–Interesting little spot. Visited based on other Unilocal recommendations. Went with a large group –Décor was very hip. Think«diner meets trendy restaurant.» –Everything is natural, made in-house,. You can taste the difference between it and it’s processed, preservative-laden counterparts. –Food served hot –no waiting until everyone is served. This may irk some, but delighted me. I hate cold fries! –Fennel ketchup sucks; We’re not in LA/NY. Classic over-reach. Where’s the Heinz? The aioli, however, was tasty. –Creative food options; breakfast/lunch; everything’s good– you won’t be disappointed — even if you have no clue what you ate. From the troops: –Cuban was great-very big, filling –Thumbs up on breakfast quesadilla –Muther-clucker was good, but overcooked –Fajita needed more cheese, not very flavorful –Everyone else was busy enjoying their farm-fresh meals

It was a bad day on a busy Saturday around 11am. There was a big cheerleader convention, and they could not handle the demand. They were out of menu items and the wait and cook staff was just overwhelmed. Plus the place was really not clean. Unilocalers say this is a really great place, so I’ll give it another try. Being across from the Convention Center I would expect you would be more prepared.

Was excited to try this place out for brunch. Disappointing experience, though. Fries were tasty, but cold, as was my hot toddy(should be renamed a lukewarm toddy). Also said the toddy was made with chai, but came out with«breakfast blend» instead, which was fine, but not as advertised. A friend was not impressed with her breakfast quesadilla, nor her bloody mary, although the motherclucker was decent. Service was friendly but slow and somewhat disjointed. One friend had her plate taken away while she was still eating. Don’t think we’ll be coming back. Favorite thing about the meal: brioche bun and tomato fennel ketchup.

I have walked by Knead countless times, and boy, have I been missing out. We decided to go for happy hour last night, and although it was the first, it will most certainly not be the last time I go to happy hour there. $ 5 off several sandwiches, and ½ off starters. 2 can easily dine for less than $ 20. I tried bites of everybody’s food… the kale caesar salad was tasty, and the baked potato soup was smooth, creamy, and very good. While waiting for my Motherclucker to come out, I ate a few bites of hamburger. I don’t eat hamburgers unless the restaurant is known for them, but I can definitely vouch for this one. The meat they use(although not local) is amazing and tastes so fresh. The Motherclucker was ooey, gooey, and oh so good. I scooped their homemade ketchup into my mouth with the shoestring fries that were fried to perfection. Oh and the brussels sprouts, how can I forget? Sooooo delicious. I can’t come here again without ordering them! Everything was really good. The only thing I didn’t care for at all were the hashbrowns– I think they injected those babies with oil to make them extra greasy. Maybe that’s your thing, but I’ll steer clear. Don’t let that white toast fool you though, it’s homemade and I may have to order breakfast just to get a few pieces! Tasty food, a cozy atmosphere, and really good happy hour prices. Nothing to lose, here.

Interesting combo of ingredients lead to a satisfactory dining experience. You can tell this place isn’t afraid to mix up old standards with things like honey, fennel and other flavors. They’ll warn you their ketchup is not your typical red sugar blob.(Which I love, for the record). I had their signature chicken sandwich(I think it’s the mother clucker?!) and honestly wasn’t quuiiittteee as enthused as I thought. It was basically your standard chicken sandwich. None of the flavors really stood out to make it different to me. I think next time I’ll try the cuban pork sandwich. My lunchmate had it and I wanted to steal it. Ambiance is fun, also. We had the big booth in the middle to ourselves when we arrived early for lunch.

Stopped in for brunch yesterday, ordered the BBB sandwich. Holy Moly the sandwich was huge!!! But it was definitely satisfying. Between the perfectly baked biscuit was 2 scrambled eggs, perfectly seasoned pulled pork(amazing!), and asiago cheese. There was a slight kick to the sandwich that I couldn’t figure out, either way– it was delicious. If you order this, you better be hungry because it’s probably the biggest breakfast sandwich you’ve seen. The potato cake it was served with wasn’t great, I could have passed on that. It was a soft, mushy, grease pie of potatoes. My husband ordered the Motherclucker which did not disappoint. How can you go wrong with a fried chicken sandwich with bacon? We’re already planning our next visit. PS-our server told us we just missed the red velvet jinkies(twinkies), hopefully we’ll get to try it next time.

I popped into Knead hungry, tired and cold. I left full, warm and happy. So, mission accomplished! I noticed from the menu and my server that Knead seems to give extra love to locally sourced produce and scratch made goods. Like the homemade ketchup. Or the Gerber chicken. Or Amish cheese. I like all of these things. As for the décor — I was a little confused. Is it family focused? Hipster kitschy? Low key lunchy? It was more than fine but not unified throughout. As for my meal, the Tinga tacos were nicely put together. The slow roasted pork paired well with the tomato chipotle, slaw and white cheddar nestled in the flour tortilla. The two tacos and side were enough for a moderate sized lunch. I decided to sample the quinoa salad as well and that was a let down. While it was fresh, it was pretty flavorless and a bit of a snoozefest. I gotta say though, their fries and homemade ketchup are a match made in heaven. Knead fulfilled my lunch time needs and while I wasn’t bowled over, I would have no problem coming back and giving them another go.

I guess the big thing here is the fresh ingredients and what not. I really wasn’t impressed. The menu selection was small and you had to pay for sides such as fries. I got the Mother Clucker which was supposed to be their famous sandwich. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. The chicken wasn’t fried crunchy, but there were good flavors in each bite.

I have been holding out trying Knead because of mixed reviews, but when they offered a Groupon, I took the plunge. Kinda bummed I fall into the group of less-than-impressed customers. I love they are locally-focused, or at least state-focused. Their menu isn’t hugely extensive, but shows some creativity. Lots of things sounded good. I even mentally justified the prices of sideless sandwiches, happy they supported smaller business and were using better ingredients. The drink menu was great, with lots of local breweries represented. The modern-diner ambiance isn’t really quite up my alley, but I’m sure it’s a fit for someone else. But then our food came. I had ordered the Mother Clucker, the thing I heard they’re known for. Bf got the burger with bleu cheese and mushrooms. We each got a side of the $ 3 fries. My sandwich was underwhelming. The rolls were a bit too big so every bite was bready. They also tasted kind of dry, like maybe they had been sitting out all day. The sandwich itself was kind of bland except for the bacon, which was a bummer. The slight touch of honey was nice. I ended up asking for a side of garlic aioli and that helped a bit. Bf’s burger was cooked properly and I sneaked a bite. It was good, not necessarily what I would have ordered, but good. The thing I ended up filling up on? The fries. They were great. I still have a slight issue with places that will serve and sandwich without sides, so the $ 3 charge is a little annoying. But they were tasty. I was glad I had the Groupon, and I’m not sure if I’ll ever come back here for dinner. For the prices, taste and the prevalence of other establishments supporting local farmers and growers, your money could probably be spent somewhere else. Curious to try their brunch, so maybe this review will get an update in the future.

I had heard so many great things about this place, but was pretty disappointed by my experience. Our waitress was great and very chatty, so that part was good. My friend asked for milk for her coffee, and we were told that they were out of milk, because it was expired. You’re a restaurant that makes pastries– and you’re milk is bad? Gross. Then my other friend ordered blueberry pancakes, the only type of pancakes on the menu. Turns out that they are out of blueberries too. So sad. I had a breakfast sandwich– my biscuits were dry and the eggs were greasy. I asked for butter which was way too cold to spread. My stomach felt queasy the rest of the day… so sadly, I don’t plan to return.
