I brought in a busted antique lamp to have it completely rewired and to have the switch replaced. Although I felt like the price was a little steep, the finished product was worth it and I’m confident that my lamp is wired safely. They also cleaned the glass on the inside of the lamp which was a nice touch and let me pick out the cord color. The switch they picked was also a perfect match and kept the original antique look of the lamp. I will return if I ever find another old lamp that needs refinished.

I made two trips to the closest chain hardware store to get a harp for a lamp. It did not fit and I was told on the second visit the bottom piece only came in one size. I was in and out of The Lamp Shade within 15 minutes with the perfect sized harp and the bottom piece that would fit my lamp. The box store only sells harps in two sizes and The Lamp Shade offers them in ½″ increments. The perfect fit and a price which was less than the hardware store. I highly recommend The Lamp Shade. .

Excellent service. Let me take home a $ 75 shade to try before I custom ordered a different color. They have everything. Love this place.

I recently bought a shade from Ikea and a lamp from Target. Big mistake — the Ikea shades are not meant to fit ordinary lamps, I learned. But I loved the shade and the lamp, so I took them to the Lamp Shade and asked if they could help. They rummaged around the back and came up with a simple, effective solution that wasn’t expensive at all. Now whenever I have a lamp repair need or want a new look for an old lamp, I will return to the Lamp Shade. My only puzzlement was that almost all the shades they had in stock were a basic white color. Personally, I would love it if they had a wider color selection, but they did have just about any shape you could possibly want.

Terrific service. I couldn’t decide which of three shades to get — they let me take all three home to try them out. Very knowledgeable. Good selection.

Great shop. They had many small lamp shades of good quality. I’ve tried on-line and big stores with no luck. The ladies were helpful and welcoming. The even suggested things I could add to dress lampshades up. I definitely will come here first whenever I’m looking for lampshades for my home. This is a great place to wander around in… and I like the fun finials they stock.

I had passed this store a few times on Gallery Hop and passing through the Short North on outings other times. This time I decided to check it out and duck out of the extreme cold weather. The ladies were genial and patient as I wandered around the little store, thawing out and asking questions about the business, the lamp shades and how things worked. At their current location they’ve only been there for a few years, but in their original location in Bexley they’ve been there for 33 years. Many types of lamp shades are sold at this store from silk, linen and hardback shades to drum shades to chandeliers. I was intrigued by the half shades. Best use would be for wall scones or any other wall lamp. Offered are also lamp«treats», or you could call them makeovers. You can bring in your lamp and they can upgrade that old shade. In my opinion, this would be more of a store to bring that heirloom lamp rather than the cheapo that you got at the retail store as the items are rather expensive but also high quality.

Talk about specialty stores. This is very specific, eh? But, it’s true; the lighting you choose does change the whole feel of your home. I haven’t quite mastered lamps. I consider most of the lamps I’ve seen to be stuffy or odd, if I’m even cognizant of them at all. When I was shopping for lamps for my new place, I found the prices at this store to be out of my range. I wasn’t willing to pay that much. But they did have a wide selection and were very personable. I noticed that they carry more than just lamps as they had some small gifts and home accessories including a selection of pillows, ornamental plates, and potpourris. Plus, if you’re really into lamps, they have decorative finials(the little screwy piece that connects the lamp shade to the lamp). They also have miniature shades for chandeliers. If your lamp is broken, bring it in. They’ll see what they can do. In fact, they recommend bringing your lamp in if you’re looking for a new shade so that instead of imagining what the shade will look like on your lamp, you can try the shades on for size. The Lamp Shade has been around since the early seventies(at a different location), and people really do come from all over Ohio to sample the wares. They have a variety of styles, the largest selection in central Ohio. I can’t say I understand it, but they do know their business.

This store makes me laugh. Just in case you’re wondering, if you’re in the market for a lamp shade, this is your store. I really didn’t ever think of lamp shades as being so in demand that they would solicit their own store entirely. So funny! But nevertheless, it’s been here a while and must do well. Big, fat, skinny, white, red, round, square or roundsquare they’ve got any and all lamp shades that you could possibly require. Semi-pricey if you’re used to shopping at the likes pf Garden Ridge or JoAnn’s for your home décor needs like me. :)
