Lazy review… A must try for foodies. From service to dessert everything was outstanding.

The Guild House has quickly become one of my new favorite spots! The atmosphere is «rustic sheik», kind of reminds of a restaurant/lounge you would find in Aspen or Vail. The mood and vibe are sexy, cool. The Bar staff are all great! Dave, Chris and Keith are the best! Keith specifically has a great personality and genuinely cares about his guests’ experience. Grant, the GM is also amazing! He is a great manager and will ensure that the Guild House becomes YOUR new fave spot in Columbus. Oh… and the food!!! 5 stars! The Prime Rib Cap is the best! To wash it down, try the Pimm cocktail. I look forward to visiting again soon! Cheers!

I’m noticing a trend — Cameron Mitchell restaurants seem to have GREAT happy hour menus! Came here with a happy hour group last week, and was pleasantly surprised at their delicious and affordable options for happy hour deals. When I first looked at the regular menu online, I was worried that I’d walk away with a hole in my wallet as well as my stomach, but they have a ton of great specials. All of their starters and appetizers were half off, as well as their specialty cocktails and glasses of wine! This means that we got the benefit of a lovely environment, delicious food, and fantastic service for at least half the price. Our waiter told us that Gordon Ramsay had been in the month prior and instagram’d a picture of their prime rib appetizer — it’s THATGOOD. Two of my friends got this, and they both agreed that it was absolutely delicious. I had the stuffed pepper, which was really good but the poblano was surprisingly hot(they are variable in heat so it’s no one’s fault). My gin cocktail was refreshing and not too sweet. I really like that their signature cocktails revolve around different kinds of liquor for the base. I tried a sip of the bourbon cocktail with grapefruit, and that was well balanced too. $ 10 for a cocktail is too rich for my blood, but for $ 5 it was a steal. We had a great time! The happy hour is from 3 – 6 pm, so get here early. The restaurant was starting to fill up around 6:30pm. Also, one of the nicest bathrooms I’ve seen if such things are important to you. Very pleased with this swanky addition to Columbus!

What a disappointment. I was so excited to try this place. My boyfriend took me for brunch for my birthday and we had a really bad experience. First our waiter was terrible. Not friendly at all. It was uncomfortable. We were expecting the best service. Not the case. We ordered a tuna appetizer and it was SO small. I understand this is an expensive place and that’s typically the case, but I could have eaten that in one bite. However, it was delicious. But our server… Wow. I had asked him how the steak and eggs were. His response, «Have you ever had eggs?» I said, «Yes.» He said, «Have you ever had steak?» I said, «Yes I have.» His reply, «Well there you go. It’s the same thing.» Are you kidding me?! Way to sell me on it. I understand that it’s steak and eggs, but be descriptive or recommend something more popular to me. When our food came, he just dropped it off and said, «Here you go.» He walked away and we had no silverware. He was nowhere in sight for over 5 minutes. We had to get another waiter to bring us napkins and silverware. At the end of the meal he had asked us if we wanted any dessert and listed some desserts. I said that we were gluten free and if they had any options for us. He said, «Oh guess you can’t have anything.» Just bad delivery. I had also ordered hot tea. He brings it out just a bag in a cup which was fine… Until I look over at another table that’s being presented this wooden lit up case of all these different teas to choose from and it was very impressive. We were wishing we had that service. I don’t see an immediate need to return here. I can buy an expensive steak somewhere else. But maybe I’ll come back at some point in hopes of a better experience.

Beautiful venue, spacious high ceilings, modern décor. Delicious, unpretentious and tasty Americana. Wonderful service with a smile. Easy. Peasy.

Nice atmosphere for a date. The pork cheeks were really tender and flavorful(I’d recommend these), we also liked the brussel sprouts. For dessert we had the chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse. This dessert is not for the faint of sweet tooths, but if you like rich deliciousness, save room, or make room, and have no regrets!

