I never went bat schitt over the pizza here but it’s okay. They deliver late. The howling hot pizza sauce is good. Their sides like stuffed mushrooms are okay. Don’t go there after the bars close. It’s messy. Looks like a tornado hit the place.

Is what it is. The quintessential Midwest pizza and beer joint. Greasy pizza, salads covered with cheddar cheese, gorram strong pours for next to nothing. What’s not to like? EDIT: there are enough options that it is possible to go horribly wrong with the pizza choice. We avoided this place for a year after our first experience, which was so oily and garlicky we threw it away. Also we love the thin crust but wish it came in triangles. Bonus: legit cheese fries. Actual heat. Unexpected.

Great pizza and pizza bread. Terribly slow service and consistently rude staff. Always order smokin joes crust, it’s the best!

It doesn’t take many visits to this part of town to figure out that Houndogs has this pizza & beer thing figured out. Hounddogs makes sure of that, whether a local or an out of town foodie from Detroit, these cats know hospitality. We showed up on a busy trivia night(I would prefer a juxebox or a local garage band myself), so it took a few minutes to get the brews flowing. Once we snagged a waiter things were on cruise control after that for sure. We started of with Ice cold pitchers of Yuengling followed by waves of appetizers mixed with some conversation as we melted into our booth without a care in the world. As far as the food goes, those lasagna bites are a must & the buffallo chicken bites with the blue cheese dipping sauce hit the spot too. After our 4th buddy showed up it was time to get down to business, so we ordered a couple different pizzas. The Hot Moma was intresting with sliced smoked hot cajun links, ham, bacon & sauerkraut but my favorite was the bbq chicken pizza. Large chunks of tender chicken, big bites of crispy bacon, onions & a sweet bbq sauce to bring it all together. It is obvious why this place does so well & I was sure to leave this place bookmarked for my next visit to Rock on the Range in Columbus! Thanks to local Unilocaler & friend Mike G for all the tips & local suggestions!

Easily my very favorite pizza place in Columbus. I have never gotten anything that wasn’t delicious. Pizza is always on point. Great sauce and killer crust. They also have a Caesar Italian sub, which is what it sounds like, a Italian sub with Caesar dressing that is so good. Very cool place to eat inside too. Got to give this place a shot if your a pizza person hands down my favorite.

Pizza was fantastic. Make sure you get the hand-tossed garlic crust, it’s a must. Top 3 pizza places I’ve been to in Columbus. Prices are very reasonable. It’s a little dark inside the building and they play some strange music but it’s nothing terrible. The pizza makes up for everything. One medium sized pizza is enough for two very hungry people.

Late at night Columbus around the OSU campus shuts down all most every place closes by 11 at night. Many places on campus are open late but do not deliver. But I found this place on Unilocal. We ordered a thin crust pepperoni pizza that was really really good. We have to go to the location to try other great items.

Hounddogs is the best pizza in Columbus. Been patronizing here for years. It’s a dive. They spare you all the accouterments you find in an upscale eateries’ dining room and deliver everything you need in an outstanding pizza quality. The service staff is eclectic and just as colorful as the graffiti murals adorning the walls. The back door is the front door and if you are unfamiliar with finding it, just look for the Hounddog Mobile in the parking lot and the door is a few feet away. Always order the smoking Joe’s crust– garlicky and buttery. The hours of operation are great, open very late. The price is a touch higher than typical pizza standards, but the pizza is so much better as well. Very pleased with the consistent quality of the product. If you are looking for a new pizza place, or are in doubt of where to go, I highly recommend you come to Hounddog’s. It truly is the best pizza.

Ate here and got their pizza and garlic bread and we were all violently sick. Informed them and someone named Kelly from the place got back to us after ignoring numerous messages left. She didn’t care at all and refused to accept it was from their restaurant, even though it was the only place we all commonly ate at. Kelly also refused to advise who the owner was. Unreal how rude she was. Never again, stay away people!

THE best pizza joint this side of the Olentangy, amiright?! This is the place you go to on a Friday or Saturday night sit down with some friends while you wait for the most dough-vine pie you have ever thrown down your gullet! Not for the health-conscious! Fairly greasy, loads of toppings, and somewhat crispy dough. BECAREFUL though, it’s HOT!!! That sauce is like molten lava! As I’m sure others have stated, sometimes you may wait a while for your pizza(this place does get packed on Friday/Saturday nights), but in my opinion it is worth it. The wait also gives you time to shut off your phone, order a pitcher or two for the table and actually talk to the people sitting next to you. INPERSON!!! WHAT??? Yes, you can still talk to people face-to-face these days. Very enjoyable, almost always parking available in the back, cool murals/atmosphere, solid prices, amazing food.(Be careful. Seriously. I burn my tongue every single time I visit, because I don’t have enough self-control. That’s what this pizza does to you!!). Open 24 hrs. a day so it is a great place for those late nights too. 6⁄5 stars. I shall be back with a thirst for pizza… soon.

