Actually the first time I went there, I LOVEDIT — LOVE it, but i keep going and the place gets more expensive and the quality keeps dropping… Each time I went the prices went up — 1st time — whole chicken meal with salad and fries, $ 16.99 — then the next time $ 21.99 and the last time $ 24.99 — the salad and chicken keeps getting worse. The salad leaves were brown. And the chicken has been sitting in a oven or somewhere for days. no rotating rotisserie… Also, once — I arrived at 11 — opening time, and didnt get served til 11.40– boo.

Food itself is 4+ stars, but it turned out to be really expensive for what it is.(Almost $ 12 for a ¼ chicken combo, which was essentially just a leg & thigh with fries and a very small salad) On the plus side, the chicken is extremely well seasoned and crispy. The next time I go, Ill probably just skip the combo and get the chicken.

Outstanding chicken, definitely worth a try. It would be nice if they offered some sides, like beans, hot peppers, or tortillas though.

Generally, I’m not the biggest fan of chicken, because usually chicken is dry and bland. Yet I’ve been to Fito’s probably four or five times, and everytime except once, that’s what I’ve gotten. The chicken is fresh, tender, juicy, and very delicious. It comes with a salad — I’ve gotten both the house Peruvian salad(lettuce with onions and avocado in a house dressing) and Greek(dark greens with tomatos, cucumbers, kalamata olives, feta, and greek dressing) — both are delicious. I’ve sampled most of the appetizers and a few of the other entrees. All were, at the very least, good. The«Cheese Grilled» sandwich is pesto, tomato, and the freshest mozzarella cheese I’ve ever had on grilled bread — excellent. The service is great. The people who work there are all incredibly nice, and because this is one of the few real quality options on campus, I’ve eaten there five or six times since I first tried it in March — and usually someone recognizes me. It’s a very pleasant place to go. Highly recommended, especially considering its location — on campus generally your options are fast food chains, or cheap low-quality grub because college students don’t know the difference. Fito’s is a delight.

i am a huge peruvian chicken fan. huge. and fito’s definitely ranks high in my book! the chicken is roasted on a spit, seasoned with a wonderful spice blend and has a delicious smoky flavor. the ahi sauce is bomb, and the fries were crisped to perfection. if you get a combo meal you can choose a salad, and the house and greek salads were both fresh and tasty. overall i loved this place! one of the better selections on high street. oh and it’s cheap!

The chicken is some of the best and is incredibly juicy and flavorful. The aji and chimichurri sauces really take the chicken to the next level.

I had a roasted chicken craving one day and when I read about that Peruvian place in my vicinity, it was a no-brainer. The place is not that easy to find as it has no obvious signs. It has a small sit down area and a few tables, You immediately have this family owned feeling as you talk with the staff behind the counter. I decided to go with a chicken causitas, a quarter dark chicken, and treated myself with a flan for desert. The causitas was lovely, layered with avocado, and chicken salad. It was a big portion too as an appetizer, really delicious. The chicken had a really nice flavor to it and was quite moist, I wish I had gone for a half chicken :) The flan was good. The only negative about this place is that it is not open often enough, as I have been back there twice to find it closed :( Highly recommended!

Somehow I’ve walked past Fito’s on the way to and from class roughly one billion times, though math isn’t my strong point, and I’ve never once noticed it. A few days ago, I happened to, and I’m glad I did. Fito’s is extraordinarily authentic; the boyfriend and I were the only diners who spoke any English at all. I generally take that as a good sign. We weren’t hungry enough to tackle the chicken, so we’ll have to head back, because the rest was great. We split a sandwich, the name of which I’ve forgotten, but there’s only one with fried pork and sweet potatoes happening at the same time, and it’s delicious. I think I’d prefer the pork wasn’t fried, actually, but the surprising addition of sweet potatoes more than made up for it. The fries weren’t at all bad, just very regular fries, but I wouldn’t recommend the tequenos. We split an order, didn’t get the guacamole advertised, and then couldn’t decide what, if anything, they were actually supposed to taste like.

Despite tonight being my third visit to Fito’s, it was my very first time trying the rotisserie chicken for which the restaurant is named. Ever the contrarian, I actually was planning on trying the asado(described on the menu as a sort of roast beef a jus), but they were out. So, being completely unobservant and totally failing to notice the quarter-chicken combo, I instead ordered the half-chicken combo, which comes with fries and a house salad. It was, quite obviously, WAY too much food for one person… at least, one person who hadn’t been fasting for three days prior. But the chicken is every bit as good as I’d heard. Like most rotisserie chicken breasts, it was extremely moist; so tender that when I tried to pull back the wing, it slipped straight off the bone. The skin was crispy and delicious: spicy, in the sense of having a bold, pungent flavor, not so much having a lot of heat. The fries were a touch over-salted, but they were fresh and crispy, and they tasted great with the sauce. Oh, the sauce. There are about as many variations of aji out there as there are different recipes for barbecue sauce; Fito’s is sunny yellow and creamy, so packed with garlic that it definitely qualifies as spicy(and this time, I DO mean it carries a good amount of heat, which, as a faithful Tabasco devotee, I loved). Fabulous. I was a little disappointed to discover that the house dressing, which the cashier told me was a vinaigrette, was more like a tangy ranch. But, really, who cares what the salad is like at a place with«chicken» in the name? I also have to comment briefly on the staff. Being such a young restaurant, in such a small venue, trying to win the ever-fluctuating loyalties of the college crowd, Fito’s cannot afford to have anything less than stellar service. And, luckily, they deliver on that front as well. You really get the sense that they honestly appreciate every customer. And what can I say? I like a place where they seem to like me, too. Although I’m currently quite confident that I have some very serious garlic breath, and I am still feeling kind of pregnant with food, I can say that I will definitely be back. Although I still might have to try that asado…

Fito’s is a breath of charcoal scented air when it comes to campus dining. They also have the distinction of making Pearl Alley actually smell GOOD. That contribution alone should win them the key to the city. Seriously though, Fito’s is a great place. The roasted chicken is Sunday Dinner delicious. They also have sandwich combos that I have found to be a good value. The chicharon sandwich is particularly tasty. Crisp slices of deep fried pork with mashed sweet potatoes on a toasty bun. The way the sweet potatoes worked in the sandwich really surprised me. I had my doubts at first, but I wouldn’t change a thing, it is delightful. The restaurant itself is comfortable, with more of a family atmosphere than other campus places. Photos of relatives hang on the walls and actual relatives hang around the dining room. Service is quick and friendly. If you’re bored with the usual campus offerings, Fito’s is an excellent change of pace.