Probably my favorite current restaurant in Columbus. The guild house is a special restaurant located in the heart of the short north. It’s a concept that falls nothing short of what you might expect of a Cameron Mitchell restaurant. From walking in, you are really transported into a warm environment. From the candles to leather couches, no detail has been spared. The service is friendly, but not standoffish, and the menu is delicious. A local concept, the guild house attempts to use primarily local foods in its menu. The one downside is that I have not noticed the menu changing too often, so it can get a bit repetitive… But it’s only a problem if you return far too often as I have for brunch, lunch and dinner! Check out the cocktail for two as well! The porthole infuser is a unique touch I’ve only seen at the Aviary in Chicago.

One star goes for the décor and ambiance and the second for ease of working with the stad on special needs and request like splitting checks, seating larger group etc. The food was my problem… I am Vegetarian & Gluten Free. The menu offers appetizers and side dishes for eaters like me, but there’s not a single Vegetarian entrée. I asked the chef to prepare something for me and my Vegetarian friend that would be within our dietary restrictions. And this was rather a hilarious and pitiful… They brought out Scrambled Eggs mixed with Potatoes, Carrot and Green Beans in it with a cup of White Rice on a side. No flavor, no herbs, no sauce, nothing… Plain veggies tossed in a scramble egg… I could do that by myself at home, and do it better! And I chose to eat scramble eggs for bfast and not dinner. This is supposed to be a night out at a restaurant?! OMG… This entrée cost me $ 17… Ridiculous!!! I mean what in the world was this chef thinking?! I also picked starters from their menu. I tried the Brussel sprouts(as they were raving about them as their best thing) and to me they were greasy and the Brussel sprouts were the minority in this dish lol… I also tried the Vegan Pumpkin Soup, which was rather flavor less… And I asked for a Gluten Free bread as they offer that and what came out was a disappointing dry bun…

So when you first step into The Guild House you’ll notice the modern rustic décor, and it looks amazing! A really appealing dining atmosphere, perfect ambience for an upscale night out. After reading some previous Unilocalers’ reviews the only knock I perceived was potentially smaller portions, solution — order some apps! Potential concern averted and I’m sure glad we decided to thwart that matter — thanks Unilocal.b/c those appetizers were absolutely delish! We went with the Prime Rib Cap, truly delectable, and the Stuffed Poblano, also scrumptious though be ready for the piquant taste of the goat cheese stuffing which I found the rock shrimp to balance that flavor perfectly. For our entrées we had the Ribeye and the special for the night Lamb Cheeks. Both were exquisite and making my mouth water simply writing this review. The Ribeye is not a Texas sized steak, but packed enormous flavor; the Lamb Cheeks were unique and had a fantastic savoriness. Service was impeccable, as one might expect from any Cameron Mitchell restaurant. Cocktails from the bar were nicely prepared and creative. My only not so stellar comment/observation was the limited dessert options, we selected the donut, eh it was aight. though that minor hiccup would not prevent an exceptional 5-star review. I will certainly be back and continue to explore their intriguing menu.

The Guild House is a new restaurant in the short north area. My wife and I went for dinner very late on Saturday night and we were seated relatively quickly. The waiter was very polite and professional. He suggested the oyster appetizers, which I liked very much(my wife thought they were decent, but not great). We also shared a green salad with beets and goat cheese, which was excellent! They don’t have automatic bread service here, so you have to ask for it, but the bread was good(a little salty, actually). For dinner, I had the chilean sea bass, which was made in a lobster broth, with carrots, leeks, and radish. It was a small portion, but it was outstanding. My wife ordered the chicken roulade, which gave four generous portions of cylindrical looking pieces stuffed with celery root purée, romanesco, wild mushrooms, and truffles, in some sort of a reduction. I think it was equally good. The ambience of the restaurant is modern and hip. The only complaint I had was that we were seated next to a gaggle of college girls who appeared to be a bit drunk and very loud. Worse still, the girl seated right next to my wife had a voice so shrill it could shatter a few windows ;-). To be fair, they seemed nice, but just ridiculously loud. What was surprising was that with so many open seats in the restaurant we’d be seated right next to such a large party in the first place. Anyway, this is a new modern restaurant with an interesting and creative menu. It is definitely worth a repeat visit.

