While it is unfortunate I must leave tuscaloosa and either drive to Birmingham or now a new found place, Harvey’s in Columbus Mississippi, well worth ride and a nice ride and change as opposed to driving to Birmingham. Had fried mushroom app, awesome. Prime rib rare 16oz perfect. You must get the crawfish sauce as an add on the side. Nice atmosphere, quick service, all severs were attentive to us not just our main server. Highly recommended.

Broccoli bites were a tasty start to our excellently prepared meal. The mesquite chicken tasted smokey and tender. Made a note to self…“do that again whenever in Columbus”

When my son went to the Mississippi School of Math and Science in 1996, Harvey’s was the standby place we would go eat dinner when visiting or when my son had off campus privileges. My son had three standbys he always enjoyed there– the french dip sandwich, the fried cheese appetizer, and the teriyaki rib-eye. Passing through Columbus for the first time in almost 20 years, I decided to stop by for lunch. I ordered the fried cheese appetizer, which was still the hand breaded original. The fried cheese is still prepared with thick logs of cheese, hand breaded with a light flour coating, fried up crispy and thin. I was sorry I was alone to enjoy this appetizer but finished it slowly as I remembered pleasant times in the good old days. The teriyaki rib-eye was equally as good as I remembered. Thoroughly marinated with a deep beef taste, this steak is outstanding because it lacks the syrupy taste of teriyaki coating found in so many places that don’t take the time to marinade properly. It was a great lunch with a vegetable kebab as the side which was fresh and tasty with a real grill char. Really hated that I couldn’t try the french dip sandwich but I’ll have to save that for the next time.

The New York strip is awesome. I eat here often. It has a quieter atmosphere than any other steak house. Harveys is one of my favorites. I don’t care much for the seasoned rib eye.

Stopped at Harvey’s for lunch today after checking Unilocal for recommendation. Once again we were not disappointed. We started with the crab cake appetizer(Amazing). I had the shrimp & grits and my husband had the ribs both entrees were superb. We don’t live in Columbus however the next time we’re in town a stop here will be a given. Service was also excellent with manager interaction. Thanks Unilocal!

I come to Harvey’s every time I am in town. The food and service is always great! Love the broccoli bites, shrimp and grits, blackened catfish, crab cakes, and they have great beers on tap. I would highly recommend!

Absolutely one of the best meals! If you are looking for good food and good service, this is the place! Visited Harvey’s for lunch. We ordered the BBQ chicken salad and the burger with homemade chicken noodle soup. The burger had a homemade sourdough bun. It was so delicious. The burger was huge and the meat had a great flavor. The homemade chicken soup was creamy beyond any chicken soup I’ve had. When I say homemade, its truly hand crafted with a lot of love! We had the bread pudding for desert and it was out of this world with fresh apples, nuts and the whiskey sauce was amazing. The service was over the top… so friendly and gave wonderful recommendations. JD was our server and she was really attentive not to mention she had tasted everything on the menu so her recommendations were spot on. The manager stopped by our table twice to insure we were happy with everything and we were. The whole staff knew we were first timers from out of town and treated us like royalty! I highly recommend Harvey’s!!!

Harvey’s is a very middle-of-the-road restaurant. There are dishes here you will not regret eating but nothing that will excite you and require a return visit. That said, there are not a lot of good dining options in Columbus and Harvey’s is one of the better choices. The prime rib sandwich is usually dependable. The rosemary chicken kebob is tasty. The lemon pepper chicken is decent. I enjoy the club salad. The craft beer selection is slender.

I can’t think of anything I have ever eaten here that isn’t good! Broccoli bites mushrooms great appetizers — love the salad always so fresh the small cheese bread has been on the side since I was in high school yummy!!! Steaks great here — my kids love the chicken tenders — good hamburger– chicken and fixins good! My daughter got crab cakes tonight! Excellent! Husband got surf and turf which he said was great! They usually have fresh fish selection and I get that but tonight halibut was fresh fish I did not want that! Finished with amazing bread pudding! It’s a safe selection for dinner I this area!

Harvey’s is a very good restaurant in Columbus, MS. A business partner and I ate there two nights in a row this week. First night, no wait, Tuesday night, Larry was our server and was excellent. I had Shrimp and Grits and my friend had the Cajun Pasta. S&G was good, shrimp plentiful and delicious. Cajun pasta was a bit mild but flavorful and we cleaned the plates. You can get a Iceberg Wedge salad(not on menu) which was excellent as well. We did have the Broccoli Bites as an appetizer, very good! Wednesday night we came back, busier night so we ate at the bar. Server was friendly but got my partner’s order wrong, we ate anyway. He had Shrimp and Grits(ordered Shrimp Scampi) and I had the 10oz Prime Rib(medium). S&G wasn’t as good tonight, Prime Rib was a bit overdone and not great. Wedge salads again, superb. The Four Cheese Mac & cheese was a bit dry, not as creamy as I hoped. Bread pudding was good, not exceptional. I will eat here again but a Four Star night followed by a Two Star night here on this trip. The Broccoli Bites are unique and very good. The server Wednesday recommended the Prime Rib as amazing and it was not at all. Larry was totally terrific as our server on our first night. Ask for the«off-the-menu» Iceberg Wedge with Blue Cheese, Blue Cheese crumbles and bacon. Magnificent!

