Part of the downtown gentrified area around Columbus State University. It’s a really hip and cool area and this authentic Irish pub fits right in. It has a really rustic vibe that is welcoming. Good menu of pub food and large selection of draft beers that suit most tastes. The menu has all of the stand-bys… Shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. I had fish and hand-cut chips and it was great. I would highly recommend you stop in and check it out.

Visiting for a graduation. This place has potential, especially after seeing everything else this sad town has to offer. I’m a fan of their attempts at true Irish dishes, but they fall shirt of fantastic. The meals and their descriptions sound good on their menu, but you’re disappointed when they bring it out to you. The ingredients aren’t authentic at all; likely something ordered off their food distributors menu at a discount. I was in with my family; a group of 8. We all ordered different things. The hotdogs(Irish style) use the same sausages from their bangers and mash dish. These sausages are puny and almost tasteless. My mother and grandfather got the«corned beef sliders». These are not sliders at all, just a thin piece of corned beef in between a cut in half, cold dinner roll… I got the Shepherds Pie which was no pie at all. It was sloppy Joe with a cold lump of mashed potatoes on top… oh, and the bread in the shepherds pie was a dinner roll. Pathetic…(actually, since writing this I’ve gotten more mad about my experience… it’s going down a star.) To top off these sad excuses for Irish cuisine, NONE of the food was remotely hot; lukewarm at BEST. To top THAT off, the waitress, who was nice, only came back to the table once, and only to me, and only because I made eye contact with her. She got me another drink because I asked, and didn’t bother to ask the other 7 people in my party If they’d need anything else.(It wasn’t busy at all). She also had to be located and asked to bring us our check after we sat and waited for it for a solid 20 minutes. I can’t reasonably say that I recommend this place for any reason other than their good beer selection… so if you have to go; go to get drunk, not to be fed.

Scruffy’s is a great bar for what it is. If you want to find a bar in which to escape the endless droning of dance clubs or country bars, Scruffy’s is a great place to grab a table and hang out with friends over a beer or have a private conversation.

I love this place! It was awesome before they had food but now it is even better. You used to have to wait for special occasions for them to bring out good Irish pub food but now they have it all the time. They have the best shepherds Lori don’t know what it is but it’s amazing. I always try shepherds pie when I see it on the menu and this is hands down the best one that I have found. I had the scotch eggs last time I was here and they my friends were awesome. The portion was small but it was an appetizer so kind of to be expected. I even got the chance to meet the owner of this establishment and she is a really lovely Irish woman who has done an awesome job with this place. I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town. Cheers!

I literally could not say enough about this place. First off, my husband and I came in at an early hour and the place was empty but started to fill up before we left. We sat at the bar and the bartender(hate that I cannot remember her name) was super nice and friendly. I got the fish and chips and Jonathon got the wings. We both had a glass of Fat Tire, which she allowed us to sample before we got a glass. Our food was amazing and the staff was very nice, the chef came out and talked with us since we were the only ones in there. The bartender told us about the line of shots with names on the top shelf. You can go in and buy a shot for a fallen friend/family member and they set it up there and never touch it. I thought that was really awesome, especially being in a military town. My hubby and I both hope to go back before our move to Texas. I want the Shepherds pie and he wants the bangers and mash! Definitely would be a regular spot for me if I was a local!

This place is my favorite bar in uptown. Nice staff and great fish and chips. Buffalo wings are tiny and not very good, but it’s an Irish bar what do you expect. The drink selection is great and they often have live music. One note to the owners though, the live music is often wayyyyy louder than necessary. I’m all for loud music but for some reason it’s super loud here.

First time visit, lunch, place was practically empty. Gretchen was super friendly and explained any questions we had about menu. I ordered the Irish spring rolls and Pub sliders. Everything arrived hot; quick service in the kitchen. The Spring rolls were fantastic but burned my mouth on the first bite(did I mention it was smoking hot?) The sliders were piled high with corned beef and cabbage. They were really awesome, put a little house dipping sauce on them, excellent. The fries and onion rings were both tasty and hot. Overall, great food and nice atmosphere.