Went to Guild House during the week for a business lunch. Seated right away by a friendly and attentive hostess. The server came out some minutes later and introduced himself and the restaurant since they are less than a year old. I was not particularly impressed with the menu and didn’t just want to get a sandwich or a burger. As a table we ordered two of the prime rib tip appetizer to share 5 ways. It was nicely flavored and cooked, they even brought one medium and one med rare. I went on a limb and ordered the chicken roulade. Rolled chicken isn’t usually my preference but the menu was minimalistic. This is to be expected though for a local fare farm to table place. I was slightly underwhelmed, though it did taste pretty good, I’m not sure what I was expecting. But it missed the mark for me. The service was quite good though, refills on point, waiter was knowledgeable of menu and food. Will likely return to try a different dish, see if they can’t snag that 5th star from me.

We were at a loss as to where to have my 50th birthday party — then a friend suggested the Guild so we went to check it out. Our waiter Hamid and the manager Amberlea treated us like rock stars. Even though it was going to be only a small birthday party, they gave us the full treatment, recommending and sampling appetizers and helping us pick the wines. They printed an awesome menu for the day of, which helped us to not only have a fine dining experience, but also to meet our budget target. The night of the event was awesome, food was incredible(don’t miss the flatbread or the brussel sprouts) and the venue is just awesome, rustic and contemporary. They have a lovely small back room, seats about 10, for private events. Our friends enjoyed the food as much as they equally enjoyed the specialty drinks at the bar. We loved the Guild so much that we then returned the next weekend for a smaller dinner with 3 of us. It was just as good! Cameron Mitchell hit it out of the park with this concept-and the team scores high for execution. Highly recommend the Guild for either small dining or group dining experiences.

The Guild House is the Le Meridian, The Joseph’s hotel restaurant. However you cannot bill the check to your room so bring your credit card. I ate breakfast(menu based) here two days in a row on the weekend and was pleased both times. The orange juice($ 5) is worth a mention — it was so good! One day I got the Smoked Chicken Hash($ 13). The portion was rather small, but the flavors were delicious. It comes with 2 poached eggs, sweet potatoes, bacon, roasted poblano, caramelized onions, gouda, salsa verde and is topped with a few corn chips. Definitely a go to menu item. The other day I tried to get something more substantial and succeeded by ordering the Farmer’s Market Omelet($ 14). While make your own omelet was an available option, this one was filled with rosemary ham, various wild mushrooms and goat cheese. It was served with a side of good, fresh, properly ripe seasonal fruit and a choice of white or wheat toast. If you’re still hungry, opt for more OJ or split the Pecan Roll. The décor of the restaurant is also very pleasing and decorated quite lavishly and comfortably. Staff was friendly and the manager recognized us on our return visit. Window seating provides great views of High St.

