They have now lowered the jeans back to $ 5. Not sure if they raised them just for the holidays our realized they weren’t selling at that price!

This location over charges for furniture and items target has donated, often charging more than the Target sale price. They do have sales occasionally that are awesome but overall they are now the last thrift store I stop into instead of the five star one they used to be when everything was cheap.

I came here based on Luke’s comment about the furniture section, since I am still on the hunt for many, many bookcases. However, I was sorely disappointed to see that there was hardly any furniture at this location… and no adjacent warehouse open! What is it with Goodwill these days? Where are they hiding all the furniture??? However, I did find a nice $ 10 Ansel Adams print to match the one which I dragged with me across the country from California.

This used to be a great store. I donated to them every time I cleaned out my storage. About a year ago they went up dramatically on their prices. I used to give because I thought someone less fortunate could benefit from the stuff I no longer needed and Goodwill could make a reasonable profit. Their clothing prices are still pretty good but their furniture and household goods have gotten ridiculous. I used to buy something ever time I went in with the intention of fixing it up. A little paint and sandpaper and bam, a nice piece of furniture at a good price. If I never got around to it I would usually just donate it back. Now, this store is selling other peoples junk at Target prices. I bought nothing my last 10 trips to the store, now I just don’t go it. I’ll give my goods to the salvation army where helping people is still part of the mission.

I’m not a huge fan of Goodwill as far as thrift stores go. It’s prices are a bit steeper than other options, and many of the locations I’ve visited, I get the impression they take less pride in their operation than some others I frequent. But, this Goodwill stands apart from its sister stores. For one, it’s gigantic. The wide open space has apparently allowed them to not cram everything in in such a way as to suffocate you. Where this location really shines though, is it’s furniture section. It has an entire warehouse adjacent to the main store dedicated solely to furniture and larger items. The last time I visited they had rows and rows of couches, love seats, chairs, etc. As well as a huge offering of desks, tables dressers and the like. I honestly think this is probably the staging ground for furniture at all of their Columbus locations. If I’m right, that sort of makes it like the Goodwill Outlet store. It feels that way even if I’m wrong. I bought a great recliner here for like $ 30. It smelled like smoke a little bit and had dog food falling out of it, but that was nothing a vacuum and some Febreeze couldn’t fix. I paid someone from Craig’s List ten bucks to take me to pick it up and help me unload it. Total — $ 40. Not bad.
