Hopefully they will get the legal problems worked out. I would have loved to taste the Rose wine that they are known for. The wine ice cream was good and definitely different! We will stop by in a year and see how it is going…

My husband and I have been here on numerous occasions. While it is not our favorite we always make a stop while in the area. Wine: always something different to taste. Cabarnet franc has been my favorite so far but tasting notes vary from year to year. If you I don’t like it once, try another visit a season later! They are famous for their red Chardonnay but I’ve never gotten to taste it. Please note that most wines are not your typical muscadines of the south so if you are into that(which I am most definitely not) you may not enjoy the wine as much. Also, they make nice ice cream in the summer with wine flavors. Staff: super friendly and knowledgeable. Owner will give you a tour in a golf cart if you want to see the vines. They can point you in the direction of other wineries too(3 really close by). Atmosphere: usually too crowded for my taste but we can still find a seat even if not at the bar. Very beautiful location.

We went to a tasting here as part of a tour of several Western NC wineries. This one was the one we liked least out of the four wineries we toured. We tasted three estate wines(the grapes for the wines were grown on the estate itself) and two that the winery had bought from California to redistribute, since the last harvest was destroyed by weather conditions. The Californian ones were easily drinkable without much memorable depth to it. For the 14 to 15 dollar price you can get a better wine at grocery stores or even at some wine stores. The estate wines were… not good. We were with about 10 other people at the tasting, and no one liked the wines there. I only write negative reviews on Unilocal if I am sure of my opinion, but this one is backed up by other people. I can usually tell when a wine is just not to my personal tastes; these seemed more like something went wrong during production. I personally got glue or nail polish aromas from the wines. From what I’ve researched, that means something went wrong with volatile acidity levels in the wine, i.e. it’s a flaw in how the wine was produced. The scenery here is very pretty though, and we tasted some merlot chocolate ice cream made by the owner that is supposed to become available commercially soon and was truly excellent.