Last week, after making reservations on Open Table for 5:00 because 6:00 was not available, we met another couple for dinner here on Saturday night. It is a lovely space, with large windows to see onto High Street, white leather seating, and chandeliers. Since we arrived before our friends, we sat at the bar to have a drink. I love that Pimm’s is on the drink menu because it’s not commonly found. They offer several House Cocktails and I chose the Vodka, served in a martini glass and very good. The bartenders were young and nice enough. Our server was a sweet young lady in her 20’s. We were served bread with butter. The bread wasn’t soft, but tasted pretty good since I was hungry. Our table shared the Pork Cheeks and Brussels Sprouts to start. Since I don’t eat pork, I only sampled the spaghetti squash from that bowl, and ate a large portion of the Brussels Sprouts, which were crispy and delicious. I had planned on the Salmon entrée, but actually got that evening’s special, which was Halibut served with vegetables. Three out of four in our party had the halibut and one had the salmon. Everyone enjoyed the entrees very much. They have two separate ladies rooms, which is nice, since they are both single rooms. When we left after 6:00, there were many empty tables, so of course we wondered why we couldn’t get reservations at that time. It was a nice dinner and although I am not dying to go back soon, it will be an option for a special occasion.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Guild House recently. The interior designers did an INCREDIBLE job building the ambiance in the restaurant. It is so beautiful and chic. I felt like I was dining in New York or Miami not Ohio. The exposed wood coupled with the unique china and lighting worked! The back of the house(cooks) need to whip the front of the house(wait staff) in shape. The food was PERFECT. Our service left a LOT to be desired. I am not going to waste space blasting our slow, terrible service… I’ll just use the next few lines to share what I enjoyed eating: — Trust me, get the prime rib caps as an appetizer! — I am a cheese monger and thought the cheese plate was pretty good(especially paired with wine) — Stuffed Poblanos = out of this world I ordered the lamb burger for dinner and was a little disappointed. I love lamb and have probably been spoiled with the lamb burger at a favorite St. Louis restaurant(Niche). It lacked flavor and could have used some Mediterranean spices. Overall: I can’t wait to go back. Give yourself plenty of time to dine and drink.

My first visit to The Guild House was an amazing experience. My second visit to The Guild House was unfortunately less amazing. The interior space is still great, the service is still great, and the food is still tasty. So what was different? During my first visit, I ordered dishes that are typically small. So when my scallops entrée was tiny… well it was expected. On my second visit, I ordered dishes that are typically large. Specifically, I ordered the cheese plate, ribeye steak, and the carrot cake. And when these all turned out to be small portions as well, I realized it: Every dish at this restaurant is small! The cheese plate consisted of crackers, toast, and three different cheese(a soft cheese with fruit preserve mixed in, bleu cheese, and what may have been brie cheese). Although this only had about 6oz total of cheese, I could live with this. Then came the $ 34 ribeye steak… which really looked like a filet mignon. I would estimate that this was around 8oz. Disappointingly small. In all my years of dining all over the city of Columbus, this was the first time I got a ribeye steak that was so small. I guess that’s why they don’t specify exactly how much meat you’re getting on their menu.(A rarity for a steak dish) The coup de grace was the carrot cake. It’s consists of 3 pieces of 2“x2“x2″ cubes. If I wanted to, I could have eaten the entirety of this dish in 3 bites. Smallest carrot cake I’ve ever come across. And this cost $ 7. For only 95 cents more, you could get the gargantuan 24K carrot cake at Cap City Diner. I’m willing to give The Guild House another try, but maybe more to just drink their delicious cocktails instead of the food. The food is good, but I don’t think I can justify the ridiculous price: portion ratio.

I visited The Guild House for brunch today. I definitely walked out impressed. First of all, it’s a beautiful physical space. The backlit bar, the wooden structures, Persian rugs and green glass chandeliers all add to the trendy atmosphere. The Guild House is undeniably classy, but maintains a comfortable and non-stuffy kind of vibe. Their attention to detail was remarkable. This was true in regards to the service. My water and coffee were refilled frequently. The dishes and checks also came out efficiently. The waiters’ uniforms, with their bow ties and suspenders, were a good look. Maybe i’ll rock the bow tie and suspenders look sometime soon. In terms of food, I ordered the farmers market omelet consisting of rosemary ham, wild mushrooms and goat cheese($ 14). The mushrooms were truly the star of the dish. It was delicious, yet clean without being oily. The accompanying fruit plate was also very fresh and tasty. I have to say, Cameron Mitchell does it again. It may be a pricier restaurant, but it’s worth it in my opinion. Just for service and atmosphere, you’re getting your money’s worth. I’ll definitely be back for dinner.

