We like the place for decent pizza and subs. The pizza is inexpensive and usually good and I like most of their subs. I wish they would resolve their website issue and get their menu back up online so I can choose from more than memory but other than that we like this place.

This place is a hidden treasure! There pizza is always hot and fresh and the Stromboli is the best I’ve ever had!

Tried this place out after hearing a couple people calling it the best pizza on the west side. Well I would agree with that if they left their pizza in the oven longer. The middle was very doughy to the point of us not being able to eat it. Pepperoni tasted good and the cheese was decent. Sauce was pretty good, a little sweet which I like.

Pizza is pretty good. Service is alright, sometimes a bit slow but everyone is nice. Prices are decent. Their Monday night carry out deal is totally worth it.

Quirky — the door being on the side of the store. Large windows to see in, but if you’re stopping by for the first time, it might take you a second to realize the entrance is not out front. Old checkered linoleum floor. Obviously years of being walked on. But the walls were covered with new dry wall. I’m sure once paint is up, probably a few tables and chairs, the joint will look esthetically pleasing. Since there’s no tables during their renovations, we had to order, wait and take it home to chow down. The few Unilocal pics of Don’s Stromboli looked good, so me and my sister decided to share. Our Stromboli(three toppings): Sauage, mushroom and green peppers. We also go the Antipasto salad to split. We waited a little less than 20 minutes. The smells? Oh man! Amazing whiffs of pizza/spices. Box was warm all the way through. Stromboli was super good! Came with a large tin of pizza sauce. I actually like the tomato concoction. I’m not sure if they make it from scratch… It has a mild sweeter flavor, as opposed to a bitter, tangy taste(a personal yuck!). The The bread had a light garlic butter swiped on top. Oregano. Great dough! And the toppings were abundant! Tons of mozzarella cheese. The sausage — that was different: broken up crumbles. I liked that it wasn’t just chunks. The crumbles were spread over the entire half-moon. And I love mushrooms and peppers :)

The family loves Don Ginos. They generally have good specials. Pizza is good sweet, and use quality cheese. The stromboli is very good. Carryout and delivery only. The eat in area is no longer available.

Best pizza in town. Delivery is super fast even when they’re busy. I live about 5 blocks from there and by the time I call in a pick up order, get my shoes on and drive there, it’s ready. Their Italian subs are awesome too. Salads are super big with extra dressing. And the prices are super affordable for the amount of food you get. I fed 4 grown men for $ 20! The pasta dinners are enough for two people so beware if your not that hungry.

Last two times I visited were the worst customer experiences I have ever received. The first visit the employee behind the counter was so out of it and confused, he asked me for payment immediately after he just handed me my credit card back and had me sign the receipt. I said«I just signed the receipt.» He laughed and said«Oh yeah i guess you did.» His eyes were red and the area around the counter smelled of marijuana. I would make a safe bet to say he was stoned. The last visit I ordered double cheese and the cheese was so sparse there were spots on the pizza with no cheese at all! I called back and was told they would replace the pizza the next time I ordered. When I called back they told me they had no record of me ever ordering pizza there… ever…even though I had several times before. I asked to speak to the owner and after arguing they hung up. I called back and demanded to speak to the owner… that is when they told me they were going to call the police for calling them back! My advice… stay away from this eatery!!!

Got the Monday special today, and it was pretty tasty. Granted, there was nothing super spectacular about this pizza, but all of the ingredients worked well together.

Crust was very tough, much like cardboard and as if it was never proofed. The sauce and sausage had no flavor whatsoever. Not the absolute worse pizza I’ve ever had(if compared to a very poor execution by Domino’s) but I do not intend to ever get it again. I struggled to finish the two small square pieces on my plate and threw out the nearly two pizzas I had left since I couldn’t image eating any more of it. Disappointed. :-(

You just don’t know what to expect when walking into Don Gino’s. Literally, the front windows are covered up and there’s no front door. Instead, you have to pull open the windowless steel door on the windowless side of the building and take your chances. Of course your encouragement comes from the fantastic smells that somehow waft through all of this cinder block and steel out into the parking lot. Once inside, you’ll find a large empty«waiting room» with a checkerboard floor and a few chairs scattered about(no tables, this is take-out and delivery only). Service is super friendly and attentive. Taking a cue from other Unilocalers, I made the stromboli the main event and ordered up a small pep and shroom for posterity purposes. The pizza is a traditional Ohio style. The thin, crispy crust is very buttery, leaving behind a greasy cardboard box(and a greasy car seat). The toppings are all decent, but nothing spectacular. Kee’s review had my mouth watering, so I infringed on his stromboli order with the meatball, bacon and onion combo. The stromboli is gigantic. The dipping sauce was nice, with the right sweet/tart balance. I enjoyed the flavor of the stromboli, but it was also fairly greasy and loaded up with a TON of cheese. If you like cheese, this is for you. The cheese was a lot too much for my tastes. At the end of the day, Don Gino’s is A-OK. Not spectacular, but definitely quality. I enjoyed the food, but it’s a bit off of my beaten path to make it a regular haunt.

