The Mellow Mushroom must be a love or hate kind of place. We had an Italian pie… And none of us could believe the line we seen on the way out the door. Although the experience we had with service could have been the hint as to why. Seen the waitress twice(once to order and once for our pie). Long wait for, well… For Everything. Lastly the pie itself, the crust reminded me of Papa John’s(by the way, they toss their’s also, so maybe that’s not as special as you may think) the vegetables were actually good. No sauce on this pizza. It earned 2 stars for fresh vegetables. Way to go Mellow Mushroom!

Mellow Mushroom hosted our discussion group a few weeks ago and our experience was great! We couldn’t have asked for better. I can’t comment on all the food, but everyone seemed pleased with their choices, and the pizza I had was delicious and served hot. Mellow Mushroom and the servers(Karen and Brian, I think) went out of their way to make us comfortable. Really outstanding service. We’ll be returning!

Last night I went to mellow mushroom for dinner. I have been there several times before and the food is consistently very good, we ordered the bruchetta and the Ceasar pizza, both were great. The Ceasar pizza is definitely one of my favorite pizzas, it has a white cheese base and is topped with a ceasar salad. You will wait about 30 minutes for your pizza, but they hand toss it and I’m willing to wait for great food! Our service was good last night, but I have had bad service in the past. It might have something to do with weekend/weeknight dining.

Good pizza! I got pepporoni and it was just how pizza Is upposed to be. Yummy, greasy goodness. Perfectly cooked. Its New York style which means you can fold it if you want(which I prefer) the staff was cool and encouraged me to try a specialty pizza next time which I thought was awesome. 1 $ pbr s. Can’t beat it.

1 star is generous. They forgot us and then burnt our pizza when I asked after an hour where it was. Gross and unacceptable!

Last night me and a bunch of other people went to mellow mushroom it was a very bad experience. We were there for 3 hours waiting on our food. The suase on the pizza was terrible and their pretzels weren’t fully cooked. As we were leaving we saw a bunch of board games and we were all thinking only a good waiter would of said would you like me to get a game for the kids. The only good food there is their chips. They also take forever to give you your food. And they are not very good at welcoming. The inside of their restrant is very weird looking. Now whenever people ask us if we want to go to mellow mushroom we are going to say NO.

Pizza was good but way too much Parmesan. Ordered pepperoni and banana pepper. Sauce has a good flavor. The bar tender was super nice which is why I am giving it 4 stars. Pizza would only be worth 3.

Three of us came in last night, and it was not a good experience… Not that any one of these things is a huge deal — but they add up. We received dirty plates, we never once received drink refills, our requests for parmesean and red pepper flakes went unfulfilled… but our bill got there almost immediately after our pizzas — no rush though! As for the food, it’s good — but not so good that it makes up for the bad service. I would suggest that management addresses these issues, as there are many other reviewers who have experienced similar service problems. There are a lot of other pizza places in Columbus. Unfortunately, until Mellow Mushroom can get it together, we’ll be visiting those restaurants instead.

A very different, fun atmosphere with pretty darn good food. The gluten-free crust is good, especially since half the country all of a sudden has a gluten allergy. Fun bar as well.

I remember going to one years ago. The pizza is good. Crust is fluffy, soft yet crisp. It’s got a nice vibe to it. And the pizza variety is fun.

I’m amending my review after the horrible customer service experience I had this evening. We ordered our pizza to go, and they told us it would 45 min. I was there on time, and waited in line for 5 minutes. The cashier told me that it would be another 7 minutes. I let her know they were already behind on my order, and she offered me an apology and a drink while I waited(I appreciated that). Up to this point, I am not mad, just kind of annoyed that it’s taking so long(I would have ordered from another place if I knew it was going to take over an hour). After another 15 minutes pass, the manager walks up to me and asks if I’ve been taken care of. I tell him not really, since i still don’t have my food, and we’re well past the 7 minute extra wait. I ask him to let me know how much longer it should take. He turns around and asks all of the guys making the pizzas, and they all look at him blank faced. Finally, one of them saunters over to the finishing area, and points down at my pizza. The manager just looks at me and says«He’s working on it. OK?» I would have expected something more… even just an apology would have been nice. Then, as he walks away, one of the pizza cooks looks at the guy preparing my pizza and makes a pissed off cat noise to insinuate that I’m being a b**ch. I really couldn’t believe it! Bottom Line — hopefully the bad taste left by the customer service here doesn’t ruin the actual taste of your pizza.

