Nice addition to the Hilltop-great coffee… all new businesses have kinks. Props to those who remembered it’s about rating the business and not downing the neighborhood.

I happened upon this place when searching for a house and I love it. Their seasonal flavors are really fun, and the soft serve is the creamiest ever. The bourbon carmel sauce is a must try.

My wife and I love this place! Our favorite ice cream place on the west side! The ice cream is super creamy and delicious! Definitely not in a great part of town, but the place is very clean and well-maintained. Their prices are more than reasonable. Highly recommend the warm brownie sundae!

I’ve been eyeing this place since they started construction, and finally had a chance to check it out today! This used to be a boarded-up old Dairy Queen, until a woman from Westgate bought it and fixed it up. If you aren’t from the area, this shop will look out of place; the neighborhood is a bit rough. There were several customers that we saw come up to the window in the 20 minutes or so that we were here that grumbled about the price, asked for free water, and tried to pay with pennies. The people that work here put up with a lot of flack, so props to them. I’m already a fan of this place in principle. Let’s start improving the Sullivant Ave. corridor! All neighborhood activism aside, the soft serve here is really good! It’s thick, with a true vanilla flavor. I saw that some other Unilocal reviews mentioned a blueberry flavor, but I didn’t notice it on the menu. I wonder if perhaps they have made some tweaks to their original offerings since they’ve opened? They seemed to have a nice mix of treats; soft serve cones, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, frozen chocolate bananas, and dole whip! They serve some real food items, like pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, and chips. They also have hot and iced coffee. I came with the intention of getting a dole whip, but I was enticed by the idea of a Stauf’s coffee float. Any of you kids from the west side probably know this, but it’s tough to find good coffee on this side of town. The coffee float was so good! The prices here are comparable to what you’d pay at Dairy Queen. They aren’t quite as cheap as Dairy Twist(farther west on Sullivant) but I think that the flavor and quality is better. Also, they provide a lot of local products, which is a nice touch. I have seen their mobile cart at the Hilltop Swim Club, as well as Westgate Summer Jam, and I really appreciate the way that they are active in the community. Come check this place out and give the good ol’ westside a boost!

They get five stars for having vegan soft serve. VEGAN soft serve. The neighborhood is awful and I have no idea how they survive financially but you should go and get ice cream there. Nice looking place, clean and very friendly staff. And inexpensive– under $ 2 for a small cup of, and I will say it once more, vegan soft serve. They have dairy stuff too.

Better than DQ or Dairy Twist. Love the warm brownie sundae and all the parfaits. Great portions, quality ingredients and friendly owner! So glad to see a beautiful little investment in our neighborhood.

First trip here and loved the Triple Berry Parfait. The Peanut and Chocolate Parfait and more peanuts then we like but the taste was good. Glad to have a soft serve ice scream spot so close to home.

First. Order a Frozen chocolate coved BANANA… Then try the Brownie sundae! And then order a coffee to go! Cream & Sugar serves Soft serve ice cream, Dole Whips, Banana Splits & more served by very friendly people. Cream & Sugar has transformed this old DQ into a fabulous tasty ice cream joint w/coffee and lunch specials. To include a Walk up window and or drive thu. The place is super cute, clean & sweet. Follow on Facebook to learn the daily deals… Glad to have a local friendly ice cream on the hill. A must try!

Nice local addition to West Columbus. Service can be slow however, and they could use more flavors. Good soft serve vanilla!

They are very expensive for their food and ice cream. Very mean and not happy customer service when served at the window. There’s better ice cream shop up the road on Sullivant ave. Where prices are affordable and you get what you paid for.

Excellent new place in the Hilltop! Been there too many times already since they opened.(: Delicious, homemade blueberry ice cream, an amazing peanut butter and chocolate shake, wonderful chicken sandwich, the best hot coffee in the area(even beats Starbucks!)… and so much more! Drive through here often– you will not be sorry!

I watched curiously as this place was transformed from a DQ into this great little place. I have stopped serveral times for coffee, which is great… they serve Stauf’s. Last week they served a Guatemalan blend that was excellent. I have also stopped several times for ice cream. I prefer the parfaits and the kids enjoy the ice cream cups & cones with extra fixings… pretty good selection of add ons. I tried the chicken sandwich combo for lunch one day. The sandwich was pretty good but I will try the coneys next time. They use chili from Phillips so they are bound to be great. The combo comes with a pretty large bag of Ballreich’s chips, which you need to try if you have never had them. The staff seems to be still learning and can be a little slow at times, but that will come with time. That said, your order is always accurate and they are always friendly. It does not seem like this is simply a job to them. They appear to be genuinely excited to be working there and that enthusiasm shows. They have some outdoor seating available and plenty of parking, for those who choose not to use the drive thru.

