Truly one of the most terrible bars in the area. I’ve lived here for 6 years, been to this bar twice. Service was terrible, beer selection not any better. The bartender spent most of the time outside on the phone. Patrons just helped themselves behind the bar. Beer is cheap though when you can get it

Best jukebox in town but it is a dive bar but no need to apologize for that! Great prices and specials daily!

Do not EVER go in this bar. My credit card got hijacked along w my id cause they were trying to double charge me then got punched in the face. Then the next day they tried to run my credit card again without my authorization. This bar is ghetto and shady!!!

I live just a few blocks from this stand alone bar in Merion village. I’ve been there three times; simply out of proximity to my condo. And honestly, there’s really nothing much to it. The bartender was nice enough, but it’s old, run-down and everyone in there was at least in their late 40s… On the weekend it doubles as a biker bar… At least I’m assuming, since there’s usually quite a few Harley’s and leather jackets there…

A friend of mine goes here often. Maybe a little more than often. He’s a big fan. I’m not so much. Since he’s so up on this place, maybe he should write a review. As it is, the world is stuck with mine… The stand-out feature of this pub is its bar. A long bar with wrap-around ends. The bar staff(there is no other kind of staff here, but it sounded more professional this way) is excellent. Fast, friendly in a biker kind of way, courteous when absolutely required. Wait a minute… didn’t I just say that the bar staff was excellent? Yep. If you’ve been in pubs like this before, you’ll think they are, too. If you haven’t been, you’ll probably think they’re having a bad day or something. Anyway, they have your drink to you in about 57 nanoseconds, so what’s to complain about? There’s a pair of electronic dart boards in the back. It appears that this is a venue for a dart league of some sort. It’s pretty cramped back there, so I’d have to see team dart play in action to evaluate how well this works out. So, I’ll just stop at noting the existence of the dart boards. The Wurlitzer-style digital jukebox is prominently displayed, and is cool looking. It seems to work OK, too. Sometimes, maybe a little too well(«I’m sorry, didn’t you just play that song three times in a row about 25 minutes ago?» «Yeah, maybe. What’s it to ya?» «Well, those songs are digital, aren’t they?» «I guess. Why?» «I read the other day that each time you play a digital song, a little bit of it leaks out. After too many plays, the song just disappears.» «Oh wow. I see what you’re sayin’. I’ll pay more attention from now on.» «Good idea, man. That sounds like the smart thing to do.») There’s speakers on the walls, which I think do double duty when there’s a live act playing. Finally, there’s a covered front porch. Great for the smokers(about 105% of the clientele). Maybe not so great for the folks trying to get in the front door. So, there you have it. Double D’s is a pub, first and foremost. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing for a pub to be.