I just experienced the WORST service at this restaurant at dinner tonight. I am huge on customer service and this place had NONE. And the food was just average, so it couldn’t make up for the horrible service. I honestly don’t know how this place even functions. Here’s what happened… A group of 6 of us came in for dinner on Sunday evening. It wasn’t too busy — there were maybe about 5 – 6 other tables there as well. We got seated right away and it went all downhill from there. We sat for a good 10 – 15 minutes waiting for someone, anyone, to come by and say hi and take our drink order. I had to flag down a random employee walking by our table. We got our drinks and then it took another 15 minutes before someone(a different person) came by to take our order. We finally receive our food(more about the food later). During our entire meal, NOONE comes by the ask how the food is, if we need any refills, etc. I glanced around the room a few times, and it seemed like there was only one legit server(not ours). After waiting and waiting for someone to come around, we ask the server passing by our table if we could get drink refills. He said he would come by and take care of it. Well, he never comes back, and we have to flag down another employee to ask about our drinks. RIDICULOUS. We finally get drink refills at the END of our meal. Not one employee apologized for this atrocious service. We were virtually ignored for our entire meal. There was a bunch of employees, but basically no one was actually doing any work. As for the food… Garlic and parmesan pretzel appetizers: No flavor at all. Pizzas: You can order three different size pizzas and you split the toppings half and half. They have a variety of pizzas and there’s a create your own section too. We ordered half pepperoni and sausage and the other half buffalo chicken. This pizza was the only good thing about my experience here. Shrimp Hoag Boy: Yuck. This is their take on the shrimp po boy and I barely ate half of it. It was bland and the shrimp tasted rubbery. Do NOT order this. Spinach and Artichoke dip: It was okay– I’ve had better. Bottom line, there are plenty of restaurant options near Polaris. DONOT come here.

I met a friend and her son for dinner around 4:45 last Wed night and had a great experience. Their drink menu is fairly extensive; I chose a Kentucky Bourbon beer which hit the spot. I ordered a build-your-own calzone with pesto, mozza, tomatoes, and spinach. The server was really great and attentive. She even brought extra pesto, and marinara, on the side. The crust is crazy good. If you get a build-your-own(salad, pizza, or calzone) each topping really adds up, so it’s not cheap, but I would come back for an occasional dinner out.

A gluten-free jewel! The gf crust was crisp and tasty, not like some others that I’ve eaten. The gf drink selection was enormous; 5 ciders and 4 beers! The toppings were fresh, the décor was psychedelic, and Matt the bartender kept me laughing all night. This is definitely on my list of places to go next time I’m in Columbus.

Got another Groupon. So back to Mellow Mushroom for some good pizza. Trying to get my man to get something other than pepperoni. Did not work, got a cheese calzone and a mighty meaty pizza(pepperoni, ham, sausage, bacon & beef). Maybe next time, but I doubt that will happen. I will continue to try. Did get a thirsty dog barktoberfest beer, pretty good. Now for a walk in the woods. We’ll be back again especially once I get another Groupon.

Well all I have to add is if you’re not hungry at all, this would be a good place to go to. Because I promise by the time your food comes out, you will be hungry and will have likely also burned a few pounds of body fat. It’s takes an unGodly amount of time, every time, and after looking around it’s always confusing as to why.

Wow. My last few reviews have been really negative! Ouch. At least this time around, I’ve got some good to share about a new spot that was recommended while we were in Columbus for an impromptu game night with our friends Sean and Sonya. The Mellow Mushroom is a funky joint, riffing on 60s and 70s iconography and music. On the Saturday night we went, the place was crowded, though we were seated fairly quickly despite needing a table of 7. However, while seated, the lobby filled up fast, with numerous groups waiting for tables. And truly? If service were faster at MM, they could turn those tables so much faster. While our server was competent, it took a solid hour to get our food, if not longer. Our whole visit lasted nearly 2.5 hours – way too long for a single table! The food, though? They’ve got some really awesome pizza underneath that mushroom! I had The Marley: a jerk chicken and sausage pizza with a pesto base and spicy cilantro. The flavors on this pie sung out gloriously, with a crispy yet chewy crust and just the right amount of sauce. I could have done with just a touch more cheese, but that’s a minor quibble for what made for a delicious meal. I was a little underwhelmed by the garlic-parmesan pretzels, which had no caramelization, though the marinara that the pretzels were served with was among the best I’ve had. If you’ve got the time to kill and are in the mood for some good, offbeat pizza, give Mellow Mushroom a try!

Food is good, atmosphere is good but the service and staff not so much. Sat next to the open kitchen and had to listen to the staff act like complete asses. Not to mention the manager and another server kicking it with the table next to us our entire meal being over the top loud and obnoxious.
