Coming here for years but no more. Quoted me one price at order, then charged much more when I picked it up. Many of the staff are rude. Always way too much icing on the cakes and the colors are always wrong and very dark.

I have ordered cakes and petit fours several times for different events and they are always delicious and BEAUTIFULLY decorated! I have taken a picture in, emailed pictures and even just told them over the phone what I wanted and they always turn out so amazing. The cakes are not cheap but they are delicious and they put a lot of time into decorating them. When you take that into consideration they are comparably priced to the mediocre cakes that you sometimes get from grocery store chains. Their deli is also great and everything I have had there is delicious as well. The staff is always very nice.

Their cakes are very unique but they use 6 inches of icing to decorate the cake. They then add another 2 inches in the design. I cannot eat the cake until I scoop off the icing. The prices are not negotiable no matter how you ask the person to decorate it. One time I ordered a wedding shower cake for an art teacher. I told them she was a free spirit and loved art. I got a cake with MUSHROOMS, LAVALAMPS and PEACESIGNS. Seriously! For a wedding shower cake. I told them it was a wedding shower! Every cake I’ve ordered for my son has BLACK icing. Every birthday party is spent with parents scrubbing mouths and rinsing mouths to prevent black smiles. I haven’t been back since the last birthday cake. It was a disaster.

Ordered a cake for a special occasion. The decorations were fabulous but the cake itself didn’t taste very good. So if you are going for great pictures, this is the place to order from. If you want the cake to be tasty, find somewhere else.

the food looked great and smelled great when we entered. We ordered to go The éclair had been previously frozen so the otherwise tasty filling was curdled That night we ate the petit fours we also purchased Icing was put on too thick and the cake was dry and crumbly Would not return to this bakery

We — and our lucky guests — have always been delighted with the cakes we have gotten from Columbus Corner Bakery. The cakes are delicious and the decorations are great. But don’t just take my word for it: ask a pro: My sister-in-law is a competent baker and loves cakes. She is from a small town where everyone always sent their best cakes to church dinners, funerals, etc. The girl knows cake. She lives in Atlanta. Her favorite bakery is… Columbus Corner Bakery. She always asks us to bring the cake.

I have been coming here for years for my kids cakes. The last two experiences here have left such a bitter taste in my mouth I will not be back. The girl«helping» me was rude and had no idea what she was doing. The girl went as far as to accuse me of yelling at her when I asked her to clarify what she meant by «it’s not going to be the birthday cake then it will be something different. And it will be more expensive. Do you still want it!?» Hmmm, I don’t think asking«well, what does that mean» is considered raising my voice at someone. She went to get another lady to help me, she turned out to be just as rude. I just bought a ½ sheet cake in September shaped like a lobster, I paid $ 45 for it. This cake is a simple ¼ sheet cake shaped like a coffin and I was charged $ 60. When I asked if their prices went up the lady snapped at me and said that’s what they always cost, I told her I JUST ordered a larger more detailed cake for $ 45 and she told me «no». I offered her my acct records showing what I paid and all she said is I was charged the wrong price so it doesn’t count. Over all this was a horrible experience, I would have walked out but my daughter was there wanting her birthday cake ordered so I just told them how unhappy I was and let them know I will be looking for a new bakery. By the way all I wanted was a simple«quilted look» added to the outside of the coffin. Didn’t think I was asking to much.

The staff at Columbus Corner Bakery are extraordinary. Their support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is great. They make all the«Wish Cakes» for children in the Columbus, GA area. Apparently, it’s also their policy to not charge Wish Families for stuff anymore. My wife just returned from the store with two large boxes of eclairs, muffins, turnovers, etc and it was all free. Everything was great. I see that other Unilocalers have given poor reviews for service or attitude. I’ve been there several times and I’ve never had a problem. Perhaps, the reviewers contributed a little bit of their attitude. As far as price, if you’re going to a boutique bakery; then you should be prepared to pay more than the big box grocery stores. Give them a shot, go in with a fun attitude(you’re buying cakes/pastries for Pete’s sake), and enjoy the results.

I had a great experience Columbus Corner Bakery. I don’t remember her name but she was very friendly on the phone and in person. We talked for about ten minutes in person. She really made my day. My husband is in Afghanistan so I am spending my birthday alone but I have a great cake to eat. It’s only a 6 inch cake but it’s perfect for couples. I ordered the yellow cake and she did a buttercream frosting with a beautiful blue design(my favorite color). I would definitely use them again but we are in the process of moving out of state in August. The butter cream frosting is very sweet but it’s really good and the cake is nice and moist. You are paying a little more but just an FYI out there to anyone that didn’t already know. Walmart, Winn Dixie, etc gets there cakes delivered in frozen so when you order a cake you are not getting a freshly baked cake. I would rather pay a few dollars more for a cake made on the premises. Don’t believe me, call your local Walmart or other grocery chain and they will tell you that the cakes are shipped to them frozen. You get what you pay for. I prefer fresh and that’s just what I got.

The other reviewers have no idea what Good Cake is. This place is about equal to the Winn Dixie or other mass-produced cakererys. Manpanion and I had high hopes, which were dashed after a sampling of 4 desserts: Cupcake, caramel Square-Cake, Bön-Bön Cake and Pie-Triangle. The Pie triangle thing was actually un-finishable, tasting faintly of refrigerator and wax. The«buttercream» frosting tastes like whipped sugar lard, no trace of butter to be savored. The cake is pretty good cake, well-beated, fluffy and light, but the frostings are so bad, there’s no salvaging the cake. Pat-a-cakes, which is not on Unilocal,is the Best Cake in Columbus, GA — closed on Monday and Sunday. No point in treating at the CCornerB, unless one is partial to cheap-tasting desserts, ala airplane cake.

This place easily makes the best cakes in the town. I remember my first introduction to the place was at a wedding and the two cakes that they made for the event were both gone in a matter of a few minutes(no joke) we even had people scraping the frosting off of the bottom of the empty pan.

*** WARNING *** Cakes generally for happy occasions. Don’t let Columbus Corner Bakery spoil your fun. Originally I gave this place 5 stars but after recent events I’m lowering them to 2 stars. Not because the cake’s aren’t great but because the staff/owner can be rude and they are notorious for quoting a low price and then charging higher price when you pick it up. Here is a direct quote from a friend: «I know accidents happen but she was so rude, charged me more and then still didn’t get it right.»
