Did the ownership of Coco’s Grill change hands? Today(1⁄2016) I came here for the first time since last October, and the old lady and old man who I had always seen running the place were nowhere to be seen. When my wife ordered«ebi chili»(a Japanese-Chinese dish of fried shrimp served in a chili sauce), the man taking our order had no idea what we were talking about until we pointed it out on the menu, at which point he said it was OK. We also ordered garlic eggplant. When the food came out, as expected, the ebi chili was not anything resembling the picture they had on the wall: no sauce, just a dusting of salt and dried chili pepper. The garlic eggplant we had hope for because it’s more typical in Chinese restaurants in America, but it had changed too. It lost its flavor and any spiciness and turned bland. If anyone has any information about what the old couple who ran the place are doing, please send me a message. So sad to see their cooking go.

Still great. Bulgogi. Mmmm. Had a bite of my friend’s pad Thai and the sauce was perfectly tangy! I will definitely be investigating more of the authentic Chinese menu in the future, however.

I waited in line for about 3 – 4 minutes before ordering and only about 2 – 3 minutes for the food. It was so fast! However, the serving size is very small compared to other Asian food places. The rice didn’t taste very good and while the chicken was good, there was not much of it. The prices are pretty low but I’d rather pay the extra and get food elsewhere.

Perfect to satisfy your craving for Chinese. Decent food, big portions, not aware of another place in the grandview area that serves a tofu/vegetarian entrée for under 6 bucks!

Never miss a day with cocos. I love love love the food in here… My favorites are Honey chicken, sesame chicken, hot and spicy chicken, fish fillet black bean sauce, and ebi chilli. The best Chinese restaurant in town!

Very good fast food Chinese place with rather traditional Chinese dishes for Columbus, just need to order off the special menu I always get the eggplant dish with pork when I go, it’s sweet and sour and very delicious

As with any dining experience it’s all about your expectations. This place excels at reliable and consistent cheap carryout Asian cuisine. They feature Chinese dishes with what seems to be a slight Japanese and perhaps even Thai influence. The spicy chicken is delicious, albeit by no means a mouth burner. Their crab Rangoon has only disappointed on one visit in the more than 2 dozen times we’ve come here for food. The prices are very affordable — feeding two on $ 15 is well within reason. The staff is courteous and their kitchen crew gets orders out the door; I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes from the time I ordered. This isn’t a fine dining Chinese restaurant but who would expect that? It’s nestled next to a matress shop and a Jimmy Johns. My only wish is that they delivered!

The honey crisp shrimp was amazing! Never would have ordered that without my fellow Unilocalers recommendation. Spot on yet again you beautiful people!(full disclosure: I ordered that for my wife in case it was bad, and then ate half of it). It’s sad but I feel like I totally missed on this place until recently. Give it a shot, realize that you will be tempted to turn left into Jimmy John’s and don’t(seriously though, that entrance is wierd), go to the right and enjoy some seriously good food!

This place is one of the best Chinese restaurant in Columbus OH. All the dishes are made by a really friendly old Chinese couple who’re from Tianjin, China. As a Native Chinese, I suggest all Americans and Chinese go and try some real traditional Chinese food. My personal favorites are Egg with Zucchini, Crispy Honey Shrimp, Shrimp/Mushroom Tofu, Pork Bamboo & Bean Curd, and Pork with Jalapeño. To most Americans, I think Crispy Honey Shrimp will be your favor after you try it.

I had the bulgogi, if you can call it that, and an egg roll. The egg roll was really bland. The bulgogi was pretty tender, but it tasted like ground beef. Overall I am unimpressed. I pretty much took a couple bites of the bulgogi and then just ate the rice.

Hadn’t been to this place in a good long time. I ordered the Coco’s Chicken with fried rice and a spring roll and everything was great. This is one of my favorite Asian places around. Will be coming back here again soon for some of their nuclear hot and sour soup.

