It’s a Starbucks now. I was looking forward to a classic coffee house. I like Starbucks but I can get that anywhere.

Cup O Joe/Mojo Lounge visitors: I went there today(5÷9÷2014) and discovered that the place(coffee side and the lounge side) is closed. There are signs in the window that say they are closing for remodeling. Supposedly, they will reopen in the Summer. Better call before you visit in the coming weeks to make sure that you don’t waste a trip!

Having recently visited this classic Cup of Joe in the GV(my favorite place to spend some quality time with new books from the loft) I thought I would do a review for my Coffeehouse in Columbus list. But then I heard that they were shutting down for a few to redecorate. So is it worth it to review it, to describe the characteristics of a business when it may come out as something different? Probably not. But I will anyways, lets call this a before-and-after, a kind of Unilocalers café version of This Old House but with a catch – I’m skeptical that the new version will be better than the old; I fear that they will do away with what makes the place charming for the ephemeral gloss of sterile corporatism. This Cup Of Joe shares an affinity with the Clintonville version in that it is in a old building that jives with its vintage décor. The outer façade is almost neo-classic, with its foo-roman columns and stucco paint. Inside the furniture has a classic 1930s feel, the chairs are comfortable to sit. It is the perfect place to read, and that makes it a soulmate to its neighbor, the Bookloft. It has plenty of space and has more sofas than a Starbucks usually has, Near the bar, there is a nicely toned bookshelf with some interesting selections of local concern. COJ always has a huge selection of free newspaper available: Alive, neighborhood rags, LGBT themed circulars, and art monthlies fill its fixtures. For those now addicted to Ipads, COJ has free Wi-Fi. As with the Clintonville COJ, this one has a very cool, fun, and open clientele. I have met many friend from joining conversation here, have made a few dates, and have enjoyed countless more conversations that span from high philosophic ideas to low, laughable humor. Those memories and the people I’ve met here makes this place endearing. Cup of Joe can serves a fine latte. The coffee is bought from Grandview’s Staufs and is fresh and aromatic. Although, and this is the same at all COJ, you don’t always get a quality drink. Consistency is lacking IMHO. Although I’d say that most of the time their Mocha(the latte I order the most) is good, once in awhile I do get a watered down drink. This is probably the biggest mark against what is otherwise a nice Café. Now my fear is that they plan to turn this special, classic place into more like the Short North COJ/Mojo Lounge – which I feel doesn’t have the charm of the GVs, where the lounge is separated from the Café. I hope not. I will return after renovations are complete and do a re-review. I hope they retain some of that classic feel. I hope they don’t make it like the Short North store. Say it is not so Joe, say it’s not so!

This is the best«chain» coffee in Columbus, but the best espresso belongs to Impero.

This place brings a lot of character and charm to traditional coffee shops. We love that it is located next to the book loft — grab a new book and fold into one of their comfy chairs as you consume a unique beverage. We shared one of their mint hot chocolates and Cup O’Joe delivered. It was a defined minty flavor and came quickly. There are plenty of other great beverages for you to try that have a similar, unique, makeup. The service here is great. We were greeted with a smile and they answered all of our questions. They also offered up plenty of helpful suggestions as we tried to decide what to try. Give Cup O’Joe a try and you will not be sorry. Enjoy!

This is one of my new favorite coffee spots, the atmosphere is usually quiet and filled with professionals and mature students. I always have a very friendly experience with the staff– they are welcoming, open, and good for a quick conversation. Since it is a chain coffee shop, there isn’t anything particularly unique or exciting about it, but it serves its purpose as a quiet place to get work done

I enjoyed my iced chai tea latte. There is a nice patio outside with shade if you want to enjoy a hot summer day. I thought the AC was not working well, because it was hot inside. In any case, if you are in German Village, this is a nice place to grab some coffee or read a book!

Cup O’ Joe is a completely solid alternative to large chain store Starbucks, even if it is always rather boring – that’s okay, it’s just a coffee shop. Coffee is fine, seating is good, location(right next to the Book Loft) is fantastic. Use your SBB card for a free drink upsize. I got excited last time I stopped in because they are now stocking gluten free treats from Food for Good Thought!

