was egg, sausage, cheese with spinach, tomatoes and we added bacon on a croissant. OMG. To die for! Probably the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. Luckily for my health this place is located in Columbus and I’m over 600 miles away, otherwise I’ll be coming every day for breakfast. Best of the Wurst is now on the top of my «must go» places in Columbus whenever I visit.

I came to the North Market not realizing it was the NHL All-Star game(AND Ohio State’s National Championship celebration party which attracted ~46,000 to the Shoe) and the North Market was more crowded than I have ever seen… This place had the shortest line and the people I was with decided to eat here. I complained since I wasn’t in the mood for a sausage and I figured the short line must have meant something… I was wrong. The food was pretty good. I had a burger and everyone had a different panini. I took a bite of everyone’s because why not, and it was all good. A LITTLE pricey for the food, but it was what we wanted from the North Market: flavorful food with minimal wait so it was worth it. Maybe I’ll try it again but I have so many other North Market favorites…

Food was mediocre, nothing special. Unfortunately, the rude staff ruined the lunch for me. I was directly asked to leave a tip«for me and my friends» by the guy who took my order. I chose not to, as nobody else in the North Market asks for tips, because they aren’t waitstaff. I realized 15 minutes into eating my lunch that I lost my parking ticket I had him validate for me, so I went back to the counter to see if I forgot to pick it up. I asked, «Did I happen to leave my parking ticket here?» and he just said, «I don’t know, DID you?» without really stopping what he was doing. I asked again, and a fellow worker reached around to a spot RIGHTINFRONTOF this guy, picked up my ticket, and handed it to me. I don’t know if he was sore that I didn’t leave a tip, or just generally rude, but either way, I won’t be back.

I had what I think is the best thing I ever ate in my life today from this place. I had the Reuben Dog. Oh my! Every bite from beginning to end was pure heaven. The bun was soft and the bratwurst was cooked perfectly. I never imagined eating something so out of the ordinary and it tasting fantastic. My son got the Classic Reuben and he remarked about how big the sandwich was and how good it tasted. Big fans!!!

Saw a weisswurst special today at Best of the Wurst and immediately knew I had to order it as a sausage fan. It was a very good size weisswurst sausage on a pretzel bun topped with sauerkraut and mustard– the perfect sausage combo! The weisswurst itself was excellent with just the right balance of flavors and enough parsley to give it a distinct flavor without being overpowering. The sauerkraut on top was great as well and could’ve been a side dish all on its own. The pretzel bun was also perfect and could’ve been sold on its own and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat it. Topped with spicy brown deli mustard for $ 6, this was one of the better sausage sandwiches/hot dogs I’ve had. Not to mention the workers were friendly and you can watch them make the food fresh!

Not just great hot dogs, but also great sandwiches! I got a turkey panini and it was pretty darn tasty! It does take a while to make, but that’s because they gotta slice your meat and cheese before pressing it on the panini press. Yum! Another winner of North Market!

I had a bratwurst which was pretty tasty. The prices were not cheap but they were reasonable. The service was brief but good. I would good back there again about trying the many other options of north market first.

Crispy paninis the size of your head! No joke. Be careful w/the veggie portabella one though — the sauce is too much(your panini will be well on its way to soggy land before you’re able to sit down for the first bite!).

Best of the Wurst has the best quality dog in the city. Better than Dirty Frank’s albeit their topping choices don’t compare. They also have a variety of sandwiches made with Boar’s Head products.

Had a good roast beef and cheddar panini here for lunch. Large sandwich with a generous amount of meat and cheese. The sandwich comes with russian dressing which I should have had them leave off(way too sweet, didn’t fit the sandwich), but this was my mistake. Bread was nice and crispy. Great beverage selection.

As I said in my last review, the only thing I ‘d ever gotten here was their hot dogs. But today(after reading some other reviews) was the day to change that. So after studying the panini list I settled on the proscuitto with carmelized onions, cheese, and peppers. And it was a darned good sandwich. And a darned big one to boot!

I used to think Best of the Wurst was just awesome hot dogs. Turns out it’s not! You can also get some awesome paninis here! I was crazy happy with my turkey and cheese panini. I always forget how good the hot dogs are until I start eating another one though. Maybe the rotisserie throws me? At any rate, this is definitely one of my faves at North Market. And I kind of love that Nida from Nida’s Sushi is the one behind this awesome place.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to review Best of the Wurst seeing as it’s my go to place within the North Market. I’ll eat elsewhere, but inevitably I end up back under the blue neon of BotW. I’m not a huge fan of hotdogs although I have had the Reuben Dog here and it was quite good. I much prefer to go for the Salsalito Turkey panini and even given all the choices at the North Market I never find myself wishing I’d tried something else. They have a real panini maker so the outside is toasted perfectly and since they spray it with Pam instead of using butter you aren’t getting a load of extra calories. Inside they use Boarshead meat and cheese which makes a huge difference if you’re a deli-meat snob like me.(Weird thing to be proud of, I know, but I grew up in a deli.) They add a chipotle mayo and lettuce and tomato and the combination is filling but not too heavy. If you’re feeling really adventurous see if they’ll let you order a side of saurkraut and put it on once you get your food upstairs. It sounds disgusting I know, but I discovered the combination while I was pregnant and I’ve never gotten over it. Also, Best of the Wurst is one of the few places in the North Market where you can buy Mexican Coke(the kind made with sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup) so that’s pretty awesome too. The lids aren’t twist off so they can be a real bitch but totally worth it if you’re like me and prefer real sugar and a glass bottle.

The hot dogs at this North Market stand are big and beefy, and over the years have repeatedly won the honor of best hot dog in Columbus. On the actual dog, I have to agree. I always come away satisfied. However, the prominent rotating hot dog heater makes me feel like I’m picking up a hot dog from a gas station, rather than the tasty frank I end up with. I’ve also picked up an enormous panini or two, and normally have half left over for another meal. Nida from Nida’s Sushi runs this place. Sushi, pad Thai, hot dogs and paninis? Somehow she makes both places work. And props for the clever name.
