Just finished off a chilli slaw dog. It was great food. The guy who made it for me was helpful and nice. I also ordered a cheese brat which I’ll get to when I’m done writing this. For me, Weenies was a little hard to find, since I was new to the area; and parking was challenging. Even so, totally worth it and I’ll def go back for more Weenies.

If you are looking for a REALLY good hot dog, and a quaint, cozy little place in which to eat it, you should try Weenies. Located just north of the Gateway, at High and Chittenden, this start-up restaurant has everything you want in the ultimate comfort food… HOTDOGS. The restaurant is relatively small, with around 10 tables inside and wrought iron patio seating outside. It’s very warm and inviting, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food is served«cafeteria style,» similar to Chipotle. You choose your bun(white/wheat), your weenie(All Beef Classic, Hot/Spice pork/beef, Bratwurst, Chicken Dog, or Veggie Dog). Or, for all those«Man vs. Food» lovers out there, there is the ½-pound and 1-pound weenies. Next you have your choice of many free toppings, with additional«fancier» toppings being 35 cents each. The possibilities are endless. Currently there are no predetermined combinations, but ask the staff for advice… they had some VERYGOOD suggestions. My favorite two weenies were 1) the Weenies Classic dog(an all-beef weenie that doesn’t taste like your run-of-the-mill Oscar Meyer frank) and 2) the Spicy Hottie(a mix of pork/beef with a bit of a kick). I topped the Classic with their homemade coney sauce, cheese, onions, jalapenos, mustard and Fritos. I topped the Spicy with mustard, ketchup, neon green relish, and their homemade coleslaw. BOTHWEREFANTASTIC!!! There are also a variety of sides to choose from, including freshly made chips with gorgonzola drizzle, sweet potato fries with smokey honey mustard-bbq dipping sauce, and mac-n-cheese. And if you DON’T try the Buckeye Brownie, YOUAREMISSINGOUT!!! Give this place a try. Keep in mind that it’s still new and working out the kinks, but if you’re a weenie fan, it’s definitely a must! P. S. They don’t have their liquor license yet, but they’re working on that detail.

Loved it! I tried a classic dog and a hottie, both were awesome. The classic I had topped with mustard, coney sauce and cheese. The hottie I had topped with ketchup, mustard, a lovely sweet pepper relish and tomato spears. Yum. On the side I had some sweet potato fries with barbecue honey mustard sauce, and these chips with a cheese and bacon drizzle. Ugh, it was so good I’m still thinking about it. Furthermore the staff was so awesome that I felt like I was visiting old friends. I can’t wait to go back.

Attention all college students, this will now be your favorite place. I am not sure what is going on with campus food, but for some reason places like PJs and Weenies will thrive :) This place was something to experience. It is Chipotle style for hotdogs. The location sits right on Chittenden, but is not run down or scary at all(sorry, but some of the places in this area are). They have nice, patio seating and indoor seating as well. When you walk in you get to choose your dog, such as a vegetarian, chicken, all beef, etc. I went with the good old all beef dog and then let the fun begin! There are an array of toppings, and so many that I know it could have ended in an inedible dog, so I played it semi-safe. I went with chili(which they actually ladled out, and put back on the stove to freshly warm up), cheese, onions, peppers, and then to top it off some nice, crunchy fritos. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries to go with my new creation. Now, normally I like my sweet potato fries salty, with some zinger dipping sauce, but I went with the workers recommendation and got their dipping sauce that combined marshmallow fluff and maple syrup(can you tell I was very health conscious when I visited… not). They were all delicious, and then best part is they were reasonably priced!!! I will definitely be stopping in here for another over indulgent lunch :)

What was with this place? I went a couple weeks ago and I still can’t figure out what happened. So we went in and there was only one other person ordering. They had already ordered and were waiting for their hotdog to be cooked. My dining partner and I read the entire menu and took forever to order. When we finally decided, I ordered the Chicago dog and was told there was no onions. What? Do you have more in the back? The guy just said, «nope» and looked at me. What kind of hot dog place can’t make you a Chicago dog and doesn’t give any sort of explanation? I ordered a regular Chicago dog with no onions. I don’t know if there was a grill malfunction or what(no one would say anything about it except ‘sorry’), but the hot dog was on the grill for 20 minutes. Then, a woman dumped a glass of water on it and had to relight the flame underneath it. What? It was just weird. So we finally start eating. We picked a table outside that overlooked part of the side street off High. It was kind of nice! And then the staff started yelling at each other(and not in a nice fun carefree way). Stuff like, «what is your DEAL today?!» and«Shut up! SHUTUP!». It felt kind of like a domestic dispute and weirded me way way out. The hot dog itself was pretty good, it was just overshadowed by such a weird experience. And even though it was pretty good, it still was not a Columbus standout by any stretch of the imagination. I’d like to say I’ll try it again, but with so many good hot dog places opening in Columbus, I don’t know that I have a reason to, honestly.

Mediocre hot dogs with hohum boring toppings that can be found in your fridge. The owner, Leslie D., was in the shop when I visited and quick to point out how their dogs had a «great snap» and were different. I was disappointed by her empty promises. Dirty Franks has a lot of great toppings and Best of the Worst in the North Market has the best dogs.

Best Hot Dog EVER!!! Went with a bunch of friends last Saturday night pretty late and they were open with great food! The sweet potato fries and onion rings are the best! Very friendly staff as well!
