Northside Mixed Media Venue — Basically 5 bar and 2 restaurants in one(main stage w/dance floor, pool hall upstairs, karaōke in the middle, italian on the far end, and a little side bar in the corner) complete with a firepit and patio out front and a riding bull by the main bar. So people think they only have country here… this place rocks, rolls, hips and hops too! On any given night you can country line dance(not my thing), karaōke or dance the night away to a mix of music and a mixed crowd. You’ll find all ages and ethnicities here so leave your judgements at the door! Some of those guys in cowboy hats can break it down on the dance floor with the best of them. And yes, I can dance to country too. I’ve never met a stranger in here. The food is pretty good too. Enjoy!

Went with a bunch of husband’s friends with their wives during Christmas time for drinks. Ten bucks for a «short» Bacardi amd diet coke. Too expensive. Band was loud and you had to scream to the person next to you to talk. We stood up in the loft area. Most people were watching the patrons dance below. Very young people were there the night we went. Like 22 or 23. I t was just ok

Been there for the attached karaōke bar Wannabe’s 5 times. 4 of the times the place was closed for a private party during advertised hours. These were all Saturday nights. Not a great way to keep customers

I’ve never had such bad service at this place! I had to wait 30 minutes before being recognized or even noticed by any of the waiters. Most of them just passed by me. Finally one server Josh asked if I would like something. They made me wait without any service and did nothing to make it up to me. The whole night my party had to wait to get water even a menu. On top of that the band kept harassing for tips. Which makes tequila cowboy seem like a tacky establishment! Then the band had these girls go around Harassing customers for tips and the drunken girls came up to me and treated me as if I was a foreigner! I had to tell the girl I fully understood English thank you . I never has such a horrible service and experience here before! I guess I’m forced to give a star!

Tequila and cowboys. Not only does this bar not feel like a country bar(currently playing hip hop) but the tequila selection is worse than throwing up in Über car. If you use the words reposado or anejo the bartenders stare at you like wild deer. If you want a giant sugary filing Margarita with cheap tequila your in luck. Skip this sideshow if your in town. This place is not worth the plastic cup they pour your cheap tequila in.

The country scene is far from my cup of tea, but I still enjoyed myself on my visit to Tequila Cowboy. I went with a large group to see a concert and I was very impressed with the HUGE space inside when I walked in. There is plenty of seating as well as a stage and a balcony with a second floor with pool tables. And that is just in the main area, there is also an attached karaōke bar and pizza shop as well as a large patio/smoking area. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the margaritas are giant! Especially during happy hour there are some great drink specials. I haven’t had the food so I can’t speak to that but I will say that the menu didn’t seem like anything special, just basic bar food. The crowd there does get kind of rowdy, it’s definitely a different vibe for the Polaris area(SO much camo clothing…) but it was a fun and different experience!

Drinks are expensive, not worth the free ticket for the country concert my gf and I went to. I also left my fitbit there, called their messaging service two different times and never received a call back as I was told I would receive. very poor customer service.

Fun place with a great mix of country and top 40 hits which is perfect if you have a group of friends like mine who aren’t completely about country. Loved having the three different bars and being able to people watch from the second level! And when there’s a mechanical bull I always say that’s a plus. Only downside is the cover charge at the door.

I’ve got to think these bad reviews are old, from when the place first opened. I am sure they went through growing pains as a new restaurant, but I was happily impressed with our experience. It’s a large venue with a lot going on. Good music, dancing, reasonable prices and good food. I had the chipotle ranch chicken wrap. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Too bad I don’t live in the area anymore. I would frequent this place more often.

If you’re looking for long wait times, terrible service and horrible attitudes from bartenders and staff — then this is the place for you! It took 15 minutes to get two drinks while the bartender deliberately continued to pass by me after noticing me to serve The management was ridiculous. I will be going back tomorrow to get my money and will never step foot in this establishment again. Do not expect to come into this place to have a good time or get good service.

Went on a Friday night and the place was packed!!! It’s loud, it can get a bit rowdy, there is a mechanical bull to ride(oh hell no!) and there is lots of tequila. I ordered a margarita and they asked me what size. I got the music city one for $ 7.50 and while not the best I’ve ever had it wasn’t bad. The bigger one that I saw some other bar inhabitants drinking was almost the size of a cereal bowl. They play country music LOUD and aren’t above giving shout outs to those celebrating something like the group of wild things having a bacherlorette party. Next to the big bar area is the karaōke area where it was just as loud but a bit more fun(yes, someone sang the Time Warp and yes I got up there and danced it with them) The problem with the place is that is so LOUD. You can barely hear yourself let alone anyone trying to talk to you and as far as singing? Even if you have a great voice you can’t hear yourself as the karaōke bar is right smack behind the live music stage. Not good planning there if you ask me. Can’t comment on the food cause we all came there for drinks and singing but there is food to be had in the complex. Had no problems with service and the karaōke guy was very nice. It’s a fun place to go if you want to have a few drinks and listen to music… or sing ;)