I thought I’d put some time into this Guild House review. I mean it’s a CMR, am I right?! Actually, I had two meals here, dinner and breakfast the next day, and I’d say they were both pretty consistently four stars. When I stopped in for dinner with my parents, the place was pretty packed, but in a fun way, and everything was completely upscale casual, so it didn’t feel too stuffy. Our waiter was pretty funny but maybe not the most sociable, but that’s okay, I’m their to eat, not make friends. We started off with the tuna ribbons, stuffed poblano, and pork cheeks. I really liked all three, but the stuffed poblano was really my favorite. The flavor in that pepper was awesome, and I’m not much of a shrimp person. The tuna ribbons were tasty but a very small portion, and the pork cheeks were a bit heavier than I was expecting in the tomato gravy. For the main course, my girlfriend and I had the ribeye, my mom had a prime rib cap special, and my dad went with the vegetable lasagna. Once again, all of the dishes were pretty good, but I can’t say they were my absolute favorites. The ribeye is cut from the eye, and it looks more like a filet, so don’t be surprised when you receive it. It was pretty thick, so only the very inside was medium rare for me. Everyone loved my dad’s vegetable lasagna, which is definitely non-traditional. It comes with a mushroom based sauce rather than a red sauce and an asparagus pesto. It was very tasty. The chocolate-peanut butter torte I had for dessert was incredible as was the cheesecake. They also offer a doughnut plate, which seemed to be pretty popular based on the tables around us. BREAKFAST: This was very much the same in terms of food. None of the plates were very big, but they packed great flavor. I went with the B.E.L.T. which was probably the least favorite of the group, while my girlfriend’s smoked chicken hash was awesome. I wish I had ordered that and ate most of her’s. The eggs benedict was very flavorful as well. As far as pricing goes, I don’t really see this place as breaking the bank. Yes, you can come here on special occasions, but it’s not nearly as bad as some other high end restaurants in town, including a lot of Cameron’s other places. You don’t go as much in the portion size, but it’s clear you’re getting high-quality ingredients in some very creative ways. If you’re looking to have a MEGA feast, this just ain’t your place. The ambiance inside as well as the professionalism of the staff, which you’d expect at a CMR, was very welcoming. I’d highly recommend bringing someone from out of town here, since it’s a very fun and sophisticated atmosphere. Cameron Mitchell did a great job with this one.

Glad I got to go! Reservation was easy to make online, and when my boyfriend and I got there, we were seated right away with no problems. We had a pretty decent meal! For appetizers we got the chips and French onion dip(it was alright, nothing special, although the dip was good), and pork cheeks with tomato gravy and spaghetti squash(tomato sauce was a bit overpowering, and the amount of pork was small even for an appetizer). For entrees, boyfriend got the lamb burger(he said it was pretty good, ordered it a medium and it was a good medium), and I got the chicken roulade. I was pretty happy with the chicken roulade. It was pretty on my plate, and had a good purée and vegetables that went with it. For dessert, we got the 3 seasonal donuts, and I am super happy about that choice. They were delicious, not too sweet, not too heavy, and the perfect way to top off the meal. Price overall was decent, our entrees were $ 17 and $ 21 each but there were certainly some more expensive options. The décor inside was beautiful, with a modern but rustic feel to it. I don’t often notice the plates… but I thought they were pretty! Service was alright. Right after we ordered our appetizers, 2 waiters came by with soups and the Brussels sprouts appetizer, neither of which we ordered. We told them we didn’t order either or those dishes, and they looked really confused and asked«aren’t you table 11?» We finished our appetizers(the ones we actually ordered) and then no one came around to get our orders for entrees; we had to flag our waitress down. We later received our desserts… and probably 1 min later our waitress came by with our check. We hadn’t even taken 2 bites of our dessert yet and felt like we were being rushed. I’m not usually super picky about service, but it kinda threw me off here. Our waitress was super nice though, and overall our experience was pleasant.
