Taqueria Los tolucos has been renamed to Gonzalez. Same truck, new blue paint on the side vendor window. New menu sign(but same phone number and location so you can tell it’s the same truck). Prices: $ 1.50 tacos(meat choice of chicken/pollo, asada/grilled beef, cabeza/beef head, chorizo, pastor/marinated pork, lengua/tongue $ 2, or chicharron/porn crackling). Burritos $ 6, tortas $ 6, quesadilla $ 4 small or $ 6 large, gorditas $ 3, huaraches $ 7, American style tacos(additional tomato, lettuce, cheese, sour cream) $ 2, carne asada plate $ 10, horchata or tamarindo $ 2 small or $ 3 large, soda bottles $ 2. I got six tacos, two each of asada, pastor, and chorizo. The asada wasn’t that good. If I got a bigger piece of meat, it was quite tender and delicious, but most of the meat was small and kinda chewy, a fair bit of tendon/sinew in there. The pastor was really tender, but still a significant amount of fat in there. Rather than big, thin slices of pastor meat like Los Guachos does, they do the more typically small, cut up pieces of meat. The pastor meat, while more tender than LG, didn’t have as much flavor as there or the other truck down the street(tacoriendo). The chorizo was probably the most flavorful, but texture was a bit mushy/mealy(then again, that could be because I soaked the meat in salsa). The best part of this place though was the salsa. I feel like I eat relatively spicy, so I thought the green and red salsas here were great. The red was spicy enough to give a real kick, but not I-want-to-rip-my-face-off-habanero spicy. Overall though, there really isn’t anything to pull me back to this taco truck when Tacoriendo is down the street for tastier food that’s the same price.

This taco truck is about a half a mile away from the El Tacorriendo truck on Allegheny. It’s right in front of a convenience store on Stelzer and can be easy to miss, and it can also be a bit of a challenge to get to from the other side of the road if there’s heavy traffic. It’s totally worth it though. This place reminds me a lot of Tacorriendo as far as the meat and hot sauces go, so it was really hard for me to dock any stars. With them being so close together, it’s why this was my first visit to Los Tolucos. I went with pastor and steak tacos as well as a pastor quesadilla. Everything is super cheap, with the tacos only being $ 1.50, and the smaller quesadilla(10″, so still big) being $ 4.00. I was the only one there ordering at the time, and I probably waited only 5 – 10 minutes for my order, and the lady was incredibly nice. Don’t be afraid to ask for both sauce. I was a huge fan of the red, but the salsa verde was great as well. The meat of the pastor was a very bright red, and I was a little worried at first, since I hadn’t seen pork that colorful, but it was absolutely delicious! The steak was pretty tasty as well, but the pork was my favorite here. The quesadilla was great as well and was very similar to the one at El Tacorriendo, which is my favorite quesadilla in town. There wasn’t as much cheese, but they made up for it in a decent amount of meat. Los Tolucos is one of the few trucks in town I’ve seen offer Cabeza(Beef head), and if I’m feeling adventurous one day, I may give it a shot. Also, they don’t list chorizo on the menu, but I hear they have it, so I’m not sure what else they might have here that’s not listed. It’s really easy to pass this place without even giving it a glance, but I highly recommend anyone in the area or heading to the airport to stop in and support them. The truck has been here for years and only has a single review, so give them a shot and report back!

We’ve passed this taco truck almost weekly, but Saturday was the first time we actually stopped in. It’s not in the greatest of areas, but the people running the truck were freindly and most importantly the tacos were really good. The al Pastor tacos were some of the best we’ve had so far. They also had a head(cabeza) taco that my wife enjoyed.
