Japanese steakhouse food, without the show. It’s a little confusing walking in– which end of the counter do you order at?(Veer left.) But after that ordering is simple, and service was super fast and friendly. Pick your meats, rice, and veggies, and it’s ready pretty quickly. Premade, to some extent, but decent. Basically for the price of one meal at a steakhouse you get two meals. No show, faster service, lower prices. Sweetie had chicken and shrimp, I had steak and shrimp. The steak was a little dry and overdone; not sure if that is because it was precooked then briefly grilled, or if the ride home in a hot box just kept cooking it. Still, overall not bad– pretty close to what you’d have at a steakhouse. Decent meats, good rice, good veggies, good sauce. The place is small but has a few tables. Kind of dark, and probably hectic at lunchtime. The parking lot is crazy, but I knew that before and it’s not Genji’s fault. Just be careful– it’s cramped and busy.

I got a lot of food, little pricy but I also ordered everything on it. Good taste pretty good.

I experienced poor customer service dealing with the older lady running the cash register. I made a change to my order and she kept shaking her head and frowning as she fiddled with the POS. Then she slammed her hand down on the receipt printer. No reason to get violent! She made me feel nervous and unwelcome. The food was incredibly and unbearably salty. I couldn’t finish eating it. So revolting. Try Bibibop right down the street. Food is not salty and provides healthier options.

Food is ok but I definitely felt like cattle being rushed down the line. I found the price to be a bit much for such little food. Tried it once but won’t be returning. Teenagers Behind the counter serving joking around and laughing helped in the decision of not going back as well.

Ate lunch here a few weeks ago and i was not impressed. Food was not cooked to order, steak was tough. They forgot to include the free beansprouts. The place was very dark, lights were off and not much light coming in from outside. Napkins available by request only. Straws were cheap and barely long enough. Either the owner is very cheap or this place will go under soon. Doesn’t come close to the restaurant version.

This joint is spot on. Today they offered 50% all day for their 20th anniversary celebration. I expected long lines and not a lot of happy faces. Well, I did wait 45 minutes– but who can complain about that! Any other time I’m in and out in 5 – 10 minutes. As for customer service? Hah! FANTASTIC! Everyone was smiling, joking and making the best out of them getting clobbered from open to close. I give them mad credit, I can’t say I would be in the same cheery mood. The food is always amazing, and today was no exception.

Good price for the amount of food you get. Also the best yum yum around. As for the food itself, i was impressed with the quality. We did carryout and it still tasted great when we got home. Of course nothing is as good as sitting down at a Japanese Steak House, but i would definitely come back.

I was surprised how good the food I got was after reading the reviews on my way home. Was referred by word of mouth from coworkers and friends to try out. Yeah, almost all of the food was precooked & they charge extra for more than one veggie but it was just what I was craving for. The yum yum sauce was good! I’ve had plenty of places that was worst. The chicken and steak was a little overly soy sauced & salty but this is basically your fast food joint for quick fried rice(premade) & hibachi style food. I would go back as there are no restaurants like this on my side of town.

This is OK for what it is. Everything is pre-cooked and sitting in warmers. You order, they scoop, and you’re off to the races. That being said, paying $ 15 to walk out the door with steak that was cooked an hour ago that is luke warm… kinda pricy. I’ve never been a huge fan of the«yum yum» sauce, so that doesn’t do anything for me, and the ginger sauce only does so much. If this was fresh made, it would be 4 stars(if I were in the real restaurant, let’s say) You get plain rice, sprouts and meat for the base price. If you want any veggies, or fried rice that’s extra… for each veggie. Quite the racket, IMO. Just cost prohibitive for what you end up with.

Not impressed. …I have been here before and went to get lunch for me and a few colleagues. Didn’t get much rice and the sauce wasn’t that good either.

This to-go restaurant is as good as the real thing! There is one on Main Street in Reynoldsburg, but it’s not nearly as good. See my review for the one on Main Street in Reynoldsburg. THIS is the Gengi Go our family goes to when we have a hankering for yum-yum sauce(of which I just had to buy a bottle of last time!). The rice is cooked nice and tender, but is not crunchy and the vegetables are always freshly prepared as I walk in, as is the meats: steak, chicken and shrimp. My favorite bowl is the shrimp and steak with double rice, onions, bean sprouts, mushrooms and yum-yum sauce and is about $ 15 or so. If you have never been to the actual restaurant, it is certainly worth the first visit. The cost goes up(~$ 20/person), but your food is cooked really fresh right in front of you, and you get a nice show from the extremely talented chefs that prepare your food. If you go in a group of 4−5−6 or so, you’ll probably get your own table, so you get the individual attention of the personal chef assigned to that table. You’ll laugh and be amazed! But, if you’ve seen the show, it’s cheaper just to get the food to go :) TIP: You can buy the yum-yum sauce by the bottle(and perhaps the ginger too, not sure, I wasn’t a fan of the ginger at all) and use it as dip for chicken strips, salad dressing and many other things! It reminds me of a very light Thousand Island dressing.

Not worth it to me. After I get the veggies and meat I want its around 14 dollars for overcooked rice without all the goodies. I’d rather go in and pay 18 for the whole meal.

Genii is the best Japanese steakhouse in the area and the to go version does not lose any of the quality. You will not be disappointed. Just make sure you get the yum-yum sauce!