Not bad. Soft serve, only three flavors. Kind of icy. Blueberry is weird and blue, sort of like superman ice cream.

Visited during their first week of business. Very friendly staff and great ice cream! This place has ample parking, a drive-thru, and 2 patios. In addition to the ice cream they also serve food — some BBQ and hot dogs. The food items are sourced from local/Ohio vendors so that’s a definite plus. Finally, they also serve Stauff’s coffee.

If you’re already in the neighborhood, then Cream & Sugar would be an A-OK place to grab a quick bite or a little ice cream to fix your sweet tooth. I’m so excited that a locally-owned restaurant popped up inside an old Dairy Queen in Franklinton. While I was hoping it would be an amazing hole-in-the-wall destination, driving traffic to this fantastic neighborhood that needs more love, it’s really not worth the trip. C&S has loads of potential – the product just isn’t all that great. But in the spirit of optimism, here’s a list of the good stuff first: –Adorable walk-up shop. They did a great job converting the old DQ. There are clean, bright colors and great signage. –Such a great addition to the neighborhood, and they didn’t build something new! –Really friendly staff that is eager to help. And now about that menu… They offer a few sandwiches: pulled pork, chicken, and a hot dog. I think there were a few other items, but these are the ones I remembered. I didn’t have any of these, but if the quality is like the ice cream(their staple), then I have a pretty good idea what it all tastes like. I wanted their soft serve ice cream, so I asked the lovely young lady to give me the scoop(wait, I need a pun… what’s the term when it’s soft serve… Give me the pump? Give me the swirl? Bad idea, Bryant…). She explained that everything was homemade and that blueberry was their signature flavor. Sooooo if your signature flavor is going to be something kinda crazy like blueberry, then it needs to be *amazing*. She handed me a sample cup of the most artificially-colored blue goo that I’ve ever laid eyes on. And it tasted pretty awful. I asked if there were blueberries in there, and she said it was«flavoring.» Hmmm… «homemade,» eh? I decided on a kid’s cup of vanilla(about 4 oz), and at first I thought it was fine. But the more bites in, it kinda got worse. By the end of my tiny cup, I had the most awful aftertaste in my mouth and my stomach was super queasy. Cream & Sugar is really more like 2 stars, but I can’t bring myself to do that to a business that *just* opened in a neighborhood that I genuinely love. This place makes so much sense on paper, but the execution falls flat – and neon blue.

I’m not trying to compare this place to Jeni’s. Really. I know not everyone can be the most awesomesauce ice cream place. But on a continuum where Jeni’s is a 10, Graeter’s is like a 7, and Dairy Queen is a 4, this place is a 2. I went over there with Bryant M. earlier today, and we were really, really excited for a cute little ice cream shop on the west side. Re-using an old DQ! Homemade soft serve! etc. The menu was. .. a little all over the place in some ways. It was kind of like a DQ but less organized and developed. They serve hot dogs, ice cream, sundaes and such, and slushes. I don’t know if it was just my brain or an organizational issue, but I stared at the menu for awhile without being able to decide on something that looked good – and y’all, this is ice cream. What we also didn’t see was a list of flavors. So we asked. They had vanilla, chocolate, and their«signature» ice cream, blueberry. Would we like to try the blueberry? Oh, yes! Y’all, it was BLUE. Like… food dye blue. With blueberry flavoring. Nary an actual blueberry in sight. And it did not taste good. We were baffled at how a «signature» flavor could be… blue food dye and blueberry flavoring. The girl seemed very enthusiastic about the ice cream being made from scratch, but seemed confused as to that process – between the electric blue ice cream and her description of mixing the ice cream«in a bag,» I actually do wonder if they make it from scratch. We played it safe and ordered vanilla. Bmac got just plain vanilla; I went fancy and got a tiny sundae. The menu said you got your choice of ice cream, topping, whipped cream and a cherry with a sundae, so I asked for vanilla with marshmallow. She made it correctly, but there was some unnecessary confusion about what I wanted(they’re new so I’m assuming there will be more training coming). To be fair, the girl serving us was really sweet and it definitely was not her fault that the product was kind of terrible. Even the vanilla didn’t taste good, and I have a giant white trash side of me that loves soft serve from McD’s. It’s not like I can only eat gourmet ice cream off a silver platter or something. It had a really off-putting chemical taste that lingered in the back of my throat for far too long. It wasn’t INEDIBLYDISGUSTING. But it wasn’t good. I’d go to Dairy Queen sooner than I’d come back here.
