Bought a nice decorative vase and stand here and the owner gave me a discount on the stand. Very eclectic store with items like paintings on tiles, vases, regular paintings, etc. Tiny but fun to look around. The guy who was the clerk was very sweet and down to earth. Just a great quirky spot!

This place is great, don’t listen to the haters. Unique furniture and yes, lots of random, cool stuff. They recently had a total makeover and now sell art as well. It’s worth a stop by just to see all the cool things that are for sale and it’s always changing. I stop by about once a week just to see what’s new and if you talk to the owner and tell her you are looking for something in particular, she could probably find it for you and refinish it by the next time you stopped in.

This little place basically specializes in useless furniture. You know small endtables with a faux drawer, bookcases with only two shelves, single standing cabinets, if you don’t need really need it they have it. Most of the good stuff is on the street so no need to really go inside. It is kind of a cramped wreck and you might find yourself going home with something useless because you broke it.

Under normal circumstances, this would be exactly the kind of place that I would love. It’s small and hidden, and filled with a mismatch of random things that have no obvious connection. That is, no obvious connection beyond the fact that none of it caught my eye. I’ve been there twice, and I walk by often. I love stupid useless tables and junk to put stuff on. But I’ve never seen one that I wanted there. So, basically the owner and I have fundamentally different taste. I really tried to find something interesting. But nope. Not so lucky. On the other hand, the stock seems to change often enough, and I’m sure I’ll keep going back in search of a small table to clutter.

Mindless Matter indeed. Feeling like an overpriced yard sale, this place is tiny, unfulfilling and uncomfortable as heck. You walk down the stairs to a small room with random junk strewn about. The lady who runs the place said she sells furniture, but most everything could be more accurately categorized as home décor. Honestly, the store was so underwhelming, I find it tough to describe exactly what they did have. In their defense, Matter does have a little bit of everything: framed art, tables, toys, kitchen implements. For me, though, my time is better spent at any number of superior antique stores along High Street.

Mindless Matter wins for truth in advertising. This store truly sells random stuff that is hard to categorize. It has interesting, unique items that you could buy but you will then never find a place for. Its like that store you would go to trying to buy a painting that has the constitution superimposed on the back of it. Good luck! Mindless Matter is fun to shop at though. The woman who owns it is always chatty and fun in a kooky way. She keeps her own hours so if the door is open you know the store is as well. The store itself is actually one room underneath the greystone apartments. Inside you will find everything from antique lamps, children toys, and hand made pieces of art and furniture. Mindless Matter is an adventure in shopping akin to a garage sale. One man’s trash could easily be your treasure.