*** Best Gluten Free pizza in Columbus! *** …And I’ve tried many gf pizzas around town. Hounddogs is now #1 on my list. When my husband said that he wanted to try Hounddogs for dinner last Saturday, I was prepared to order a salad. When I checked their menu, I was shocked to learn that they served gf pizza! I had read several reviews and decided to try their bacon cheeseburger pizza on their gf crust. I’m not kidding when I tell you that it was amazing! My husband even had a few slices of my pizza and couldn’t tell that it was gluten free. It was even great eaten cold the next day!

This place holds a special place in my heart. Usually after working at the free clinic thursday nights, the team and I would head over to Hounddogs for delicious pizza and catch up with each other. There is usually no wait – perfect for us after a long day’s work! The pizza is amazing! The crust is crispy and thick and the toppings are loaded on. My favorite is the Backyard dog, loaded with tons of veggies and feta cheese. It really is a dive bar/pizza joint that brings me right back to my days in college in San Diego. We’d hit up places like hounddogs for greasy, delicious beer-food plus tons of craft brews. Definitely will be around many more times!

If i had to write a 6 word review it would be: SPICYSAUCEANDSMOKINJOESCRUST! But since I don’t have to, I’ll leave a few other words: I came here on a Monday night for a super late dinner(I actually chose this place because they’re open super late, even during the week!) and was kind of confused walking in here from the parking lot, but yes… walk in the sorta-shady, creepy door and… seat yourself? I’m not sure what protocol is here, but I sat myself and my date at a tall table in the room with the bar. It took awhile to get noticed, but our server was super easy-going and nice… he was just a little slow. The music was a bit loud for me, and the décor/restrooms are probably sub-par, and nothing to write home about. But… They have a good selection of craft beers on draft super reasonably priced and the pizza is SOGOOD! I loved the hand-tossed dough and the low-cal*, healthy* garlic sauce and seasonings on the crust are the best I’ve ever had. The spicy sauce was definitely spicy but GOOD spicy. The two of us got a 14 inch pie with 5 toppings and took home a bunch of leftovers(almost half of a pie and it was still good the next day re-heated). *lies

I love how people feel the need to stipulate that they’re from New York and that pizza is a different thing there. Um, no, it’s not. There’s some great pizza in NYC, but there’s also a lot of mediocre crap. Hounddog’s isn’t trying to be a NYC Pizza. It’s pizza for people here in Columbus and in that vein this is some top notch pie. Service isn’t great. You’re either dealing with college kids who resent having to work or college grads who resent majoring in Latvian Architecture. Just shut up and deal with it. This is a pizza place. If you’ve ever worked in one you know that customers are obnoxious slobs who wouldn’t leave a decent tip if the service was stellar. Seriously, a pizza shop is the one place where six people can stuff themselves on a shared tab of 40 bucks. It’s not a great waiting job. HD’s makes a great crust, they have the interesting selection of different heat levels in the sauce, and they have some very interesting pies.

Love. I love Hounddog’s. I won’t deny that it’s a little disorganized(we sat at a table for about 10 – 15 minutes before anyone approached us) but the pizza is some of the best. I was pleased that Danielle liked it also. I’ve talked it up a lot but she really liked it as well. Our pizza was our usual — pepperoni, banana peppers and onions(half mushrooms as well for me). The flavors are so good. Love the tang of the peppers. I wish there was a little more sauce on the pizza but other than that, no complaints.