Country music and mechanical bull riding are not exactly my scene. I’m a Chinese kid from Toronto after all. With that said, I still had fun at Tequila Cowboy. For those who ARE into Country, this place should be a blast. The Tequila Cowboy complex is interesting with 3 unique establishments all interconnected under one roof: Italian restaurant, karaōke joint and Country Western bar. There are also pool tables above the bar. Yeah, it’s a little strange, but I guess there’s something for everyone’s taste. There was a live band the Friday I visited, so that was pretty fun. They were pretty good and the crowd went crazy when they covered Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Free Bird. The other main source of entertainment is their mechanical bull. I don’t really have to go into detail about that. The crowd that Friday night consisted mostly of groups, including many bachelorette parties. Everyone was mostly well-behaved, but there was definitely some awkward dancing happening. Tequila Cowboy is definitely a great place to people watch. The beer selection is meh, with the majority being domestic. The Italian restaurant did have«Not Your Father’s Root Beer» on draft, which was a pleasant surprise. You can also travel freely with beers in-between the 3 establishments. Overall, Tequila Cowboy seems like a good place for a girl’s night out or if you’re a guy and feel like creeping on a girl’s night out. The live music is entertaining, however the Polaris location makes it pretty out of the way for people like me who live downtown.

Please save your money and time. DONTGOTOTHISBAR. The employees and managers are very rude and are always looking to ruin any kind of fun. You will get kicked out for having your hat on backwards or having too much fun. The bouncers are hot head pricks just looking to start fights. I’ve been here a few times and have never been able to just have a few drinks and have and enjoyable experience. WORSTBARINCOLUMBUS.

I love country music and live music so great place for that. One thing that drives me crazy is open bar tabs. With such a big place and multiple bars throughout once you open a tab at one bar that is it. The place is huge I want to walk around explore but I need to go back to that one bar to get a drink. Opening and closing tabs constantly is annoying. No one carries enough cash to pay for drinks, cover, bathroom attendant. Cover is $ 5 after 10PM. Band stops at 11 so if you don’t go early it’s pointless. Once the band stops tables are removed from the dance floor. Place turns into a mess. Any ridiculous line dance song you can think of is played. Hip hop to country. Go early leave early. Have a second stop lined up for the night.

I think this place is trying to be something for everyone. Well that doesn’t work. Poor selection of beer, unless you like domestic brews and then those are overpriced at $ 4 buck a pop. Bartenders won’t mention they offer buckets which brings the price down to $ 3.00 a bottle. Half the time the beer is luke warm. NASTY. The place will never make it as a biker bar. Last week we were there on our bikes, it was advertised on Q FM96 ride your bike you get in free. NOT !!! we get there and its $ 7.50 if you ride in. $ 15.00 with no bike. What a joke Bitched at management about that fact, they said nothing they could do about it. Music is ok but TOO loud as you can’t have any type of conversation without yelling or going outside. Only one bathroom also that doesnt cut it at all. either add a couple more bathrooms or rent some portable ones. And what with the people in the restroom looking for handouts(money/tips) to hand you a paper towel to dry your hands. Totally unnessasary this isn’t the Hilton or high scale joint!! This place won’t make it 2 years. we will not waste our money here. No more bike nites at this dive.

Went with group of classmates and it wasn’t the greatest experience. We find one of the high top long tables and it is sticky on most of it and so are the chairs. When the waitress finally stopped by to take orders, we asked her if she would clean the table. She sprays a cleaner on it and it goes on the front of my clothes. I immediately ask if their was bleach and she said it was only sanitizer. Hopefully it doesn’t stain. She also brings a dry towel which does not clean up the stickiness. We dipped napkins in our water glasses to clean it ourselves. She was nice but really ditzy the rest of the evening. Kind of a blank stare anytime we asked for something. After 10pm we realized they started charging a cover charge so we had to contact our friends that we were expecting to come late that it now costs $ 5 to get in. They refused to come. The waitress stated we had to cash out and it went to bar only… however we kept seeing staff delivering food well after. One of the staff sets up a tub full of ice next to the stage filled with bottled beer. I requested one… now the prices are double and she did not have any cash to make change. She hollered to someone in management that she needed change but after 1 more hour… we did not see anyone bring any so I guess I did not need that 2nd beer. The bathroom situation was strange. Had to walk in a U shape to get there… down a few halls. Once I get in there, there is a lady set up with a sign that says«I rely on tips» and is selling jewelry. I went in another time and she was listening to music on headphones and another time eating pizza. Odd. The soap dispensers were the foaming type and they were just sitting on the counter not secured down. You press down and barely anything came out and it was sliding all over the counter. The best part of the evening was the group that was there playing music. They were very nice and personable and came around chatting with the crowd. Don’t think I will be back. It was quite a hot mess.