I’d give this Cup O’ Joe five stars if they didn’t have the big, sweaty fella that seems to be in charge. He just seems like he’s trying to sell me something when I come in. He also likes to wipe the sweat off his face just before touching my coffee. Go back to Chili’s fella! Everyone else there is fantastic though. Big fan of the rest of the staff! They really make the place tick even though the manager always seems to be in the way. He’s like a bald human speed bump.

Things to love: — It’s inside a building, very helpful when it’s really cold or hot outside Things to note: — Brownish water served as coffee

The German Village Cup O’ Joe may be the farthest from me, but I knew as I was exiting the adjacent Book Loft and saw that familiar insignia, I had to stop by. Boasting some of the best coffee in town, with Pattycake yummies to boot, Cup O’ Joe is one of my favorite local chains. Particularly notable is how each establishment blends in and reflects the neighborhood in which it is located. Much like the surrounding German Village, this coffeehouse is warm, low-lit and relaxed. It’s a place I would love to come with a book and lull myself to sleep. If only caffeine didn’t give me the shakes. For a weekend, the place wasn’t at all crowded, unlike my more-frequented Clintonville Cup O’ Joe, though I imagine this fluctuates depending on the day and time. The best part of this location is probably the outdoor patio, which I wasn’t able to use on a cold winter day, but in warmer weather would make for an excellent vista of the neighborhood.

Maybe it was just this location, but the atmosphere was very stale and it felt forced. The coffee was only decent, I would prefer something more local.

Ah, my neighborhood Cup O’ Joe. Things to love: — Proximity to the Book Loft: come in and read your recent purchases! — Complimentary dog treats for your pup, plus they usually set water outside. — Bigger, less crowded than the ‘Bux across the street. — The Joe Pumpkin is WAY better than the ‘Bux Pumpkin Spice Latte. It actually has REAL pumpkin in it, and doesn’t just taste syrupy sweet. You can also get it as a pumpkin chai, if you don’t want the espresso. — Free WiFi! Things to note: — It always feels really hot inside here to me, and I’m normally chilly. — No breakfast sammiches, but there’s plenty of grub from the MoJoe Lounge next door. — A little slower at preparing the drinks than ‘Bux, but if the line over there is long, you’ll still save time with the slower prep here. I love how all the Cup O’ Joes around town have a different vibe. The one downtown(by the Commons) is more business professional, the one by Lennox is a little younger/high school hangout, the one in the Short North is a little more nightlifey, and this one is a little more of a neighborhood snuggle-den.

What a great place, excellent service every time. Today they even made me a mexican hot chocolate to combat the colder weather outside. Good luck finding cayenne at your local starbucks. Only problem is of course parking, but I can usually find a spot within a block’s walk.

I don’t know why I am reviewing a place that needs no reviews because it is that good. I haven’t made as trip to German Village for awhile but I did tonight and I remember why I love this Cup o’Joe. The GV one is maybe the best one to work, read, drink coffee, meet with friends, or kill time in Columbus. It is friendly with a perfect ambiance for what you want. Outdoor seating for smoking, talking with friends, or a place to stop with your dogs. Indoor seating for working on one’s computer, reading, or talking one-on-one. Love this place

What can I say, I’m a big fan of Cup O Joe. The GV location is one of my favorites simply because it’s central, there’s typically parking available within a reasonable walking distance, and typically I end up running into some one I know. Almost as good as Cheers where everybody knows your name. As an added bonus, unlimited internet access — not like those other guys who shall remain nameless. The last great thing about Cup O Joe GV is there’s always something good happening in the MoJo Lounge as well. A great place to go and stay connected with what’s happening in the Columbus community for sure.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but their tea is pretty good, and they have a pretty nice selection. The thing I love most is the goodies. They always have lots of great, rich chocolate cakes and cheesecakes and even Jeni’s ice cream to choose from. Plus the comfy chairs are nice. One thing though, Mon-Thur they close at 10, not 10:30 as stated on this site, and they will shoo you out promptly at 10!

Now that I work next door, I stop in here at least 2 or 3 mornings a week. Thoughts: — The 7:01AM(coffee + espresso) is the best, and worst, idea ever — The breakfast sammich(egg, cheese, AMAZING bacon on bagel of choice) is one of my favorites — This is an awesome place for meeting. Excellent selection of comfy couches and chairs.