For the last several years my friends have been singing the high praises of Hounddog’s as the best city in the pizza. The high remarks were also followed by commentary that the service wasn’t the best, the place may not be the cleanest, BUT the pizza was worth it. Needless to say my response to join them for a late night munch at Hounddog’s was always«Naaah, I’m good.» Let’s fast forward to 2016 and to the night of one of my friend’s wedding. A group of us were going to hang out an the anniversary party at a local spot but were turned down at the door. Where do the masses want to go? Hounddog’s. I immediately experience a flashback to every other time I’ve been asked this question and I instantly prepare to utter my typical response when I hear one of my friends say«Robin, please come. I promise you’ll like it.» Now this guy is like a brother to me so I swallow my canned response, bottle up my reservations regarding Hounddog’s and prepare for my first experience. Let’s just get to the meat of the matter which is the pizza. It doesn’t disappoint. It truly is some of the best I’ve had and certainly deserves a top spot in pizza places in the city. The crust is slathered in a garlicky butter sauce, cooked to the perfect color of pizza gold. Each and every slice seems to be covered in the right amount of toppings to deliver a perfect bite each and every time. Let’s move on to the not so stellar part of the experience. First, it’s super dark in here. For those showing up in sweatpants, this is most likely a plus. For others, not so much. The menus were sticky, the tables were indeed dirty, although I want to note that the waitress quickly came over with a towel when we asked for one. Our order was incorrect and the waitress acknowledged this when she brought the check but not when the pizza came out. We were served drinks once and never asked if we wanted a refill and ate most of our pizza with nothing to drink. Now I know you’re wondering how could I offer up 4 stores for such shady service? Well, simply put, the pizza really is that good. Hounddog’s does live up to the hype and their reputation is pretty spot on. If you haven’t been there, order a pizza to go and enjoy it at home. You’ll soon have Hounddog’s on speed dial, ordering the special sauce on the side.

Came on a snowy weeknight, it was surprisingly busy! We got the last booth in the not 21 and up section(my friend thought the room was for private parties? I don’t know.) we ordered a pepperoni and chorizo pizza and 6 buffalo wings. The food came out in a standard amount of time. The wings had good flavor but weren’t crispy in the least. It was pretty unappealing, if crispy they would have been great! The pizza was okay, they definitely don’t skimp on toppings but the crust left a lot to be desired. Service was good and I really liked the environment, parking lot was a great bonus. But as a New Yorker the pizza and the wings were below par for my tastes. I wouldn’t actively seek out going here again, but if it’s convenient I’m up for trying it again.

Hounddog’s is some of the best pizza around. I’ll go one better than Bryant on this one — five sober stars! Many, many college Saturday post-last call orders to Hounddog’s for some awesome Howlin’ Hot sauce pizza.(Oh, the days of eating multiple slices of pizza in one sitting and suffering no consequences!) Memories… I only go to Hounddog’s when I’ve earned it, and when I can spend the next day in the gym, because holding back on anything when it comes to their stuff — impossible! We love the Hot Mama and the Bacon Cheeseburger pizzas with the Smokin’ Joes crust — the best gut bombs ever. Maybe I’ll switch it up and order a Caesar salad for an appetizer, ya know — gotta eat healthy. Oh, you know when we might hold it down? The $ 20 pizza and pitcher of beer at happy hour. Nothing better, and they always have good taps at Ravari to choose from. (Note to self: It is the holidays. You have holiday parties and other food-related gatherings to attend. NOEATINGGREASYPIZZA. NOTEVENHOUNDDOG’S. NO. Write your review and move on.) As other reviewers have mentioned, the service can be spotty at times — sometimes your server is lovely(and futzes up the order) or they’re surly but get you what you need and nothing amiss. I’m okay with this. And, know what? It’s actually a great place to bring kids — the big-face artwork on the walls, pizza and soda — all good for a fun night of bouncing around.

I love me some Hounddogs. Before moving to Columbus, I had exceedingly high expectations for pizza. Pizza is truly an artwork — the crust, the sauce, the cheese, the toppings… Everyone aims for the perfect combination. Hounddogs certainly knows how to hit the nail on the head. They have varying degrees of sauces. I usually get hot sauce, which is tomato sauce with a kick. They also have two options for crust. I always order Smokin’ Joes, which is a garlic, buttery. YUMMMY! Oh, and they have a ton of toppings: meats, veggies, pineapple, etc. The best way to experience Hounddogs is for happy hour(M-F). Their happy hour special is a huge pizza and pitcher of beer for little $ 20. You can’t go wrong there. Bring a friend and empty stomachs.

For me, Hounddog’s is great for a lot of reasons. This is the perfect place to bring my family. No one in my family is into trendy food, local food or farm-to-table restaurants. Actually, now that I’m thinking about it, I doubt anyone in my family knows what farm-to-table means. Anyway, Hounddog’s is a good place to bring family when we want to go out for pizza. My 14 year old cousin loves to come here and play pool on Sunday afternoons when he comes to Columbus for the weekend. When my brother visits, we come for pizza and pitchers of beer. Hounddog’s is a great place to grab a drink or late night food due to the late hours they are open. I never would have expected Hounddog’s to be a gathering place for my family from out of town, but we seem to flock here every time they are in town. The pizza is good, but I always opt to get the nachos. For $ 8.99, I can get a giant plate of nachos piled with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. Yum. If you do get pizza, go with the Smokin’ Joes crust. They offer lots of variety with the toppings. Now that I moved even closer to Hounddog’s, I’m sure I’ll continue to go here very often.