This is my first time trying Fito’s and as peruvian, I’ll give them 3 stars because I was only able to try their rotisserie chicken. Chicken was good, not too spicy or bland and their fries were the right amount; however, their salad was a bit lacking. Too much lettuce, not enough radish and avocado. I think I still have lettuce for another 2 days. Parking is a bit of an issue, but I see they probably catering towards a Campus crowd. I hope to try more of their cuisine in the future.

My fiancé and I went here for dinner one night when I was FAR too lazy to whip up dinner… he spent the entire time making«yummy noises» over the chicken. Especially the chicken skin.(Sorry if I just grossed you out.) I’m not a huge chicken breast eater(THIGHSALLTHEWAYBABY!) but I was nice and gave the thigh to the boy and took the breast for myself. It was a chicken breast I’d eat again. :-) I’d have to agree with the other Unilocalers that the fries were not that fantastic. We did have the yucca, which was yummy.

The Chick-Fil-A reference in Nate S.‘s review made it so I had to try this place because any chicken that gets compared to a first Chick-Fil-A experience must be great. Fito’s is located in one of the least attractive locations on campus, but the small interior gives it a comfortable feel. It is the kind of place where you want to be a regular. One of my favorite parts of my visit was the staff. Everyone who worked in the restaurant was incredibly kind and sported big smiles. What can say? I am a sucker for family owned businesses. I ordered the ¼ pollo combo and the meal was very good. The chicken is very juicy and has great flavor from the spice rub the restaurant uses. The fries were average and the sauce they give you is really good. The chicken is the star of the menu. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this place for a while. It truly has hit on an underrepresented cuisine in this area and it will definitely hold its ground for a long time coming. It’s hard to describe just how amazing this type of rotisserie chicken is, but it’s juicy, well-seasoned and worth coming back for. I also enjoyed the choripan, which is a sausage sandwich. It’s easy to overlook this place with Eddie George’s next door, but take the path less traveled and you won’t regret it.

The chicken is flavorful, juicy, and most of the skin is very, very edible(just watch out for those little chicken bones). Brings me back to eating at little rotisserie chicken joints in Spain and Mexico: this is the real deal. The fries are fries, they’re there just to soak up the yummy juices of the chicken and the salad is just for eating something green. They close at 10PM every night if I’m correct, so be sure to think ahead and a ¼ chicken combo will fill you up and $ 6.99 is very reasonable for the quality. Great to see a new option that isn’t catering to the immature drunk college students who will eat anything.

I knew this place was going to be awesome when I went in and saw that the rotisserie was made in Lima. In my book, it’s always a great sign when a restaurant imports its equipment from the old country; especially when it’s a serious piece of hardware like this rotisserie is. My suspicions of awesomeness were absolutely confirmed. The chicken is slow roasted over charcoal with a dry rub and is KILLER. I don’t even really know how to describe how good it is. You what it was like when, after eating regular fried chicken all your life, you finally tried Chick-Fil-A? Well, eating at Fito’s is like that, but for roasted/grilled chicken, and maybe even a little better. The aji amarillo that comes with the bird(a sauce that is mostly yellow chile paste) is excellent, although the chicken is so good it really doesn’t even need it. Also highly recommended are Salchipapas; a mix of french fries and deep fried hot dog slices served with aji amarillo, chimichurri, and a cheese sauce. I don’t know where they get their hot dogs from, but they are obviously at least mostly beef, and are really good. Everyone who works here is incredibly nice(I suspect they are all family), and you can tell they are genuinely happy about you being there. Go here!

Went here for dinner tonight and I can’t say enough about the chicken. This is what rotisserie chicken should be, tender with bronzed, crispy skin. I got the ¼ pollo combo; came with ¼ rotiss. chicken, choice of salad(Greek, House — what I got, or Caesar), and fries. The salad was decent and the fries leave something to be desired, but my first impression was a good one based on the chicken alone. Good place for groups, after checking out the menu, if you get a full chicken and split it with others, you can knock down the cost pretty well if you’re on a budget. They only have bottled water and charge $ 1.20 for each, so I guess that’s something else to keep in mind when you order.

Fito’s Peruvian Rotisserie-Chicken recently opened near Eddie George’s in South Campus area. It is delicious. Excellently seasoned rotisserie chicken cooked over coals and served with french fries and salad makes for a wonderful lunch. I work in the Gateway area and am very happy this place has opened. There is a dearth of decent places to eat around here and having Fito’s in the neighborhood is a welcome addition. I’ve travelled in Peru and other places in South America and the place has the look and feel and smell of authentic rotisserie chicken. The staff is wonderful, friendly and accomodating. One final thing — the ají. Ají is Peruvian salsa and in Peru it comes in many, many forms depending on region or personal recipe. The creamy version at Fito’s is great with french fries or chicken. My only suggestion would be to ditch the frozen french fries and make hand-cut fries from real potatoes. After all, Peruvians are potato masters!