I came for a work function and was immediately impressed by the building. Love the wood everywhere, the stage, huge ceilings and larger than life décor. The bathrooms are beautiful and huge with a bathroom attendant. The ridable bull is quite good, the night I went the man operating it was very kind and did not intentionally whip people around to painfully throw them off, it felt very safe and unintimidating. The music was great too– Johnny cash! The upstairs was gorgeous a great view of everything and great venue for a party, lots of pool tables up there and a bar. The snacks provided were great, especially this nacho dip they had! Over all, I’d come back!

Totally not my kind of place, but I won’t let that skew my review too much. Wow, this place gets crazy busy sometimes. The people here aren’t that nice either, at least the several times I have been here. Not the clientele, not the staff. When it is busy, the wait for ordering a drink was so long I just went ahead and ordered two beers. I also take issue with the beer selection. No craft beer on tap and only a couple in bottles just doesn’t do it for me. I’m sure you can get all the domestic and liquor that your heart desires so this might not be an issue for everyone. I find the layout of Tequila Cowboy to be perplexing. Stairs in odd places, lots of hallways and turns, things both upstairs and down. I am never quite sure where to go. One thing is for sure though, it is LOUD no matter where you go. With the music and karaōke bar, really the only place to have conversation would be outside on the patio. Be prepared for smokers there. The bathrooms are tucked away in a corner and once they actually had an attendant there, so bring some small bills for tipping. I tried the food once. It was ok. Not much more to say about that. Pretty standard bar fare potato skins. For upsides, the bands are usually pretty good. The décor is pretty decent too, with some fun murals to look at. There is plenty of parking if you go around back, which is just a short walk away.

This place is unique — but is not my scene. I am not a fan of country music, dance clubs or anywhere that combines drinking and dancing. I am more a fan of the quieter bar with good beers, which this place is not. Tequila Cowboy is great for the domestic beer drinker that likes to dance — a fun spot for dancers. The mechanical bull did look fun, but I wasn’t brave… err…drunk enough to try it. I was there on ladies night around 10pm & they were playing pop music so it must not be a 100% country bar. The décor was COOL& they have an awesome American flag mural. Def do not go if you want a conversation atmosphere. But cool for a fun dancing night!

We decided to check this place out on a Saturday night since it’s close by and new. Exterior: the building is definitely large. There is an outdoor patio in the front right corner of the building with roll up garage style doors. The main entrance is located in the center. Parking in front is very limited, but I believe there’s parking in the back as well, though we didn’t go around to check. Interior: the inside is definitely quite large and has a huge guitar hanging from the ceiling over the stage/dance floor area. As soon as you walk in, there’s a bar to the left that runs the length of that wall. The stage/dancefloor and DJ booth are just in front of that on the left side of the building. There is a large bar on in front and to the right of the main entrance that can be approached from all sides. Immediately to the right of the entrance is a large mechanical bull with a short wall surrounding it. There is a second level visible from downstairs, but it takes just a few glances around to located the stairs up. The stairs(on both ends of the second floor) are very wide. The upper floor has a bar along the north wall and a series of pool tables. There is a mezzanine that overlooks the dance floor and bull with chairs and a small counter upon which to place your drinks. There is a hallway from the north stairs to the second floor area with a blocked room(not sure if that is for later use). The bathrooms are on the lower floor and are somewhat difficult to find if coming from the upper level as the hallways get you kind of turned around. Trying to get from the bathrooms back to the upper level, I accidentally discovered a karaōke bar and what appeared to be an entrance to a restaurant. Staff: the bartenders on the lower level were fantastic! I had three of them ask me if I needed anything while I was waiting on a fourth one to get my drinks. That’s definitely impressive! The upper level was not so fantastic. My girlfriend and her cousin sat down at the bar and we had to get their attention though three of them looked right at us and saw we had no drinks. We arrived at 2000 when the band started and were disappointed to see that over half the dance floor was occupied with tables and chairs. For those of us used to dancing to live bands, this was a big disappointment. Around 2300, the DJ took over, the band cleared the stage, and the staff cleared the tables and chairs from the dance floor. By this time, there were far too many people on the now open dance floor to be able to have room to do any country dancing at all. There was no action on the mechanical bull at all, so we weren’t sure why it was even there if it was not being used. It takes up a huge amount of space that could have been used for all those tables on the dance floor. Getting a spot on the mezzanine to watch the activities below was definitely the highlight of the evening. Overall, it’s a decent place to go for your country music fix. The staff was mixed performance, but that can happen when things get busy. The dance floor issue is a big disappointment if you want to do any line or partner dancing. We’ll probably go again on different nights to see if things are different on various nights and then make our decision as to whether this will be a regular place to go.
