It’s a major fall from grace for this place. Because it’s almost hard to believe that this used to be good restaurant. I remember actually wanting to go to Steak ‘N Shake because I really loved so many of their burgers and sandwiches. But now, the thought of eating here just turns my stomach. This place is simply filthy and it makes you think twice about what you’re eating. The tables and floors look like they haven’t been cleaned in days and the silverware doesn’t look much better. And the staff seem like they couldn’t care less. Now with all that being said, if you are brave enough to order some food, it’s generally decent. In conclusion, if you can stomach the filth and the fear that your food isn’t being properly handled then go ahead and grab a burger. But I wouldn’t recommend it.

Rating for service and products based on previous experiences at other burger joints. This was my first time eating at Steak n Shake as we don’t have any in Hawaii. We were seated at a table we asked to sit at near a window. Our server came to our table within minutes of being seated to take our drink orders while we looked over the menu deciding what to get for dinner. When she returned with our drinks we were ready to order. I had the triple with fries and a coke with a chili dog and Heath shake on the side. My mom had a double with fries and a turtle shake. Both of our burgers were delicious. The patties were seasoned properly and cooked to order. My only ding regarding the burger was they use American cheese and I prefer cheddar which they don’t have. The lettuce and tomato in the sandwiches were fresh and not wilted or mushy. The burgers came with shoestring potatoes served hot and crispy but not burnt. My chili dog was delicious as well. As for the shakes they were served in tall shake glasses and both were terrific as we tried some of each other’s shake. Service was prompt and friendly from the person who sat us, served us, and the manager that rang us up after our meal. He also told us about their special offers and happy hours. I’d recommend sitting down and enjoying an inexpensive(not cheap) and tasty meal to any burger lover.

It’s Steak n’ Shake. It’s open 24 hours. What more do you need to know? Steak n’ Shake is a good option for your late night burger fix, and this location is a good representation of the brand. The steakburgers are thin, so don’t shy away from a double decker… it’s not that huge of a burger. Their burgers are seared hot so they’re crispy on the edges, which is the reason to come here. The food comes out quickly, and is very inexpensive. They’re not kidding when they say that they have a large $ 4 meal section in their menu, and the portions are large enough that you won’t leave hungry. I enjoyed the Three Pepper Steakburger, which had just the right amount of spice for my palate. When we were there in October my husband got the Oktoberfest Steakburger, which was interesting but gave the impression that they were trying for something fancy and complex and ended up short of the mark. The fries are good if you like shoestring-type fries, but they are so thin that they get cold almost immediately. Eat them first if you get them, they’re not worth the calories cold. I’d say that in any given Steak n’ Shake the odds are 50⁄50 that your fries will come to the table cold. Seriously, they have about a 5 minute shelf life. Avoid the footlong Chicago Dog… they have the ingredients right but the quality isn’t up to Chicago standard, and if you know how good a true Chicago Dog can be you’ll just be disappointed.

Greeted at the door and seated promptly. 8 pm Ordered off if the $ 3.99 menu. Found it to be a great value. The pepper sauce that is on the table was great on the hamburger and the fries.

Sat down for 20 minutes before a waitress even glanced our way. and that was because a table next to us mentioned that we hadn’t had our drink order taken. That table said they’d waited an hour for food, and the table behind them dealt with the same thing. And they didn’t even appear short staffed for a Saturday. Just extremely poor wait staff.

Many people who are from Columbus and under the age of about 30 mainly go to Steak N Shake as an after party/bar drunk food place. The service is almost always slow, but the food is okay and the shakes are excellent. The food is simple diner style food straight out of the classic 50s era diner experience. The service is mainly what gives this review 3 stars, otherwise I would have given it 4.
