Dan’s Deli No 44

I’ve been eating at Dan’s Deli #44 for about 3 years now.
Fantastic food. The gyros and sandwiches are consistently delicious, and Chef Tom is always trying new inventive menu items. Once he had a crab gyro, and while I was skeptical at first, I trusted him, and it was excellent!
Chef Tom is also a great guy all around. Friendly, helpful, and always efficient!
Personal Favorites:
Lil’ Bill — philly steak, griddled cheese, sauteed onions, bbq sauce, tzaziki sauce, and a bit of hot sauce, all on crispy texas toast

Best food truck on Campus. Amazing location. Tom is the best and the food is great. 6 stars.

This place is absolutely incredible. Hands down, my favorite Columbus area street food, for plenty of reasons. He parks himself currently where the 7 – 11 lot used to be, across from the Gateway. I believe he’s moving a block or so south soon.
First, and most importantly, the food. It isn’t expensive by any means for what you get, with a pretty good selection of grilled items. So far, I’ve had a giant grilled steak and cheese sandwich that was too large to finish in one sitting, as well as what might have been the greatest chicken quesadilla I’ve eaten to date. Also, plenty of sauces to choose from. The cheese is placed directly on the grill until it has a perfect browned even crust on the bottom, which adds a whole new level of texture and deliciousness.
The cook and owner, Tom (not Dan, despite the name of the place), is what makes coming back that much more worth it. An honest, great guy who has a lot to talk about and clearly enjoys doing what he does. I asked him why he does the night scene, why that specific location, etc, and his answer to all of those questions was simply that he just loved it there. Talking to him is a pleasure, as he is very conversational and loves to chat about whatever you bring up.

Dan’s Deli deserves a real 5 star review. The location is perfect, the food is always always good and hot and Tom always makes great conversation.
Its located across the street from gateway (tuna charlie bear area) in the parking lot of 711. You can find Dan’s deli there Wed — Sat from 10pm to 3am or later.
The food is good I mean really good. I cant say enough about the consistency and taste. The steak and cheese is awesome lots of cheese lots of peppers lots of steak and on a warmed pita. The effort put in to making this food is something you don’t see in some restaurants. Their onions are grilled, they offer to put cheese on your hot dogs (all beef) at no charge, their adult grilled cheese could feed you for an entire day and they offer endless options. All of this at a cheap price, and if you’re not too drunk to remember a frequent buyer card that lands you a free gyro at 10.
Tom the owner and cook is a nice guy, always makes good conversation. And if you’re not up for talking to tom sit back in one of the plastic chairs and enjoy the show that is being near gateway late at night.
