Good vibe. A few good wine options. Didn’t get food this visit but everything coming out of the kitchen looked good. Bar was slammed when the crowd first arrived but they got caught up. Mostly a laid back place to hear good music.

We go most Sunday evenings to hear Bobby Floyd’s jam session. Bobby is one of the premier pianists in the country, and Columbus is truly lucky he makes his home here. I would recommend Notes solely on that point, but they have great food and drinks, too. The service was not so great when it first opened, but has really improved in recent months. It’s a seasonal menu, but is small, so if you’re looking for a full meal you may want to eat upstairs at Copius first. Notes’ menu is mostly small plates and flatbreads. We have had flatbreads, angus sliders, and truffle Mac and cheese and enjoyed everything.

I live two blocks from Notes and finally stopped in to try out the music venue. My boyfriend had a beer and I ordered the special bourbon sour but asked for Bulliett Rye as I don’t care for bourbon. Sadly the sour was lemon juice and not sweetened at all. I couldn’t drink it but another bar tender noticed and asked if I liked my drink. I said it needed simple syrup and she added it. Unfortunately it was still pretty bad. I would suggest steering clear of mixed drinks and stick to wine or beer. The music was quite good; the trio was playing music from Charlie Brown and holiday tunes. Good crowd and even though we were seated all the way back behind the bar it sounded good and we could still see most of the trio. I will try it again but order wine!

I’ve been coming here for about a month now for the nice, cozy environment on Sunday’s to hear the Bobby Floyd Jazz Quartet and MoJoFlo which my brother plays in that group. I haven’t had any of their food just yet because I’m usually full from Sunday dinner so I’ll have to come back to try their menu items. They are a but pricey but hey, it’s downtown Columbus and it’s a very nice venue. Upstairs is the restaurant that offers bistro style foods and downstairs is a full bar with a complete stage built for live music. Very nice atmosphere where some of the most prestigious musicians, elected officials and other highly noted people I’ve seen. I believe the last time out mayor was here and of course, he’s very people oriented!!! The drinks they have are nicely priced with a wide range of wines and high shelf drinks. There’s also an outside patio but it’s winter so we won’t be dining out just yet but it’s swanky!!! I love the servers. Very nice attitudes. They make you feel like you’re a millionaire. No prejudice on how you’re dressed casual or a a nice nightlife outfit, you’re sure to fit in period. I’ll be back to give a review of the food. From the looks of others plates, looks and smells yummy and the portions of food are huge so you’re getting your money’s worth

Great atmosphere and strong drinks. Tried the mac & cheese, REALLY good! The venue is much larger than it seems. My husband and I came in for a Stevie Wonder tribute. Will definitely be back.

NOTES is a perfect compliment to Copious restaurant. And its a winner as far as the Columbus live music scene in this Unilocal’rs opinion. On first site as jazz/live music venues go — excellent. Floor level stage with minimal dressing; just clean presentation with band and drapery. Expansive seating with small but just-what-you-want tables for 2, 4 and larger. There are several alcoves for small and medium size groups and a larger room all the way away from the stage past the bar/serving areas. Say BIRTHDAYS, PARTYGROUPS… yes! The bar area is very large, L-shaped, with seating for maybe 30 persons. Back is to the band but that’s fine because talking in the opposite direction of the band/music is favorable. Mojo Flow was on stage during my one visit and they kicked out jams — things were lively. Guests were even dancing on a small front-of-stage floor which is ideal. NOTES — let’s all hope this continues for Columbus.

Great new music venue in Columbus! The layout is perfect for local artists to come and be supported and so far they have not disappointed. Compliments to the chef because I have never had better food at a music venue. The Mac and cheese is delicious and their blueberry milk cake is AMAZING! Lastly there is a wonderful drink menu and my wine is one of the best I’ve had in awhile.
