I’ve been going to Arena Eye Surgeons for about 5 years.
4 months ago Dr. Stechschulte performed a cornea transplant due to complications with Kerataconus in my left eye.
Let me tell you, Dr Stechschulte is the best doctor I’ve ever seen. He’s professional and extremely friendly. You can tell he just a happy person and that he enjoys his work. He gives you all the time you need to ask questions and talk about whatever you need to talk about. That is rare.
I wish Dr. Stechschulte was my health provider in all cases or I could find someone just like him as a general practitioner.
Someone said the wait times were long in the office but I’ve never experienced that. Not with Dr Stechschulte or with Dr DeNaeyer. I usually wait maybe 5 – 10 minutes in the waiting area, then seen by his nurse/​assistant, and then maybe another 5 – 10 minutes in the exam room. Maybe that’s a lot of time for some but that’s nothing to me. I’ve been to places that I wait in the waiting room for over an hour past my appointment time.
I’ll never go to another eye doctor.

So I’m majorly bummed that I’m not a candidate for LASIK, but I’m undoubtedly grateful I went for a consult with an ethical doctor who would rather give good medical advice, rather than do the surgery for the extra money. Apparently having RA means your eyes may never heal completely, or at all, after LASIK.