The stromboli is the way to go here! I’m in this area for work from time to time and was getting tired of eating at the chains along Hilliard-Rome Rd. After searching the Unilocal database, I ran into Lee C’s review of Don Gino’s stromboli and it was exactly what I was looking for. It truly is highly addictive! Now, $ 14.95 for a stromboli sounds a little ridiculous at first but this thing is huge and they give you so much marinara sauce. The sauce is more on the acidic side and works great with the meat and cheese of the ‘boli. I ordered a meatball/bacon/onion combo(you get three ingredients) and got a ‚“Oh man, that is a great combo!” from the guy taking my order. Not to pat my self on the back but it really was great! *pat* *pat* The most surprising part of the stromboli was the crispy outer shell that was absolutely perfect! How they keep it crispy with all the cheese on top I’ll never know. Highly recommended!

Don Gino’s pizza is good, even the wings are good and tender. HOWEVER, if you have not had a Don Gino’s STROMBOLI… you are missing the star attraction of Don Gino’s Pizza!!! On the menu this this has a subtle disclaimer that it is «highly addictive». That disclaimer is no lie! I understand at first glance the price seems steep but please take a chance, it is well worth every penny and will feed 2 and leave you stuffed. It could probably feed 3 – 4 but the addiction would make you wanted to exceed a serving size. I have tried many combinations almost anything with meatball is a win for me. You also get a large portion of sauce no little cups we’re talking dish of sauce. Please check it out and enjoy. *** note to Don Gino’s*** you should really market this thing better. You’ve got a winner on your hands! Maybe next time I will include a picture if I can keep my hands off it long enough…

We had Don Ginos pizza tonight and as always it was great. I love the crust on the pizza. We had pepp, mushrooms, and sausage and it was so good. My husband and son got the wings, which were fairly meaty, I had an Italian sub, which was filling. This place is great and has such a great atmosphere. Everyone is friendly.

Tried Don Gino’s tonight for the first time. And I was quite surprised. It was a good pie! Much better than the chains that’s for sure! Next time I will order a little extra done and little on the pepperoni, the sauce was good and the pepperoni was not spicy so that good but it was just a little greasy for me But for a 6.95 large carry out on a Monday you can’t go wrong! Looking forward to trying a sub! Give it a try!

You have the big chain pizza places and then you have the little guy. Both can be good in there own way, but there is something about the little guy that just as that little something more. Don Gino’s is a great little place with some really good food. There pizza, subs, and even garlic bread are items worth getting on a regular basis(almost once a week for this household). Give it a try and you won’t regret it.

Another road trip brought us back to Columbus. One thing we really missed since our college days was the strombolis that were available at many Italian restaurants and pizza joints. Unlike the bolis in Maryland, the Columbus ones are huge — enough for two young ravished late night revelers or three to four middle aged folk like us. Some places have their types of bolis on the menu with no substitutions. Be wary of those eateries cause that probably indicates they are made ahead of time and not made to order. We were hungry for a sausage, ham and mushroom so we called for a pick up. I did not have the pleasure of checking this place out, but my companion described it as a hole in the wall… not necessarily a bad thing. The boli looked good upon opening up the box. We asked for extra sauce and did not anticipate a pie plate filled with marinara. In the end, we were disappointed with our walk down memory lane. The whole thing was sloppy, and yes there is a thing as too much cheese. Nothing was in balance. The mozzarella quickly coagulated, the crust turned a little tough, and the end result was meh. I wish places like this hired people who actually cared about what comes out of its kitchen. Maybe I needed a couple more glasses of vino before I placed the order…

Great prices, great pizza! I have a buddy from Cincinnati that begs me to order Don Gino’s every time he’s in town. They cook their pizza in old style ovens(no conveyer belt pizzas here. Definitely a pickup or delivery place, the lobby and seating area leaves much to be desired. Who eats at pizza places anyways? Highly recommended!

Looking to try a different pizza place in our area we decided to give Don Gino’s a try. It is truly a simple neighborhood kind of place. We ordered pizza, Stromboli, and breadsticks. The Stromboli is massive and comes with a boat load of sauce for dipping. Very flavorful ingredients and a nice browned soft dough. The breadsticks were very very soft. Sort of like pizza hut style but bigger and softer(unlike the cardboard pizza hut serves). Plenty of red sauce for those too. Now I love pizza… like«if I could take one thing on a dessert island» love… But I’m not a pizza snob. I can find positive things to say about most pizza I eat. I liked the pizza. Though, I could see how people wouldn’t care for it. It’s simple and just on the cusp of bland. I think it actually serves for a great topping vehicle. The sauce doesn’t overpower you. The crust is good. Nothing fancy but it has a distinct flavor that I enjoyed. Overall we liked it. Good prices too. I think we payed about 20 for everything. This place is going into our pizza rotation.

Solid neighborhood pizza place for take-out. This place looked empty on a Saturday night. We were the only people there, at one of the 4 or 5 tables, but people were in every 10 – 15 minutes to get carryout orders. Why? The pizza’s super TASTY! Especially if you like sauces on the sweeter side, and pizza that tastes like real food(mmm… melty cheese)… lots of toppings on the pizzas too! Good fresh cut veggies. They were not well-equipped for diners eating in– we got take-out boxes cut in half and a towel instead of plates and napkins.
