I was at MoJoe’s last Sunday afternoon. Some friends and I finished eating brunch and wanted to take advantage of the sunny weather on a patio. I just ordered a large iced coffee so I can’t really comment on anything else. The coffee was pretty average. They have a very nice patio that faces N. High Street. I think this is the biggest draw of MoJoe’s. It’s the perfect place to soak in the sun with a coffee or alcoholic beverage and people watch. I do get the sense that MoJoe’s suffers somewhat from an identity crisis. It’s a hybrid coffee shop, bar, lounge and restaurant all in one. However it doesn’t necessary excel in one area. It lacks the coziness of a coffee shop and lacks the excitement or flashiness of a bar. I can’t comment on the food, but I’m not really inclined to try. I’ll be back for a beverage on the patio though.

I had a really great experience here this weekend. Our server was awesome and super nice and the Mojitos were incredible! Great patio to do some Short North people watching!

I’ve always been a fan of this place. I mean it’s always an excellent idea to attach a bar to a coffee joint. My last visit there was actually for Pride and it turned out to be a pretty fantastic spot. I ended up getting to enjoy the festivities while filling my gullet with an amazing breakfast plate and a quite a few Midwest Mule Cocktails. The mule was done well and is an interesting cocktail that involves bourbon, simple syrup, ginger, and lemon if I recall properly. The breakfast plate was the traditional sort featuring eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. Despite the insane crowd they managed to stay quite attentive to us drunkards attempting to watch the parade. I was definitely impressed and will continue to go to MoJoe from time to time.

Nice place for a drink outside in the afternoon @ Short North. Albeit the bartender was a bit slow, the mojitos were tasty and the hummus plate hit the spot.

This is a very cool place to enjoy a coffee, beer or some food. The patio is really nice, and it gives you an excellent view of a bustling part of High Street in the Short North. Service is good as long as it’s not too busy. The true strength of Mojoe Lounge is its location and versatility(the chill vibe of a coffee shop plus the ability to get good food and alcohol.)

I’ve been here several times — Unilocal events, meetups, short north bar crawls, visiting friends from out of town… This is a place to go to get a good cup of coffee or a nice mixed drink. The infusion cocktails are fucking great — I believe Amy was my bartender, and she steered me clear of one and straight to the one that she mixed perfectly, that was exactly what I was looking for. I can’t speak to the food — I’ve only had one piece of pie here on a late night around my birthday, but«mojo/cup o’ joe» have always been more of a «coffee/drink» location in my mind. We’ll see if this changes in the near future.

Keep in mind this review is based on a 1-hour visit for a Mid-Ohio Foodbank fundraiser. MoJoe Lounge is part of The CAP area of the Short North, the southern portion of what is in this humble Unilocal’rs view, the best walk & shop avenue in all of Central Ohio. MoJoe offers casualness that nearby Sushi Rock and Hyde Park Steakhouse can’t so come as you are and feel good about relaxin’. Parking is complicated. In fact, there really isn’t any to speak of. I’ve always had success parking on Goodale past the Greek Orthodox church. Driving ’round in circles block by block might take you 3 trips before finding a meter. Parallel parking skills required. MoJoe’s seating, both bar stools and table, is good. Spacing is fine with tables that are mostly 4-tops, short and tall. The bar seats maybe 16 people. My night was filled with lots of chit chat sound, the volume medium to noisy, but it was expected. The drinks are mid to pricey but the bartenders my night poured in semi-heavy handed way(one was our beloved Christina of Unilocal; nice work Blondie!!). The menu was diverse. My order? One app and a side salad. The app was Mac ‘n Cheese with grilled chicken stirred in. The boat-like bowl serving up the Mac was deep and wide, enough for 2 people, and the dish was hotterin’ hot. The Mac was bubbling like a Ruth Chris’ steak! Good work MoJoe! The side salad came with house dressing and was perfect size. Because there is a Cup O’ Joe’s attached — sharing — this makes for a nice oasis if you’re walking north to south on High Street. There is a good ambiance at MoJoe’s — I feel they’re worth another visit… and your visit, too.

This place is a combo bar/coffee shop. Nice ambience but drinks are a little pricey. Bartender wasn’t all that friendly, but I like the environment and would definitely stop here during the day to study by the fireplace and grab a cup of coffee. Also impressive that this place serves Nantucket Nectors juice!

This is my favorite spot in the Short North area and for good reason. I’ve been going here for 7 years and it never disappoints. It’s a coffee shop on one side(Cup O’ Joe) with delicious desserts, a comfy couch and chairs. On the other side is where you enjoy great meals and drinks by the fire catching the game or news on tv. It is nice and quiet during the day which makes it perfect for reading, study or intimate conversations. The large windows overlook their large patio and High Street which is great for people watching. The food is good(try the tomato basil soup) and their service is fast and friendly. Did I mention they have free wifi? If you are looking for a spot to settle your thoughts, grab a cup o’ joe :) or enjoy a great meal by yourself or with friends, there is no better spot.