I don’t typically write reviews, but I really didn’t care for this place. I read a lot great reviews, but I didn’t experience what others did. I got the House Tofu which is a crispy tofu with vegetables in a brown sauce, which other reviews had mentioned as delicious. I didn’t find it tasty. I found the brown sauce pretty weak and too salty. There weren’t too many vegetables in the dish either(6 pieces of broccoli, a sliver of zucchini, and a few tiny pieces of mushrooms). Overall, it was really disappointing. :-( Needless to say, I won’t be back. I hope others have better luck here. It’s in Grandview and Basil Thai’s on King and Northstar and Nong’s Hunan Express on King and Northwest produce WAY better products in my opinion.

Good food, friendly people, good portions, and reasonable prices. Did Garlic Chicken and asked for it to be extra spicy. That seemed to amuse the man taking the order. I saw the peppers in the dish, but it was medium by my standards. The flavor was good and the ingredients were fresh. Overall, it was a winner.

Recommend Pork with Jalapeño, Crispy Honey Shrimp and Fish Fillet Black Bean Sauce. Authentic Chinese restaurant and go there once a week!

Been going to this place for almost 3 years as its right across the street from my apartment, The Meridian. The owner of this joint is a dope ass Chinese dude who is a funny guy and great to talk with. The food here is consistently good and they have pretty damn big portions. I’ve never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for takeout. They also have an authentic Chinese menu that is different every day written on the white board, I can’t read it but it smells pretty good. This place is also pretty authentic too as I see lots of mainland Chinese students in their always stylish Capri pants eating here all the time

Came across this restaurant when I was seeking for food in grandview. Their foods are good and at the right prices. Loved their shrimp tofu with mushroom!

Ate here on Saturday night after the OSU football game. Clean place with reasonable prices. We got the pot stickers, lo mein, hot spicy chicken with fried rice, and the pad thai. Nothing was spectacular, although the pot stickers were pretty darn good. The pad thai was nothing special; the peanut chunks were a little too big for my taste and the noodles seemed to thick to be pad thai noodles. The hot spicy chicken was very spicy but otherwise sort of bland and did not resemble the picture shown at all. The fried rice was ok and was not greasy like most but was also sort of bland. The lo mein seemed fine as well. As I said nothing spectacular but the place was clean, the prices were good and the location on 5th is great since I live so close.

This was my first Chinese food experience in Columbus, and I am quite disappointed. I ordered the tofu dish with the fried rice on the side. It is not as authentic as I’d like, and there was just excess oil in every bite. If you’re just looking for food to grab on the go, then this would be a good place to get it, since they were pretty quick with their service and the food came out fast.

Nothing to complain about here, we got the house special spicy fish fillet bowl and tonkatsu, and everything was good. I forget some places traditionally use star anise or something in the broth, and I’m not a fan of it, but it was tolerable. The tonkatsu was good, but it had a bit too much sauce for us. Next time, we’d ask for less tonkatsu sauce or sauce on the side. I like how there’s a decent variety of Americanized Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Cantonese, and Sichuanese food. There’s something for everyone, and this is a no frills kind of place. Just order at the front, grab your stuff, and sit down to wait for the food to come to you. The people are very friendly, and I’d go back to try other dishes.

CoCo’s has quickly become my go-to Chinese food spot. The location is super convenient and has a decent size parking lot out front. Although it shares the same lot as a liquor store and Jimmy John’s, I’ve never had trouble finding a spot. CoCo’s has become a great place for my boyfriend and I to grab food when we are too tired/lazy to cook at home. He usually gets the General Tso’s while I typically get the beef and broccoli. Both are always delicious. One warning: the food is HOT. Not spicy hot, but you-will-burn-your-mouth-if-you-eat-it-immediately hot. Even if you get the food to-go, it is still REALLY hot 15 – 20 minutes later. This is not necessarily a bad thing but just beware. CoCo’s is four stars in my book. Super fast, convenient and cheap! Our meals combined are usually around $ 12!
