I’ve never been to Cabela’s, but I’ve been to Dick’s and Field and Stream so those are my comparison points. Gander Mountain is definitely geared more toward hunting than Dick’s– walking in, it felt like you had two options: guns or clothes. In that sense I’d say it’s more like Field and Stream. Dick’s has more sporting goods, Gander Mountain has more hunting and fishing stuff. There are some camping supplies, and a few sporting things. Service was great. Prices were a bit high. When I got there, I wasn’t sure it was open anymore– the outside is very blank.

This is such a falilure of a store it’s not funny. First off the ammo prices are ridiculous I can buy any ammo they have for less online or at most other gun stores here in columbus. Second their gun prices are MSRP on most guns and when you point it out or show another competitor ad they act like you are killing them. They insist on calling their local competition to see if an item is in stock prior to honoring the ad. If another company can advertise and sell it for that price then so can this big box store. I have gotten to the point where the mixture of rude service/lack of service coupled with high prices and poor price match system I won’t even go here. Try Vance’s and save money and time.

I wasn’t impressed with this store in the slightest. They honestly looked like a sears hardware with the same lame setup and style w/overly priced junked lining their shelves. My husband and I were looking to buy a gun since we moved into the city and we were shopping around and looking for info & prices. Gander Mountain, first & formost, was charging more money for everything we wanted to buy and all of these things were based on Cabela’s overly priced things. Were werent impressed with either store’s willingness to help us or their lack of knowledge when it came to our questions. Not to mention the lines were ridiculous at Gander Mountain and their return policy is horrible. We went to Vance to buy our gun. Their people were much more helpful and their prices were way lower.

In 2013, gun ammo is hard to come by. No different here. The ammo shipment always comes in Thursday evening. Call and ask if standing in line would be worth it. They will give you a general idea on the size of the shipment. Come early Friday morning if you need to make a purchase. Other wise the store is a smaller store. The staff is always willing to help. The gun counter staff, in my experience, are extremely knowledgeable.

I had to, once again, stop by Gander Mtn. to purchase a few items and I couldn’t have been happier with the purchase. Ian and Jay were great. As Ian was helping me with my web order, Jay kept me busy with some good stories. Thanks, Gander. I will be back!

This is a really large store but you wouldn’t know it from the outside. It’s only when you get inside that you realize how large it is. Besides the rifles and pistols, they sell a lot of other things like fishing gear, canoes, boots and other clothing and just about anything else you’d need for camping or hunting.

I’m getting my hunting license next month so I stopped in here to check out prices on fire arms to get an idea of what I am getting myself into. Of course, I really had no idea about what I was looking at so I called upon the staff. Each department has a resident expert and the hunting guru was most helpful. They also have classes and a fishing festival coming up. I didn’t leave with a rifle, instead a ton of winter gear on the cheap. Everything is on sale right now. I picked up a set of seirus hat and gloves for under 40 bucks great price for good cold weather gear. I also got a GM fleece, Columbia camo neck warmer, and a wool spun long sleeved shirt. My total was less than 60 bucks. but then again I wear kids sizes. :)