What’s this? A coffee house located inside of a swanky former train station? Sounds like my cup of tea! MoJoe reminded me of Coffee Emporium in my hometown of Cincinnati: local artisan coffee shop with organic food, but with only one difference: Mojoe serves liquor! This makes it a popular spot for relaxing drinks on weekend evenings, especially with their patio overlooking Short North. My friends and I came for iced coffees during the sweltering heat of Gallery Hop. I ordered a White Chocolate Raspberry Freeze, which had the texture of a smoothie but was made with coffee. Delicious, refreshing, and it gave us some extra energy for the night. The Banana, Vanilla, and Honey flavor caught my eye too; I’ll have to try it the next time I am in town. Price per person: $ 4.00

Finally it came around to us wanting to have dinner here. I had read their menu online and they had some great selections, I came for the housemade veggie burger and for the guys the $ 4 pizza during happy hour. I had never been in the restaurant half, only at the counter and glanced at the café corner to the right. The restaurant part is seriously neglected, dirty, scuzzy and run down, crappy high tops, so we chose a small table in the corner. When our server brought our menus on single crumpled up stained pieces on paper there was nothing on the menu that was online. The happy hour pizza deal was $ 8 not $ 4, no burger of any sort in sight, also none of the good sided that I had wanted. We waited forever for our server to come back, he said they did away with the online menu a long time ago and that alot of people come pissed that this is what they now have. With that we got up and left, overpriced coffee and desserts, shitty dinner options, no more MoeJoe for me…

This place was a bit of a haven last night. Cool drinks on an extremely hot evening. I was meeting someone but I made it there first. It was happy hour so it was cheap and well-made drinks night. The guys behind the bar were friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. When my date arrived, he got a drink at the bar and we moved to a table(they were going to transfer his drink to our table). And here’s where my complaint starts. A waitress came over to check on us, asked if we were going to eat, we said«Not now, maybe later…» and she wandered off. She never came back. My date had to pay for his drink at the bar. Now, it would be easy to raise holy hell about being ignored like that… however, it was extremely busy in there. There was a private event and big crowds from the convention center so the wait staff were running in circles. Outside of that last snafu, I enjoyed the place. It’s comfortable, relaxed place with good staff and a great happy hour. I’ll definitely go back.

Fabulous grilled cheese!!! get the cold asparagus as a side. Great local craft spirits and brews. The outdoor patio is fantastic, the parking, a pain. Staff can be very hit or miss. The Mr. witnessed an employ who was cutting the fruit, not wash hands after using the restroom

What is a better idea than a place where one can get an espresso martini or just good coffee with the coffee house atmosphere. This place has good coffee and good drinks. If you time it right, you can get Happy Hour specials. I am not sure on their specials but I know they have some drinks for half off. I still think of this place more for it’s coffee and working place area. They have a nice area to sit and chat as well as comfortable areas to place your computer down and work while watching High Street. The place has a very relaxed vibe to it. I really enjoy just chillaxin here. If parking was easier, i would meander down here more often.

When I’m feeling especially energetic, and I’m up early enough, I’ll walk to work. MoJoe Lounge happens to be on my route in. Sometimes I make an agreement with myself that if I’m up and at ‘em and walk in to the office, I can get iced coffee. This is often a very effective tool. Walking is really the best way of getting here, because parking can be quite a challenge(hey, it is the Short North). So, I usually end up at MoJoe Lounge 1 – 2 times a week, and I am totally thrilled by their sugar free syrup options. Especially because they have sugar free coconut! Awesome. The patio is the other part of MoJoe that thrills me. I so love this patio. It’s big, and generally easy to snag a table. It’s a great place to start a Saturday night out, or recover with Sunday Brunch. The brunch is a buffet, and at $ 11.95, not a terrible deal considering you can get omelettes, French toast, and/or pancakes in addition to potatoes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit, etc etc. The service can be hit or miss, but generally it’s a-ok.

My previous experience at MoJoe was less than stellar, but I decided to give it a second shot recently. My friend and I arrived at noon for lunch and were able to snag a table on the patio. The server quickly brought over menus and glasses of water. He gave us our space while reviewing the menu, but it took him quite a while to return and take our beverage and food order. I’m a fan of the large martini menu, so I went with an espresso martini. It was delicious. As a side we shared the signature spicy fries. I was quite impressed with them, thin, crispy, and tasty. For lunch I had the hummus wrap and a side of corn salad, my friend tried the buffalo chicken tenders. The hummus wrap was good but not note worthy. My friend enjoyed his chicken tenders and I stole a crispy edge or two. MoJoe has a great patio and is perfect for people watching. The prices are fair and there is a great martini menu to choose from. The service was not outstanding, fortunately we were not neglected like my earlier visit. There is a chance I’ll return, but it would most likely be to sample their martini menu.

Gigantic fail on putting a tent over the main entrance for smokers to force their filthy habit on all your customers. I’m fairly certain that’s illegal. I hate to think what goes on behind the counter at Mojoe that their turnover is so high. I don’t think I’ve ever gone here and NOT seen the for hire sign up. The food on the restaurant side is mediocre usually, but reasonably priced, especially for the area. The patio, as some others have stated, is quite nice, if for no other reason than size alone. And finally, big kudos on managing to put a Starbucks out of business. That’s a commendable feat.

I love Cup O’ Joe, but I am not in love with MoJoe Lounge. After a quite disheartening brunch attempt at Tasi one Sunday, some friends and I went to MoJoe Lounge instead. I can’t say anything was bad, but nothing was great. Mediocrity is the name of the game here. The brunch is a buffet, which instantly turns me off. I feel like any restaurant with a buffet is saying, «We don’t make anything great, but please let the shear volume of food make up for it.» Including tip, I spent about $ 15. Next time, I’ll trust my heart and my gut and just go to North Star. I could have filled up on something fantastic and saved a few bucks in my pocket.