Female bartender sucks tonight usually the service is pretty good but tonight one woman is rude and slow I waited at the bar for almost 20 minutes until she acknowledged me after she stood next to me talking to a co worker about another customer who was a pain in the ass According to her…

My girlfriends and I inevitably always wind up at Scruffy’s towards the end of every GNO. We love it, we always get Scotty as a server and he remembers what drinks we like– even when it’s been a while between visits. The live music is good, the crowd is generally always a fun(but not wild to the point of being annoying) group, and the drinks are tasty. Definitely recommend giving them a shot. Gave 4⁄5 because the bathroom situation is in need of improvement. If the one downstairs is being used, you have to go upstairs(too far if you already have to pee bad), and it feels very isolated and creepy up there. I’m told that renovations are planned for the bathroom situation in the near future, so that’s great to hear!

Great atmosphere, food, and drinks. My only complaint is our waitress was a little forgetful. It was pretty slow on the Monday night we went in there and so I’m not sure why she couldn’t keep up with our requests… I still would recommend it to friends. The Shepherds Pie was awesome :)

We just tried this place for the first time, and we really enjoyed the food. The service was lacking, however. I ordered the scotch egg as an appetizer and the shepherd’s pie as my entrée. My mom had the fish and chips, and my husband ordered the pub wings and an order of fries(chips). Again, the food was great and for that reason alone, we will return in the future. The service, on the other hand, was poor. Normally I can attribute this to a place being packed or a restaurant being short staffed. Neither of these were an issue when we visited, though. They were very friendly, don’t get me wrong, but they definitely didn’t provide proper service. We never received refills, and even when the ladies came over to clear our table, they didn’t think to leave the check. It took nearly another 20 minutes for us to receive it, and this was only because my mom finally spotted one of them and flagged her down. If the service is improved this place could definitely be worthy of five stars!

It’s my home away from home, the staff friendly and respectful. The crowd that shows up good people. The food amazing fish and chips my favorite with a pint of Guinness. Breeta the owner is a wonderful Irish lady that has face lifted that bar into what it is today. Over all I think if you don’t like this fine pub go drink at home, beacuse you wouldn’t know and Irish pub if you were born in it!

5 — Service 5 — Drink pours 5 — Entrée 2 — Appetizers/sides I’ve been wanting to come here for a while, since I love fish & chips/irish pubs and this place did not disappoint. I was pretty underwhelmed by the appetizers. We got the onion rings and scotch egg and both the onion rings were kind of burnt and not well executed — the scotch egg had almost no sausage around it and the middle was very hard-cooked(green on the outside). Luckily, though, the entrees were AMAZING. My husband got the pasty and I kind of wish I had gotten that instead. My fish and chips was really delicious, although I wasn’t a fan of the way the fries were cooked, and was hoping for a crispier exterior. The fish though, was probably the best battered fish I’ve had that I can remember. Not too greasy, nice and firm, and perfectly cooked. I also got a Snakebite(guiness/cider) and it was poured perfectly. Service was great! This would be a great casual date spot. Gets noisier after 9, though.

Christmas Day. Seat yourself. 10 minutes later no contact. There’s 30 people in here tops. No contact. I like what I thought this place could have been. I’ll come back when I’m in town again.

Tried their fish and chips again after being contacted by the owner. It was a totally different dish this time around. The fish was crispy rather than soggy and had a solid beer batter taste to it. It also tasted fresh and not frozen. Chips could have been crisper for my taste, but they were not bad and not soggy. Kudos to the owner for reading the reviews and acting upon them!

I travel quite often and regularly so I rely on Unilocal to lead me to good local places to try. I love trying new things in new places and on a Tuesday afternoon wandering down by the river front and found this little gem… I wasn’t sure what to order as my hunger was making me quite indecisive, and the waitress suggested a burger … Well burgers you can get anywhere and then she suggested the Shephards Pie… Said it was popular so I said sure what the hell. I happened to be there during happy hour and had a few beers pre and post meal. The Shepards pie was really really really good. Never had one before and it was quite flavorful. The gravy really completed the meat and potatoe ensemble. And the biscuit was good too. They had good Irish music playing and the whole place had a cool old world pub vibe. I really enjoyed it. So why not 5 stars? The waitress didn’t honor the 10% off coupon for checking in. Told me it was cause it was happy hour… I didn’t argue about it but she seemed somewhat distracted and /or annoyed.(It was really slow and there were only two people here, it was still pretty early)… The bill wasn’t much but the way the voucher was rejected kinda put me off. Oh well, maybe it was cause I was really hungry and moody or whatever. Great place and I would go back next time I’m in the area