Delicious! I was in town for work and everyone said«go to Harvey’s!» And I’m so glad I did. The steak was perfectly cooked and had a lot of flavor. The broccoli bites where mighty tasty too! I would skip the bread pudding. It was so so., Ask for Deborah. She was such a sweetheart and a AMAZING server. Great southern, hometown service. Don’t forget to tip her great because she deserves it;)

This is our second time to eat at Harvey’s. This first time was when we had family in town and they were very accomodating of our larger group. We shone like stars for picking such a great place to eat. We were excited to have an opportunity to come back. Today we ordered one each of the specials. I would have posted pictures of the broccoli bites but we ate them all. Don’t let the word broccoli fool you. They only add a little for color and so you can say you ate some vegetable. …it’s really fried cheddar balls with bits of bacon and a little broccoli for affect. The braised beef reminded me of Sunday dinners at Granny’s. Complete with mashed potatoes and gravy. The only thing wrong with my trout was my husband’s fork wouldn’t leave it alone. DELICIOUS! Unfortunately no room for dessert. But we do have leftovers. We’ll be back.

Upon arrival on Memorial Day, many of the hotel recommendations were closed early. Thankfully Harvey’s wasn’t and I met up with a small group of friends to grab a beverage and some dinner. We could tell the staff was winding down the night, but they were very accommodating and welcoming despite our holiday evening arrival. Our waiter was more than happy to help us sample a variety of beverages and start us off with a delicious fried green tomatoes appetizer which came with a very rich remoulade sauce. Absolutely loved it! I ordered the fish of the day(a type I was not familiar with… and name now eludes me) which came with grilled asparagus, rice, and a buttered roll. The fish was solid and my accompanying wine made for a great meal. Everyone else was happy with their meal and I would be happy to return to Harvey’s and try some of their other dishes based off this experience!

The other steakhouse was closed on Sunday, so I checked out this place. Curiosity of Unilocal. I decided to drive 2 miles and check it out. It was Sunday and around 5pm. As I pulled into the parking lot, it wasn’t full. I thought, a dump or a treasure. I found a treasure. I walked into the place and sat at the bar. The bartender, a nice young lady, was very good at service and very attentive. I ordered a Lazy Magnolia Brown Ale. It was good, I looked over the menu and the options were plentiful. Randi Lee(?) asked me if I would like an appetizer. Beer was my appetizer. I ordered the NY Strip(medium), with a Caesar Salad and the Smoked Cheddar & Jalapeño grits. I got my salad first and it was a typically Caesar salad, only problem 4 croutons. A couple more please. I ordered another beer, same one, and my food came. Everything looked great. The Grits were awesome, and the Steak was cooked excellent. Nice pink and a nice char. I was really very, very, very, satisfied with my experience. Just Great!!!

We love walking down to Harvey’s and sitting at the bar and grabbing dinner! The fried mushroom appetizer is phenomenal. The crawfish salad, prime rib sandwich, Cajun pasta, and delta chicken are the best entrees by far. They have some really spectacular cocktails on the menu and the margarita is fresh and delicious! Service is always great and the prices are on point.

Fantastic first experience for a pair of newcomers to Columbus! Our waitress was incredibly helpful and bubbly, and the service was quick and efficient. The food was great and the definitive part of the meal was definitely the bread pudding dessert. All in all, Harvey’s has absolutely encouraged me to not only return to this restaurant for another meal, but to return to the city of Columbus for another hospitable visit!

Their to go service is amazing. I would go here just because you don’t have to get out of your car. You call, place your order, and then you just have to pull up to one of two designated spots. They bring the food right to you. The steak sandwich I got was fantastic. There are tons of regular parking spots, too.

We drive an hour several times a year to eat here. The food is delicious and service is top notch. My wife loves the marinated ribeye and I’m a fan of chicken and fixings. Everything else we have tried has been very good as well. One of our all time favorites.

Columbus is fortunate to have a few excellent eateries, and Harvey’s ranks near the top. The food is very good and the service, friendly & efficient. The Delta Chicken came highly recommended, and didn’t disappoint, although I might opt for something with a little less gravy, and a few more veggies, next time.
